If you could reasonable change some things to mario what would you change?

imo i would get rid of fludd and replace his down b with a transformation(s) (Raccon, Cape, Frog, Hammer, ect)

each transformation gives mario different a completely different moveset.

I'd want you to be able to hold side b to make him fly with the cape… He could do that in his other games! glide like mk… lol and maybe give him some way to wear the tanooki suit… that way PETA can sue Nintendo again… lol

replying to what coolwhip said.

We luigis say good luck to our fellow big brothers. We will be behind you all the way :). Apex is where you all defy the data assembled by smash researchers on the brawl metagame and you all own every Mk, Snake, Falco, and D3.

Ones that seem to think not banning Delfino against me is a good idea.

Basically outcamping Falco as Sheik revolves around aerial needling, since it goes in on that angle and can beat reflector due to being multi-hit and reflector being moving.

I could see that being done (less effectively) with Mario due to the angle fireballs come down at, buffed a little by having the cape.
It works until Falco just simply decides it's time to walk next to you and hit the A button, which you'll rarely be able to punish on block. So you have to actually outplay him legitimately up close in order to beat him. Much easier said than done, but either way it means you have to approach him. You're lifeline in this matchup is a better aerial spacing game. So long as he doesn't figure out how to counter you there, you have a chance.

Worth noting that Jabs -> Up-B is an easy combo that works on him pretty much 100% of the time. And you'll have plenty of opportunities to do that given you don't have too many better options to discourage him from spotdodging.

Chances are the easiest way to kill him is by landing a random D-smash at around 140ish%, and hopefully you'll get this before you inevitably die to like stale B-air/F-smash at like 180%. You want to use U-smash to juggle him in this matchup because it does actually cleanly beat his D-air, which will otherwise ruin most other followup attempts you try out of D-throw/U-throw (remember, U-throw him at low percents).

If you could reasonable change some things to mario what would you change?

imo i would get rid of fludd and replace his down b with a transformation(s) (Raccon, Cape, Frog, Hammer, ect)

each transformation gives mario different a completely different moveset.
1.) I think Mario should have the ability to pick power-up before the match and then activate it by taunting, which would just show him tossing it out and be very quick. If he taunts while he is already powered up he just looks around in his pockets and then shrugs. He gets the power-up available to him again every time he loses a stock, but he loses it when he takes 50%. I thought what they did with the metal cap in Brawl - was really cool.

2.) His dash attack should do more damage, go farther and hit people away from him and with more knock-back.

3.) FLUDD has a really long lasting stream that can be aimed more flexibly, he also doesn't have to charge it. It just shoots until he runs out of water. The water is refilled every time he loses a stock or he touches water.

4.) His neutral b is replaced with the Luma Spin that spins enemies around in circles if it connects, making it so that if they try to recover immediately after being hit they will do the move in the opposite direction, making it's use for this just as useful as the cape. It also reflects solid projectiles (as opposed to Ness, Lucas, G&W that only work with energy projectiles.) When he uses this move in the air, he gets a boost upward. This move has no hitstun and hit people away from him, so people will not get their up b back if you hit them. To balance it, you can only do this once in the air before touching the ground. If you press down while in this move in the air, you while home in on the nearest target below you and do a lot of damage. If you perform it on the ground and press down it will hit low with Mario's foot.

5.) His new up b is the hover nozzle that pushes people downward slightly if it hits them and it has no hitstun. If you up b on the ground, it's the same one he has in Brawl.

6.) If you hold the jab button, he releases a steady stream of flame right in front of him that hits constantly. Similar to the way Pit's two types of jabs work.

7.) Forward smash is a very strong hammer.

8.) His new side b is whatever power you picked. Certain powers would not have all their abilities activated by side b though. For example you would hold jump to hover like the tanuki and you can glide with the cape by holding jump. Fireballs would be much better than they are in Brawl btw. They would be bigger, last longer and you would be able to shoot two right after each other.

9.) His down air is his ground pound.

10.) Mario can crawl. If you run and then crouch, you will slide. If you are crouching and get hit, you will take half damage and won't move. If you tap up after pressing down, you will do a back-flip. If you tap down, then up while running you will do a long jump. If you are running and press back and then jump, you will do a side flip.

13.) Down smash is stronger.

Alright, maybe he might be a little bit OP, but he would be the most fun character in the game instantly. I don't feel like typing what all the power-ups would do.

I like how there's a couple match-ups on there that we supposedly lose for absolutely no reason.

Still smh @ Wolf -2...makes no sense.

isee you guys saying lmao, but which ones of you are winning tournaments? which one of you are beating the top players of these characters? it's hard to argue favorable matchups when no one is doing ****. I'm lucky to have gotten some of these right using my results alone cause no one else is doing anything, lmao.

No one on the Mario panel let alone majority of the entire low tier mains do the things you just listed. Though there are some things that just don't even look right by common sense. Like do you really think wolf, a character with no huge character quality except for like bair; Is on the same level of difficulty as 2 characters that can potentially take off one stock with a grab? <- same thing with peach

I agree with what Jimmy said, but Vato also does have a point that we need to do more with Mario to have better arguments.

I don't really care about -1, because I see those as a disadvantage we can easily overcome, but I do wonder how Yoshi got a +1 on Mario.

I think Vato hit the nail on the head, even if he was a little harsh about it. We gotta step it up Mario's. I have faith in all of us, but we gotta do better. I've been going to every tournament I can possibly go to. I know that some of you guys live in areas that are much more active than mine but still don't go to as many tournaments.

We can show the world that Mario is not as bad as everyone thinks but we gotta bring up our attendance. I really believe that will kick up the placings of Mario Mains. It does us no good to sit on the boards and talk about how hard we work or how well we can play if we never go to any tournaments.

In the immortal words of our beloved plumber main: "Let's a go!"

So I think I'm about to start uploading videos again, but I'm gonna jump start it on this channel. It's got a pretty big subscriber base so hopefully I can make something out of it.

Suggestions for a first video?

I'm thinking I could possibly integrate some Apex videos and do a simple analysis or something.

That sounds good Fire! I want to get in on that if you are taking others in the video. You could record a bunch of Mario games from all the Mario's at Apex.

ikes wanted solid advantage over, 6-4. It's hard to argue anything when majority of marios haven't done much. i was able to get them to agree to even because i had beaten one of the main ike debaters in the past. If we believe a matchup is a certain ratio then we have to show it.

Fire, i've had an idea of making a video to help mario's metagame out but, i just don't have the best recording stuff. If you're interested, let me know. otherwise i'll probably get it done soon i just don't know when

You guys need to get it out of your heads that Mario has any potential left to tap into. The only thing that can be done at this point is perfecting B-reversal fireballs. Someone always pop up and say "hay gais we can dooo et!" to get the boards pumped but like a week later, nothing happens.

Mario's potential is tapped out. His metagame at this point relies on defeating his opponents. Study his match-ups and put it into practice, but everyone needs to accept that Mario is a bad character before anything can be done.
