I honestly should just stop saying things. Forget everything I've ever said about anything, because none of it is ever useful and I'm apparently terrible at this game. I'm almost tempted to say lynch me now just so I won't be a distraction anymore, because I'm not helping anyone do anything of any use at all.
Maybe this makes me look like scum (somehow?). Maybe it'd be a good thing. Maybe I should stop rambling and actually pay attention to my Psych lecture. No, I definitely should pay attention now.
This is called AtE. Appeal to Emotion. You did it
again. =P
Think about what you say before you say it.
Think critically.
Is your statement merely a hunch, or is it something with substance?
If it is a hunch then you are either proposing something baseless that can only require you to ask more questions
or
you are scum and you are just muddying the waters
if it is something with substance, you have a follow-up
final solution to mafia: things you do that have logical and easily anticipated follow-ups = townie actions
as such
Roxy is wagoned for obvious and deliberate inactivity (no information given to town is anti-town)
Roxy doesn't claim or give any information
we tell Roxy "claim!" and vote to put 'em in danger
A) Roxy claims. Town then evaluates the claim. It could be that the player claims Doctor, or Cop, or some other useful role that we don't want to lynch. This is bad, so they won't want to claim; unfortunately they often are forced to when they are in a corner and don't contribute. This at least puts town in the good situation of directing scum's NKill as those roles will automatically be night killed if scum is even halfway competent. Added bonus if we have a tracker or watcher! If they don't, the person is either scum (easily caught) or is a power role that can help town. If they are scum and they claim, they often can be counter-claimed. Easy pickin'.
B) Roxy doesn't claim. Town has no reason to deviate from its current course unless someone else says something. Roxy is hammered indiscriminately. We evaluate the flip and the NKill.
See how all the town actions have a logical consistency to them? There is a specific action causing each turn of events that can be read and observed.
What town needs to do is make sure their own play isn't distracting in such a way that it appears they are doing "pro town" things like posting frequently, but with useless info, posting vague questions (I look for the ellipses a lot... classic tell of someone wnating someone else to do the work for them, which scum likes), appealing to emotion instead of logic, or buddying with players they think will protect them.
At the same time, they need to not let scum do that. Scum need to be forced to bus their partners to not have suspicion put on themselves. This is good for town, as there is less scum. As you do this, you notice scum acting in anti-town ways which are known as "scum tells". When someone does these things with consistency or, as is often the case, their actions are found to be in line with the desires of scum players that have already flipped, they are often wagoned.
tl;dr
make sense when you post
don't post useless stuff
anything that can look pro-town simply because it has no substance and is "safe", isn't pro-town
don't post anything that can be translated into "why me"
