We've all traded wins with each other for local results. DRN got 65th at apex I think his best win was pwii (he beat larry but it turned out they weren't supposed to play in bracket, but they both thought it was real so take it for what it's worth). Fatality got 33rd at Apex.

I think you should add Scatt back on too for megaman (as you can see another S tier level player and ranked 4th here too).

Maybe myself for Villager, I secondary him and even though I mostly use Diddy I still get some results for him and the villager list doesn't look super competitive.

Pockets are mostly top tier, high tier, or special characters like say, Little Mac on certain stages. So, someone could main Marth, but has a Sheik pocket in case stuff goes wrong.

Thanks for clarifying that, I never knew the difference.

Worse case scenario is that Falco doesn't have a main until 5 years and by that time, he'd be lagging behind so much and SSB5 might be out, so everything would be moot, especially if Falco's play style changes in SSB5 even more than Fox throughout the series.

Don't say that! That will be a sad day indeed. I'm confident than once the meta develops, and maybe when customs become legal, we'll see a wave of Falcos hit the scene and get some wins.

Has he completely dropped Diddy Kong? Because he used him at Shockwave 17 which took place less than four weeks ago and he'll probably use that character more at tournaments that do not allow customs, especially since he stated that he was done using default Palutena. He's probably going to dual main both characters, but primarily focus on Palutina for tournaments that allow custom moves.

AeroLink has not dropped Diddy Kong and should be on this list for his past performances with the character. Plus it seems like Diddy Kong is still his main for when customs are disabled, but Palutena is his main for when customs are enabled.

Related to Falco or rather, related to everyone, but do people here follow other regions enough to know who mains who? For example, Greninja has aMSa from Japan, but what about the US, Canada, England, France, Australia, Mexico, etc?

This entire thing just feels like a thinly veiled Top 5 thread to be honest, and it shows by there being 7 pages already in a thread that hasn't even been out for 2 weeks.

I think some people are missing the point. This thread is not "List of best players and what characters they use", it is "List of best players of each character." If Joe Schmo happens to be the best Falco player in the world, then put him on the list. It doesn't matter if he's never beaten ZeRo or Mew2king with Falco, it doesn't matter if he mains Falco or if Falco is just a secondary. If he is the best Falco player in the world, then he should be on the list as a notable Falco player.

It tremendously saddens me to see that myself, @ MrEh , and @ Cassius. are not on the Bowser list.

If threads like these are to encourage newer, less experienced players who to watch and to ask for advice on a particular character, then I firmly believe you'd be incredibly remiss in not listing the three of us. But if that's not the purpose of this thread, then I apologize!

I can't speak for MrEh or Limit (Cassius--why'd you change your name?!?!), but I haven't been able to attend a large tournament since Apex due to being busy with my writing career. I'll definitely be back at it next month.

So I think this thread is probably in need of some sort of criteria or organization. Now I don't have many idea, but having people suggest players constantly isn't working out.

What I think should be the minimum criteria is that the player should have a video of them performing well with their character. This is so that new players can have an initial video to reference how to play their character on a competitive level, and possibly see the different styles between players.

Next I think there needs to be some maximum for number of players per character.

Also, characters with fewer players (like Mii Sword fighter) should have less strict criteria regarding what is needed to make the list, as opposed to characters with a lot of competition (like Diddy Kong).

Well from the idea I proposed earlier, here's the "top 60" players on the smashboards ranking.
Before you say it's inaccurate, I'm sure it is. We're having issues keeping up with the moderation queues for it as well.
The incentives for both areas to be worked on (people submitting results properly + volunteers for the verification) should be obvious to all stakeholders. Either way, beyond that, here's 60 names of people who are likely relevant enough that should they have other players taking sets/matches against them (or doing well in tournaments in their regions), they have a solid base argument to being notable.

Beyond that there's probably not more than 5 shared characters in this entire list beyond Diddy Kong, which brings up the notion of limits to being notable. Five is probably a good number. Even if these players aren't the most notable of their shared characters, they are still bringing in results that make matches that come up against them relevant.

I don't know the characters of every player, and I also am a bit skeptical listing characters for people (who main Diddy Kong) who I doubt I've seen them ever play a serious set with, or if they have, not making huge results/splashes. I know Tyrant has one of, if not the best MKs, but beyond single matches against ZeRo he's kept him hidden and I doubt that is a fair justification for the listing.

Anyway, next step is a bit of a consensus on the aforementioned list I bring (in terms of character usages/relevancy). I'll go from there.

Okay so the highly common mains of Diddy and Sheik. They go way past 5 players total in just the top 60, and the cut off points or choosing which ones "deserve" notoriety feels like outside what I want to grasp at right now. I'm going to assert that head-to-head results with other high ranked spots for the contentious characters need to be discerned to some extent. There are names outside the top 60 who likely deserve to be listed (such as Rain from Japan for Diddy Kong). If things are limited to 5 then regions are likely to be underrepresented, so I'd say it's fair to limit a "Hyper" region to 5 and whatever can be discerned from elsewhere taken into account (so a True Top 5 for a character is preferred but disconnected regions shouldn't be pushed out).

At this rate, GimR might as well be the best Falco with his recent results with Falco. I haven't seen Keitaro or FOW's Falco recently and Pawclaw is sort of under the radar. This video, https://youtu.be/3NHdMJWysk4, shows GimR's work on Falco while the other two recent uploads were unfortunate since he got bodied by Ash23's Bowser and got himself spiked by Logic's Alph twice within a minute between the spikes for going to reckless near the ledge. Any objections? I still stand by that Falco shouldn't have a player listed unless it's clearer than a polished window that *insert play's name here* has fantastic results with Falco.

I definitely take back my "GimR isn't that good" statement. He's improved a lot from what I was was critiquing him from.
It was interesting because he was playing him very aggressively and usually that's not recommended for Falco, yet it was working out for him.
Then again it could just be the Match up, seeing as how it worked really well against DDD, yet Sheik countered pretty much all he can throw out. (Hence, not recommended)
I also haven't seen much of Keitaro's Falco lately which is peculiar. FOW pockets Falco so we can all never really ever count on him going Falco in a set, honestly.

The problem is that like I said, I haven't seen the recent Falco players and I miss streams. Adding practice, the GimR today is probably a far cry from the GimR of whatever date the video was uploaded. I mean compare the video above with the from last time he used Falco. I know GimR's good, but seeing that made me go, "Is that really GimR?"

I've never seen Shaya's Falco either and I've seen FOW's once on Shofu's channel and it wasn't much to say. As I said before, practice, and FOW's Falco could be a monster by now, but I don't know and maybe nobody knows. I mean, for all we know, ZeRo's practicing with Mega Man and when his Mega Man cones out, it'll make the current best Mega Men look decent. Nobody expected Trela to pull that off with Mii Sowrdfighter and JohnNumber's WFT is great.

Yeah, I'm kind of going through a lot of **** currently; college, work etc. I don't really have the time to play this game as often as I would want to. The most I've done is place 97th at Apex w/Bowser but there's nothing else I can really speak of yet.

The earlier forms of this list seemed to cater towards the players who receive frequent media exposure. I think Shaya's idea is probably better but I'm honestly not a fan of this kind of stuff to begin with anyway.

Sheik is not that bad of a matchup for Bowser. This is thanks to how weak Sheik is, Bowser's invincibility on attacks, tough guy armor, and rage mode.

I'm sorry, but you have no idea what you're talking about. Shiek combos Bowser for days and can camp him to boot. Ask literally any Shiek main. It's one of the easiest MUs for her in the entire game. It's not as bad as ICs/D3 in Brawl, but this is easily Bowser's worst MU. It's not even close.

I used Bowser to beat a friend of mine who plays a very good Sheik (can beat all my characters and is a better player than me in fundamentals) -that almost beat LOE1 (a Luigi player who is top 60 ^^ up there) at a separate tourney- in Winners finals (3-0) where Grand Finals went to 3-2 after bracket reset. I was almost able to take the tournament with Bowser (and I mixed in some Marth and Falco so Bowser doesn't get too adapted). All the games I won were with Bowser. My friend wasn't new to my Bowser as we always practice together.

I don't really want to argue about this and it's off topic but while I know Sheik wins, it's definitely not her best MU.
