;_;. If you dont have the tolerance it's okay. But the "Pit is broken", perhaps you should have shown you beating said Pits with ease with a wide range of different characters, including the ones that the complainers main - if possible .
I guess nothing much can be done about the mentality of items, I struggle with this while trying to get various friends into the game - they find the game most enjoyable when they can team up on a guy in free for all and work together to get the fantastic items to screw you over.
Anyway, back to items: There are some good people who have created an "Item standard" for tournaments, maybe using that standard would be good and please various complainers. Unless they're overly overly SMASHBALLSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

Honestly if you want to go with that logic(in all and complete seriousness, no internet sarcasms for this one), you're better off just going with mk himself. You can play him rather similarly to Marth. MK is said to be easy to pick up but complaints of brokeness aside, maining Marth helps you understand how to play MK well. The concepts of spacing, etc. are pretty much the same so it's just a little bit about learning swapping out what you would have done with marth with mk's equivalents(kinda sorta not entirely but at least decently close).

Because Snake actually counters Meta and Meta dittos aren't fun anyways. There's no point in learning a matchup that you have to work really stupidly hard in. I learned that sort of logic from Inui, but seriously, I'm under the impression that MK hard counters Marth. So I just go Snake against MK. Marth and Snake is like, the perfect combination lol. Plus, everyone secondaries MK anyways.

Chicago is a big city. There HAs to be more than one tournament going on there.

I just tried to start up a brawl biweekly tournament at my college....
I got complaints about items being off and people wanted 5 stocks instead of 3 ><. The most annoying complaint was probably that they wanted to ban Pit for being broken....

I'm starting to see a trend here and it goes: College + Brawl = LAWL. I swear college students dont know what a fair tournament looks like. (Pit is broken??? What are they stuck in March?) Since a similiar situation plagued me a little while back i think i will offer some advice. Your best bet is to tell them "3 stock too long n00bs, but i will settle for some items". Next, leave on hammers, golden hammers, fans, smash balls <--this one is key, LAZHURS, and any other annoyingly cheap items they've got. Now, the last piece of the puzzle, start the tourney and choose Sonic. I think you know what to do . They are guaranteed to scream "ITUM HAX" within seconds.

Oh and btw, I MM'd Edrees *looks at Kadaj*....I won. But sadly, we could not get them recorded because the TV i couldn't get a TV to set up my recording gear on. *sigh*....it was 2-1 btw. geez.
