The above article talks about a man who tries to buy his son a birthday cake at a ShopRite supermarket and they refuse to do it. If you read or skim the article, you can tell that the parents are fond of unique names; they have two daughters named JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell, Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell, as well as their son Adolf Hitler Campbell. The article goes on to show the views of the parents, local people, and even a psychologist who predicts problems for these children in the future. Things like "They're just names" and "ShopRite can't even make a cake for a 3-year-old" are what the parents say. Apparently this was published on a Sunday morning front page headline, which had people concerned why the local newspaper was giving publicity to these people.

Personally, this story is really bizarre to me. I keep thinking of all these scenarios that the kids will run into and it saddens me how they will grow up with people reacting negatively towards their name. It's really too bad that the parents didn't seem to think that these names could cause problem for the kids later in life.

I can't imagine how somebody could justify that in their mind. Not one, but both parents agreeing on those particular names.

Not everyone believes in Lucifer, Satan and so on (still it's a stupid name), but Adolf Hitler existed...and did bad things (understatement of the year). So of course people are going to react negatively.

Aren't brainwashed parents the worst thing for their children? Did they really have to step over that line and name one of their children after one of the biggest dictators of the whole world? What's even more sad is that they will probably tell their son over and over again that they're right and everyone is wrong...and they are gonna believe it because they don't know better.

Wow, I hate people. Minus ten points for humanity!

Congratulations, you've ruined your child's life before its even started. As if life isn't hard enough.

Complete and utter idiots.

''The Campbells said they wanted their children to have unique names and didn't expect the names to cause problems. Despite the cake refusal, the Campbells said they don't expect the names to cause problems later, such as when the children start school.''

How delusional are these people?

Yea, Hitler pretty much ruined both the name "Adolf" and the swastika symbol for the rest of mankind. Yes, I know that Adolf is a real name that others share. Yes, I know that the swastika in other contexts is a religious symbol of love.

But no. You can't use either of them. They're ruined forever. Sorry.

However, the name Adolfo(Adolf in spanish) doesn't sound very genocide-ish.

Did all of you miss the key words in the article? These people ARE Nazis. The father denies the Holocaust and believes in all things Nazisim. The children will grow up being white supremacists anyway, so this is just another step for them.

They won't change their names, because to them, it's a badge of honor.

That said, I really hope he is the victim of a hate crime.

Just imagine that they will raise their boy to be a second Adolf Hitler.
I think I can speak for everyone when I say that WE DON'T NEED ANOTHER GENOCIDE!

But yeah, I knew they were Nazis before I read the crap that came out of their mouths. I mean, seriously, Aryan Nation? And even if that wasn't directly related to nazism, it still sounds stupid ^^;

Article said:
Disabilities, the couple says, have left both out of work: Heath Campbell can't landscape or pump gas because he has emphysema, and Deborah can't waitress because she has a bad back. They live on Social Security payments
Not sure if anyone else caught this, but I guess our tax dollars are indeed going to the best and brightest of our country.

Yeah I don't know what's going through the parents' heads. Basically everyone goes through **** at school in some way or another relating to their name, so why make it easy?

EDIT: sorry bout the sig, forgot to uncheck it.

Sad really. People hate people like this, yet feel sorry for the kid being brainwashed. The parents were probably brought up the same way.

gotta understand where the hate is coming from. This story is one of sorrow, not hatred, for me.

EDIT: If the quote and my post are bigger than my signature, is that ok, or is it only my post?

Stop having a boring tuna...stop having a boring l
I have read the AP article on Wii News. Did they mention that the guy tried to put a swastika on another cake before? The parents claim to be German, and were taught to accept other races, just not socially mix with them. They say they are teaching their kids to be OK with other races, and had minority kids at the birthday party. I just don't get it. They say they are tolerant, but they don't seem to understand the symbolism they are conveying. I feel really bad for the kids.

I dunno if my friend is naive about this. He says its against the Law to not make a cake for the kid. Plus he said that the parents aren't (neo?) Nazis, even though i showed him what the kids name meant. All he said was its against the rules and they can't do that to the kid.

I think I did read that, the supermarket could be sued for refusing service based on race, ethnicity, gender, etc. Kind of sad because the courts may just give these people even more money.

Okay...so we have a couple of redneck Neo-Nazis who live off of social security. Put them together and you get the most unfortunate kids ever.

I mean, the fact that they were denied a cake, and the name of the child are completely separate issues. Sure, the name is wrong, but that is no reason that one should be denied a birthday cake.

Actually, only two of the kids are named after people, the other one was Hitler's idea of a perfect race. >__>

Call me crazy, but the father has several points, they're just really smart*** like. (He says it's perfectly right to do it because Hitler's dead, this is the new Hitler.)

Seeing as the children are being raised by these sort of parents, I believe that they will be perfectly fine with thier names, as far as thier on acceptance to the name. I feel sorry however, that since they have swastikas and the like around the house other children will be scared to go to thier house once they come of age to understand the whole story behind it.

To get back on the cake issue, the place has every right to decline the request to put the name on the cake, and if they had been getting thier cakes from Wal-Mart for the first two birthdays, why would they go to that shop? I think there's more then just these parents trying to get a cake with thier sons name on it, it seems like they want attention.

"Hey world, my son's name is Adolf Hitler!"

Yeah, regarding the cakes, the store (as long as it's a privately owned business) does have the right to deny service to customers as long as it's not discrimination. Some might say this is discrimination against neo-nazis, but the bakery/store could just as well say that doing business with them would hurt their image/reputation and sales. Something like that would probably hold up in court.

Guys, guys, maybe there's a reason they named the kid Adolf Hitler.

I bet Suddam Hussein and Mao Zedong were already taken.
And Osama Bin Laden would potientially mock the President-Elect!

Regardless, I find this a little, um... odd, but as Cring said, they're Nazis.
