Speaking of cool, I'd really like to have them put in the unique sound effect for when sword moves clang that was in melee. The sudden ring of steel on steel made swordsmen battles so much cooler.

I'd just like a compendium of techniques and how to perform them, from the basic to the advanced (triple bomb punt for example). A pinned topic like that would be especially helpful to newcomers.

Are the servers going to not be ass like Brawl's? That would make my day. Er.. Night. 4 AM. Watching smash.

Speaking of which, Germ's Link is a pretty cool dude.

Edit: THIS JUST IN. Turns out, as I suspected, the Fair hits on the same frame as it did in Melee. Melee's animation just has less obvious startup which makes it seem faster.

I had no idea that the second slash only comes out 2 frames faster than in Melee... Weird. Melee's seemed slow as ****.

Yeah, I never connected with the second fair slash in melee. Although that was probably because I usually hit with the first one thanks to it being harder to read.

Does Germ play PM? I remember him being the go-to guy for any aspiring melee Links.

The second slash was also incredibly... Ass.

From what I know he doesn't play P:M

Watching him play Link in Melee made me appreciate all the things I have in P:M. I'm watching Link and he's so much worse in every single way

EXCEPT THAT DAMN NAIR HITBOX IT'S SO GOOD.

But yeah in Melee you have to create something out of nothing. In PM, you're just a good character.
Plz nerf Link so I can be a low tier hero plz

Idk I honestly don't care too much about the respect. If I only get it because of my character choice, then it's not worth that much to me.
But that **** I do hate, when people blame why they lost on my character.
They have no damn idea how much work I put into getting good with Link. Years of being bad. Years of working to make an ass character work to come out on the other side and be at a good level. And then it's all trivialized by my opponent because they don't like the boomerang.
Boo-hoo, scrub. Stop ****ing getting hit.

So I was up in this tournament, in Youngstown, (of all places) alright? And I was playing this random guy. And you know he's got that craaazy peach, that insane down smash. So I was playing my offensive game all over and beating the living hell out of him. It's 1-1. I got this ***** up to 250%. I'm at 100%, I think I'm sitting pretty. Alls I gotta do, is run in, hit him with the dash attack, and that's it I've done it. Game busters baby.

Ok seriously. I still ended up losing due to some mishaps that if I were to explain them would seem like johns despite, in my opinion, dominating the games for the most part.

I tell him I really enjoyed the match and I liked his peach. This was my first tournament and I was glad to finally be able to play in one after years and years of having to try and improve without tournament experience.

Know what he said?

"Yeah, Link is good in this game."
And he said it with the most palpable disdain for me.
I mean, how do you blame **** on someone's character like that?
It's insaaaaaaaaannnneee.
It's like he was implying that I was beneath him as a player and I only was doing what I was doing because my character was carrying me.

But yeah, bro. Thanks. Glad you're blaming you getting your ass handed to you on my character while disregarding the player skill.
I shouldn't get so offended, but I seriously get pissed off at it. Not to any extreme degree, but it's irritating.

I'll go with the situational attribution. I can't really be sure what his thoughts on it were, but that's just what I perceived.

Here's a fun tidbit of information: The spin attack cancel thing where you fall off the ledge with your up B to grab it and look flashy as ****, it turns out, this may or may not be known, but it's far easier to do if you jump cancel the spin attack. I think it helps you retain some of your momentum, be it from the moonwalk or the dash depending on your preferred method. But yeah. It's about 60% easier. I had no idea until now because I absolutely loathe tap jump and I accidentally forgot my tag when I was testing a texture thing and I tried it out because dat's wut I do and I got it 15 times in a row with no issue.

So now you all have an obligation to flash up the next tournament you go to by doing an unnecessarily complicated ledge grab technique.

That's actually one of Brawl's "mechanics". I never really thought about doing it with Link in P:M (or Tink for that matter). I think it used to be a Tink exclusive in Brawl.

Have you tried wavedashing into the ledge then doing an up-b or is the wave dash momentum gone by the time you can use the up-b? I'd try it myself but don't really have a wii with me at the moment :p

It was a mechanic in Melee as well.

I don't think his wavedash retains its momentum long enough to make that work easily. I'm sure it's possible, but I personally think it's not worth the effort to try over the moonwalk/dash JC method mentioned above.

I use Tap Jump and am just like LOL 100% CONSISTENCY AND IDK EVEN KNOW WHAT THIS DO.

I wish they could make it so if you landed while in the Spin Attack animation there was like, normal landing lag and not special. I could get the flashiest combos ever. I'm still gonna try for it though. Battlefield here we go yo.

Also Spin attack from the first platform on BF to the ledge. Legit.

I do spin attack from the platform on Green Skill Zone down to the ledge.

The BF one is what I did in tournament that made everyone go OH DAMN

Edit: On a positive note, I just finished this

DOES Legan still play? Deva?

I saw that match btw. I didn't think you were going to win.

Not even Brawl anymore? Legan, Deva, and Izaw were like my three favorite people ever when I was younger. =/

Especially not brawl haha. I've played some PM and melee with him every now and then but I haven't seen him play brawl since I quit.

I mean, that's good. But I'd rather him play Bwarl than nothing.

Or maybe not. I don't even know anymore. He was inspirational in Brawl basically. But I wouldn't wish that game upon my middle-of-the-road enemy so...

Lol. I had no tournaments, and no opponents outside of my little brother. I was only able to learn by watching them.

Deva was da shiz. Founded the Brawl Link metagame and repped like no other. Izaw was cool but is a little overrated. Legan is awesome, too.

But anyways, I'm back from college. I'm starting to play P:M regularly once again.

You have to jump cancel an Up B at the ledge in order to ledge grab with spin attack. It's easier with tap jump, but doable without it.

You can do it without JC. Just have to say it to make my suffering justified. I plan on making a link AT guide this week btw. Making a list of what to include in my head.

You have to input jump before you drift off, up before the b and b after you drift off the ledge, but before jumpsquat is over. You need to JC it (!) if you aren't doing it with a frameperfect pivot. If you use tap jump on though you automatically do the jump.

I find it easier to do in Melee for some reason... And I use tap jump on for both (because you can't change it in Melee). Must mean that you should be frame perfect, always?

It's not that real. It's just a matter if getting a feel for it. Practicing unnecessary flash lol.

Link tech I've been working on for SKTAR:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AhT7J_FDnt4&t=32m58s

Bair on someones shield or in front of them and they will try to shield grab because bair isn't safe on shield, so you waveland behind them and punish. Wavelanding away and then turn around fsmash works quite nicely as well.

So I'm assuming your waveland has so much distance because you're doing it frame perfect or...?
Or does it have to do with the angle?
