I think someone like Falcon should be done first; a character that is played by a lot of people. From then it could go on down to more obscure characters in B+, like Wolf.

So yeah. I'm going with Falcon. I'd help but I can't really play B+ all that much since I have no one to play with.

i absolutely love mario for the same reasons everyone else does. Also, when cape mentioned the fireball approach - DON'T take it lightly. It's a win/win situation. If you hit them with the fireball, they are stunned for a dair -> w/e you feel like combo. If they shield, you can run up and grab them (assuming you follow closely behind your fireball). If they dodge, it's just another dair combo -> w/e. Really, as long as they're on the ground, you can't lose?

you don't need that much shield stun to get a grab out of it. And by canceling, you mean using another attack? B/c even in that situation, i still have a feeling that getting the advantage out of it would be very easy.

I will admit that my competition is very limited with b+, but looking at the marios on youtube, I think i'd stand a good chance against most. I just can't wait to see tournament vids start popping up. Those will be fun to watch.

So, I've been playing a lot of Mario in Brawl+, but there's one thing that's been bugging me. With the new high gravity, his SH Fireball Spam and approach game is significantly reduced. How are you guys compensating for that? Are you playing a more aggressive Mario, or is there a different way to use the Fireballs I just haven't figured out yet?

As of right now if I try to shoot more than one Fireball in succession I become more of a sitting duck than a threat. ^^;;;

His SH height is perfect the way it is, even if he can't SH Fireballs well. The fireballs are too slow anyway and a jab usually cancels them out completely. You're better off approaching with SH Bair or Utilt > Utilt > grab > Dthrow > Uair etc.

..Excuse me? Fireballs are an excellent way to approach. Are you going to approach an opponent with a longer reach than you with your hurt box or are you going to use fireballs?

Fireballs are pimp. His SH height is fine, but it does ruin his SH Fireball tactics.

Yeah, I agree his SH is fine. I wasn't complaining about it. All I'm saying is his Fireball game got limited due to the new gravity settings, so I was just curious as to how other Mario mains have adapted. I'm having a relatively hard time right now since I was a Fireball spamming ***** in vBrawl. XD

SH Dair moar. :V

Also pretend you're Doc Mario sometimes, and SH Fair on stage with momentum to pop them up and then combo from there.

and if you connect the last hit with SH Dair at the edge of the stage, DJ Fair ******

Speaking of Doc Mario

After Roy is finalized, is anyone going to work on bringing Doctor Mario into brawl+? Be nice to have him back.

I'm having a lot of fun playing Brawl+ with Mario. Not sure if I want to main him, Ness, or Kirby, though. I know that Mario and Kirby are probably the better of the three... but Brawl+ already feels more balanced than vBrawl, so I don't think I need to worry about that.

Glad to see that Mario finally seems to be an above average character.

yeah he's pretty good. a bit boring for me now though, but still.

I usually fh fireball dj fireball instead of sh fireball. I full hop alot with mario since I can just fast fall down with something and it just puts me in a better position. Bad habits from melee xD

I wish doc could combo could from fair in melee. :[ that'd be amazing

A man can dream....

Seriously though I really am curious about this and I really hope it can be done. Recreating the pills seems like a pain but it should be easy other than that....

Ganon is piss easy son. wtf are you talking about. Just play vBrawl in that match. Caaamp. Ganon has no moves that can reliably cancel mario's fireballs at the same speed that he fire them. He can probably cancel them as most character can, but Mario can shoot them faster than he can cancel.

Period.

On the ground, play smart and play gay and Ganon can't punish you to his full potential. His size, weight, and speed make him combo bait at low, med, and even high percents with platforms.

Cape and Fluud **** his recovery, and considering how far down he has to go to sweetspot, makes timed speed hugging > ganon. And even if you get grabbed by up B, a properly timed wall tech (dont jump) leaves you in an advantaged position to cape and/or flood.

Flood ***** his side B because it doesnt autosnap immediately too.

Ganon is one of the easier characters to recovery against too, but you have to do it smart or you'll lose a stock.

DK is completely different though. He has the ability to outrange you, keep up with Fireball Gay-ing, outproitize you, aerials with speed that can rival yours, outkills, and outlives.

You have to play ether really gay, or really defensive imo. That's the best way to fight him. Abuse his large hitbox, lack of a quick gtfo move, and space all your aerials . Rely on moves that send horizontally and focus on horizontal KOs as that's the best way to kill him because even if he can DI well and live to gay percents, sending him as horizontal and as low down as possible is the best thing cuz you can then rely on cape and fludd kills which will be the bane in a DK's *** when playing a Smart Mario.

Properly spaced capes and fludds will be your key to ****** DK.

Properly spaced fsmashes and dsmashes to get him out horizontal is what you'll need to use.

Utilt is your best friend. Uair juggling accross stages should be extremely easy. Dair is a move that you should never use against a grounded DK. Bair is okay at low to mid percents, but at high percents, all it does is send him diagonally up.

Fair should be a fairly well used move in the midst of a juggle at the edge of a stage because compaired to DK's aerial when facing you, its a fast move as he can only use fair and nair, or AD.

The match up is still pretty gay and really your best bet is to force an approach and force DK to space badly and make mistakes. Timing SH fairballs during DK's bair approach is what will really **** him up, because if you can fireball after the hitbox of Bair, I think it will help more in punishing him. :V

Thats my thought from personal experiece.

Bump for great justice.

Can someone test out this build for me? Focus on Mario's utilt. :V

(05:06:38) : what do you need tested about his utilt anyways?
(05:06:59) ghneko: I added Cajun to it
(05:07:18) ghneko: the old utilt hit at a 96 degree angle with 28 BKB and 130 KBG
(05:07:50) ghneko: I changed teh angle to 76, upped the bkb to 33/34 and lowered the kbg to 120 and speed up the move to 2x at starting at frame 22
(05:07:58) ghneko: so it now ends at frame 26 instead of 31
(05:08:11) ghneko: So now
(05:08:20) ghneko: rather than comboing into itself 3-5 times
(05:08:24) ghneko: it cna only do it about 2-3 times
(05:08:38) ghneko: but it allows for better grab/jab/smash/aerial set ups
(05:08:41) ghneko: but this is with no DI

It really does. I did more playtesting to make sure. It's usefulness on stage went pfftttt.
