Yeah. Wobble's topic gave me an idea. Sure, Randall sometimes messes up my edgeguards... LOL. Randall's just saying "**** you doc".

Anyways, Here's why I'm making this.

I was playing Smuckers, at Rom3. He seems to be a good Pika. It was a close match, we were down to last stock, high percent, yada yada, and I fsmash. Whoo hoo he should be dead!

NO IT WAS A PHANTOM HIT AND THEN I DIED SOME HOW AGGHHHHh

No, I haven't, but a flying falcon punch that hit and phantomed would be soooooo hilarious.

(good example would be Scar and his double flying off stage falcon punch SOMEHOW being a phantom, that would make me die of laughter)

Phantom Fsmash with Marth should be an instant kill. It's as much of a tipper as you can possibly get.

Their character should just disintegrate from existence (like Nana after Popo dies).
When I'm playing against icies, and I kill popo upwards but nana still lives [THAT *****] I like to time my Fsmash on her just right so that it seems as if I fsmashed her to non existence muahahahah.

don't phantom hits occur from hitbox and hurtbox being tangent to eachother and not actually touching? So, essientially you shouldn't have hit but the game decided to give you some damage anyways. Personally I'd rather have a phantom hit than a whiff.

I phantom occasionally. Does this mean I have bad spacing?

Even though this is the definition, this fails to explain how Falco's Lasers can also cause phantom hits.

Given that his lasers travel infinitely across the screen, its impossible for them to be tangent to a characters vertical body, but i guess it could be argued that it could phantom hit ducking puff/sheik etc

However, I've shot people square in the chest before and they kept coming like nymphomaniacs that masterbate.

It means your spacing is so good that the game can't handle it. That's what I fell myself anyway.
Looool I tell my self that sometimes too but I can never be sure.

Yes, a phantom hit occurs when a hitbox and hurtbox are tangential... so one more pixel in one direction would result in a normal hit and one in the other direction would result in a miss.

My Luigi has been phantom hit in the air by a homing missile. He caught on fire but the missile continued on and blew up afterwards.

I remember saying this in a youtube video once, and some guy named yayuhz told me I was wrong and that i'm an idiot. And I got like 30 thumbs down :\

Maybe I got the thumbsdown cuz I said that the phantom hit was the players fault for too much spacing.

So ever since that happened I always questioned myself. cuz the guy sounded SO sure.

Being in tangent with something BY DEFINITION means touching it.

"–adjective
1.
in immediate physical contact; touching.
2.
Geometry .
a.
touching at a single point, as a tangent in relation to a curve or surface.
b.
in contact along a single line or element, as a plane with a cylinder.
"

So as far as Marth is concerned, it's just the extreme end of hitting with "the tip of your sword" Q_Q.
