Knux, go into a dictionary a learn the definition of patient...
It's not an endless potluck of toleration, I can tell you that, shouldn't have to do **** like that. I don't care how much you like a game, when something's ****ed up, it's ****ed up.

finally actually read this....

anyways, here http://www.zeldainformer.com/2008/05/the-message-of-majoras-mask.php is the link I wanted to discuss. It's a bit of a long read but if you're a MM Fanboy(like me) you'll enjoy it.
this was an excellent read, I don't totally agree with it's mythology concerning the origin of termina(it is something of a mystery after all), but I think it's absolutely right about a lot of things and really shows good insight into the games symbolic imagery and overall messages.

The Goron obstacle course at the end of the game was obnoxious. Racing and fighting Goht was fun, though. Just speeding around Termina for fun was wonderful.

I remeber those aliens; I had so much fun attacking them...anything that gives me an excuse to use a bow. The bow is simply my favorite weapon.

If I ever find the time, I ought to play that game again. That was fun.

Best dam game in the entire series. Most challenging puzzles. More people, more storylines make you emotionally attached to indivual people, unlike any other game in the series. Hero of time link, n64 graphics. Some of the best music in the series. What more could you ask for in a zelda game? Definetely not train tracks...

the game is fine. You do realize that when you complete a temple and go back in time, you don't have to do it over again right? Just go on to the next area like a good little ***

@knuxrouge: Zanbeenaslave is right. I said this myself, but was a bit unclear. In Clock Town, there's a bomb shop. In the bomb shop is a Goron who will sell you powder kegs without having to redo Snowhead at all. As far as I recall, there really isn't much that you have to redo once you've beaten an area's temple other than side quests.

I just played the game for the first time yesterday.

So far, it's turning out pretty well.

Also, @TM, I like all the music so far. Especially the eerily creepy tunes.

The music in the game was good to me, not sure why though. Has my second favorite (maybe third 'cause of Wind Wakers) favorite overworld theme from Termina. So good. But Oracle of Ages/Seasons will always come first in that theme.

Question: Did anyone have trouble doing the butler race without the bunny hood? (the one after the first dungeon).

I always hear people complain it is way too difficult to do without it, but I have no trouble WHATSOEVER doing it without the bunny hood.
I even did it on an emulator once with keyboards (hard to maneuver) and I still got it on my like, second try.

In fact I didn't even know how to get the bunny hood until yesterday XD

Oh and with that question.. I might as well ask what does the Mask of Scents do besides make Link look weird? XD

It allows you to see a colored dust when your looking for a special plant of somekind, you'll mostly use it to find things like rare Mushrooms and other organic plants.

Ive never had trouble with the butler race. :/ In fact, I did it on my first try. The music in this game is imo the best in the series. Song of Healiiing <3, Termina field, Oath to Order and Stone Tower Temple <3.

Because it's the best video game music ever.

Seriously, this game has the greatest gameplay, music and art style in a video game. It has one of the best storylines ever, the best Zelda story imo because it does something other than Link vs. Ganon to save Zelda (and does it PERFECTLY). The graphics were incredible for it's time, and it still holds up today thanks to the expansion pack (and especially emulation).

I didn't think it was possible to follow up to Ocarina of Time. But god ****, Majora's Mask did it. They changed enough to make it a different game, but kept enough the same so that we were still playing something of OOT-calibre.

Here's a must read MM article. Take a look.

The bolded part X 10,000. This game is amazing. My favorite game ever. No other game has been able to make me feel like i am a part of it. The first time I heard the music that plays when in the final hours of the final day I felt so desperate and a lot of other emotions that I can't desribe. Truly artistic. Oh, and I had already read the article :p.

**** those aliens, I thought I was doing fine until one got behind the barn where I couldn't see it and took the cow and Romani.

The top of that house is absolutely useless, might as well use the ****ing horse.

Tingle needs to die.

Majora's Mask is actually gonna be the very first Zelda game I play.

I think I might sit down and really try to get through it this time instead of ignoring it and playing something else. I'll write out my experiences and opinions as I go. I was gonna make my own thread about it, but since Skyler already made this, I figure I'll just post my adventures here.
My dear Straked, you haven't lived yet.

I'm not just talking about MM... You haven't played a Zelda game at all?

I always preferred using the horse. Made it more fun and epic. Also, concerning your Tingle comments, finally, a criticism of yours of MM that I can fully agree with 100%, no reservations.

****it Knux... The aliens are nothing. The easiest way it running around with the bunny hood, the horse ****s everything up, kill it. Just run in circles around the barn and shoot what comes close. Heres two tips:
1) The dog will run and bark at the closest "alien."
2) Slowing time down will drastically decrease their speed.

Ignore the house, **** the horse, run around bunny hood on and shoot em... that simple.. and if you don't like Tingle just ignore him, you don't need maps anyway.

If you use the song to slow time, it might last longer but the ghosts slow down to a crawl.

I've played through the first part of the game (with Clock Town and the Skull Kid), but after I got to Termina Field I didn't really know where to go and stopped...and I won't pick it up again because that particular save file is for Collector's Edition, and I'm waiting until I can get my hands on a copy of the N64 game to play it. I don't really want to go through all of the effort to beat the game on Collector's Edition and have the real game sitting around partially complete.

But even of just what I've played so far, and what I've heard, it is a GREAT game. It's one of the most unorthodox games out there, but I think that's what makes it so great.

...So I really need to get my butt in gear and get the game already.

Bunny hood?
What the hell is that!?

Why does everyone expect me to know every-****-thing about a game I'm playing for the first time, then look at me like I'm a ****** for not knowing!?

@knuxrouge: The bunny hood is probably the single most useful non-transformational mask in the game. It makes you run faster than normal, and is better than the horse a lot of the time. It's generally the mask I'll have equipped unless I need another in the immediate future. It's not that hard to get, but I won't spoil how if you want to figure it out for yourself. If not, then you can look it up.

As for how people expect you to know a game frontwards and backwards, it's because many of us, myself included, first played this game about 8-9 years ago, and have loved it and played it many times over since then. They don't even realize that you wouldn't know to get the bunny hood as fast as possible when you start a new file, even though we all do it every time we play through. It's no reason to get mad though. It's not really that everyone expects you to know the game, they just don't think about it.

What you hear is true. Dont miss an opportunity to get the N64 version of the game. Like many people on this thread, I view it as the greatest Zelda game of all time. But, you should still play through Collectors Edition. Aside from a few sound and lock-up errors, its just as fun as the original.

But, if he plays the 64 version, is there any reason to play the Collector's Edition too? It's just the same game, but with glitches, right? (Of course, I've played both, but that's because my 64 is not accessible at the moment).

Any undead mask is the best mask in the game cuz it makes re-deads dance and unscars my childhood.

Quoted for extreme truth. Re-Deads made me stop playing OoT for like, month straight when I was a kid, but MM made it all better with hilarious pirouetting zombies. Although nothing will ever make the Well less terrifying :(

It makes sense to me because the Ranch girl never seems to mention that this horse of hers just magically arrived at her ranch within 24 hours of you showing up. It also explains why "Epona" doesn't recognize you when you meet her, and why you have to teach her Epona's song again. It seems that only people from Hyrule Market and Lon Lon Ranch in Hyrule have Terminian counterparts, so it's likely that there is more than one Epona.

Like I said in another post somewhere, I just can't picture the Skull Kid (the one possessed by a mask of pure evil) would take the time to send Epona off to a happy little ranch because he cares so deeply for the welfare of animals and your pets.
So 7 years later (in OoT) Epona is actually from Termina (since the Skull Kid shot her Hyrule counterpart)?

I love Kamaro's Mask, just because of the hilarious (in my opinion) cutscene that occurs when you use it in front of the Rosa Sisters.

No, because of how the timeline splits at the end of OoT. The Epona in adult OoT and the Epona in MM are on opposite branches of the timeline.

Fierce Diety is the best make in the game. It makes you invincible!!!!
Wrong, you can still die but you have to be braindead to let it happen... You can kill Odwalda in less than 5 seconds with that mask... Its useless on the other 3 Bosses because it doesn't roll, stand under water, or become giant. You can still die if they take enough hearts from you...

@Knuxrough: I sincerely appologize and as the others said, some of us don't realize this. We just want you to have an enjoyable MM experience. If you have questions just ask here and the MM community will try to help.

If you don't feel like looking up getting the Bunny Hood:
Theres two buildings at the back of the Ranch, one involves a dog race, go to the other. Put on the Bremen Mask (just ask if you don't have it) and hold the Sword button. Collect all the little chicks and have them follow you until they grow into roosters. Talk to the guy for the Bunny Hood.
Hope that helped.

Epona is not killed by Skullkid.

"A small, lost horse seems to have been taken in by Romani Ranch, south of town..."

Someone said that in Majora's Mask.

Thats not proof at all. That "Epona" is the Termina counterpart. Thats why it doesn't recognize you.

Yep, what Spire 3 said is true. Skull kid didnt kill Epona, he merely "got rid of her". And I dont remember which character said that about epona being taken by romani ranch but I do remember seeing it before in the game :/.
