Convince ESAM to go Lucas for easy win :denzel:

@ Hylian Hylian you said the autocancelled moves are when the move actually ends. I was looking at the melee Kirby frame data and there was a different set of frames for the autocancel window and when the move ends.

If it was when the move actually ends then there would be no distinction.
I think he means once the hitbox was over. It varies depending on the move.

I'm worried about JCaeser though, ROB kicks my ass lately, I'm thinking about using someone other than Link for it, can't combo ROB much

And uh, idk how big this place is gonna be, how are we gonna find each other?

@ Hylian Hylian I kinda wanted more strong players in my bracket, that's the only way to learn and get better and I don't think I'd be able to get a match with them outside of the tournament, I don't know what half of them look like lol

What combos work on ROB Fenrir?

Also here my #: 401-450-4396, you guys should hit me up at SKTAR so we can get some matches in and practice, the Links must unite and help each other get better so we can have Link win a tournament some day

Like Nair into anything (grab, jab, utilt, etc etc etc depending on % and weak/hard nair), Bair into anything (low-mid %), endless dthrow combos generally centering around repeated uses of utilt, jab, and dash attack. Can go up and down platforms with it too.. just adapt to DI and techs and you can extend BS combos to like 80% or higher.

ROB is gigantic, so just throwing hitboxes works well. Zair works really well with Jab to keep him at arm's length.

Essentially, I think Link can outspam ROB, outrange ROB, and out maneuver him. They can combo/put out damage fairly similarly. The only advantage ROB really has, imo, is edgeguarding vs recovery, which is evenish or slightly in his favor, imo.

I played a lot of friendlies with Bstuk at SKTAR and I'm MUCH more comfortable with the ROB matchup now, we both went back and forth winning and all the games were really close, that guy is really cool, playing against him made me learn to rely on projectiles a lot less

Wolf, you beat JCaesar! You rock! \m/^_^\m/

Played some friendlies with the best P:M player in my hometown. Had this epic comeback vs his Marth. Will upload soon.

Thanks man, I was only aiming for top 64 at the tournament but I think I got 17th? Did better than I aimed to do, and my big losses were Armada and Chudat, not salty at all

You had more confidence than I did lol, I think I'm gonna retry some matchups with Link again and see what I can do, I have a tough time against Squirtles, I think I'll try that matchup again without using the boomerang since Squirtle's withdraw plows right through it, I'm wondering if I can run away when he's withdrawing towards me and drop a bomb in time, or maybe try Nair to stuff it if it would go through, I don't even know if you can grab him out of withdraw, and then there's the fact that he can jump with the withdraw... idk but I'll give it another shot, usually I just default to Marth in that matchup

Not sure how many people toy around with this, or already know about it, but I've been playing around in the lab with Link's Bow in combination with his moonwalk. There are some jaaaaaaaaanky movements you can perform with it, and some funky angles you can get on your shots. You can bob and weave with that thing in ways I never thought of until I started trying it. B-reversing and whatever the correct term is for wavebouncing are really fun to combine with the physics behind the moonwalk. Try it out sometime.

Soggy Eagle, Player-0, and I were at another tourney in SC over the weekend. means like the majority of Link players from this board were at 2-tourneys... crazy.

EDIT so I don't double post (you're welcome Mods)

The best part of SKTAR's grand finals was watching the live @ Hylian Hylian reactions after each match. "Hmm I like how he used that woop woop move"

I actually went Link only one match in singles :x (I'm pretty sure at least)

Next tournament I'll probably pick one character and mess around with them for the whole tournament since I play at least half of the cast. Want to see how well I can do.

I don't think there's much of a chance I'll be using Link in Smash 4 unless Sakurai tweaks him some more. What I saw from the gameplay footage wasn't the most impressive of him.

Only things I can think of are to fix that grounded uB, get rid of the Gale Boomerang already, and fix that ****ing goofy animation of u-Air.

Grounded Up-B looks like it can be turned or something? Also it looks like the PAL version from Melee.

Unless that was the animation for Spin, which would then be awkward.

Nah, I meant the u-Air animation in where Link holds on for dear life as the Master Sword comes to life to take him into low orbit. Never saw him bust it out at the tournament, so I don't know if it's been changed already.

The game looked like brawl +1. Link looked like ass and there are auto ledge sweetspots and no dash dancing.

No hope.

Yes. I'm sick of people arguing vacuous optimism for the sake of attaining some ****ty moral high ground. It will be better than brawl but miles worse than melee or pm. And if I'm wrong you can quote me on this. But I'd rather rationally interpret the signs and be pessimistic than be duped a second time.

There's no metagame yet and for all we know it will evolve to the fast-paced game that Melee is once you give the Smash 4 backroom a chance to develop. If you want Melee 2.0, I would just stick with P:M. I'm not quitting Melee or P:M if I ever pick up Smash 4.

Besides, this is why we should remain optimistic:

I'm not so myopic that I will only settle for melee 2.0. But there are too many bad things kept from brawl for me to not be skeptical and cynical. And I'm ****ing SICK of Link being garbage in every game. And it's looking like it's going to happen yet again.

>One of the strongest on Castle on 64, one of the three stages legal in SSB (granted he's low-tier on those other two)

Characters being garbage don't stop people from succeeding. See: DJ Nintendo.

^ I have to disagree with super solid in Melee. The only high-placing Link these days is Lord HDL, who's way ahead in the skill gap from every other Link.

Also I'll note that DJN's Bowser is very rare. We'll probably never see him go all Bowser in tournaments nor see how high he'll place with him.

Amsa is a far better example.

Yeah don't ****ing start with me unless you know what you're talking about.

He's low tier in Melee. End of story. Melee is a very VERY mild exception because he's not Brawl bad, but it does not disprove my statement.

He's still second to last in 64, so thanks for disproving your own argument.

And just because people CAN succeed with bad characters does NOT justify making them intentionally bad over the course of 4 ****ing games.
