I found out Zelda music makes me work better. I'm listening to every Zelda track in every game while I work on stuff for school. It works so well, I turned in an assignment due a week from Monday in today...well, it should be due next Monday, but what with a full week long break and all, it postpones, but two school days early is good for a college student!

Dude, ever since you posted this link I've been listening to this nonstop. After looking at some more Ocarina of Rhyme mixes, this is one of the few that I think is at least halfway decent (even though OoR has a pretty interesting concept overall).
Glad you like it! I agree that the original idea was cool, but the only two I can listen to more than once are that one and the Goron City one. Some of the Metal remixes of Zelda songs are pretty sweet too. This one's probably my favorite.

Yay Zelda!

Hm...that's an interesting idea. I'm going to test that out right now.

Music normally makes me work a lot better, but recently it's been distracting me instead, and I'm not particularly sure why. But I don't think I've ever given Zelda music a shot in that situation.

Seeing clownbot quote this really reminded me just how much I hate Ocarina of Rhyme. All it is is taking the lyrics from a rap song and slamming them on top of a song from Zelda. The lyrics are absolutely irrelevant to Zelda, and there is absolutely zero talent behind getting the lyrical track from one song, and just laying it over another beat. This is an insult to both Zelda, and most likely to the rappers who made the songs - If they actually, you know, remixed it a bit, then I'd be cool with it. But just copy+pasting lyrics? That is nothing more than an insult.

I too listen to Zelda music while I work at times. I've assembled a number of rotational playlists to work by and have found that the best tunes to listen to are:

Inside the Deku Tree (OoT)
Lake Hylia (TP)
Fishing Hole (TP)
Faron Woods
Ordon Village
Kakariko Village (TP)
Kakariko Graveyard (TP)
Ikana Canyon
Zora's Domain (OoT/TP)
Snowpeak
Gerudo's Desert (TP)
Twilight
Palace of Twilight
City in the Sky
Hyrule Field (Night)

Wow, goes to show that most of the ambient, calmer tracks are from Twilight Princess. I really love its score.

I found the most beautiful demonstration of live Zelda music ever. An 11 minute Twilight Princess medley:

Does anyone know where I can find some hard metal/epic mete/fantasy metal/ or power metal versions of zelda songs? Power, wisdom, and courage is the only one I know.

Well, pretty much every game metal band has a Zelda remix. Checking out the Minibosses, NESkimos, Game Over, and I'd even say look at Duane and Brand0s catalog of songs and see if they have anything Zelda-related. Newgrounds also probably has some stuff.

Yeah, there's various stuff here and there, but I think he may have been referring to the quality of Metroid Metal and The Black Mages
(I know Skyler...)
.

Oh man, country versions of Zelda music done by legitimate Nashville session artists like Bobby Ogdin and Russ Hicks... oh man. I can see it now:

- Hyrule Field Medley (classic, OoT, WW [Ocean], and TP)
- Lon Lon Ranch/Epona's Theme
- Horse Race
- Kakariko Village (OoT)
- Kakariko Village (TP)
- House
- Windfall Island
- Outset Island
- Ordon Village
- Lake Hylia
- Fishing Hole
- Hidden Village
- Gerudo Valley
- Kakariko Village (Orchestra Version [OoT]; amazing ending)

That would be truly inspirational and one of the best things that could happen to Zelda music in my opinion.

I think for the time and place, Hidden Village was probably the most mood-setting music in a Zelda game I've ever heard XD

I'm just copy and pasting these into Youtube while studying for my art history exam tomorrow morning. Thank you so much.

Currently on Faron Woods while reading about Minoan artwork - it makes the whole thing about a billion times more mystical.

well, first of all, I disagree partially because I like OoR, but also because I think you're wrong about it taking no talent, and also, i think that that is kind of irrelevant. For one, slapping some lyrics on a song is not as easy as you make it sound, you realize that not every song will work on any given beat? If they didn't find the right raps to go over the OoT songs, then it wouldn't have sounded good at all. Secondly, why is that even an issue? That shouldn't influence whether or not it sounds good, and personally, I think it sounds awesome, so I don't really care if they made it in two minutes.

btw, anyone seen video games live? they played really awesome zelda music. that was my favorite section.

I'm going to have to agree with you. It's not an artistic masterpiece, but all forms of work don't have to be pure to be good. Slapping together whatever materials you can find can often yield interesting results, and in this case, the Ocarina of Rhyme turned out to work. I find it interesting that as unique as something may seem, there's always something out there that's similar in some regard. Finding the beauty in that is the true work, and whoever found the semblance between OoT songs and the rap used with it found beauty in their unlikely and unintended synchronization.

I'll be entirely honest when I say that Zelda's Lullaby, and it's many iterations choke me up each and every time I listen to it.

Zora's Domain (especially the Twilight Princess rendition) is one of the most pleasant collections of sound that have ever graced my ears.

Has anybody felt a strange sense of solemness when listening to Saria's Song? On the surface, it seems quite upbeat, but I always find myself in a reflective mood when I listen to it, though that may or may not be my mind associating the storyline events that occur while the song is playing.

Either way, Legend of Zelda, in my humble opinion, has some of the most emotionally provocative music, beyond just the scope of video games.

Ocarina of Rhyme kind of reminds me of this, except not as good:

Listening to music takes talent? I'm... not quite sure what you were getting at here. Sure, you'd have to listen to music a lot, but most people already DO listen to music a lot. It doesn't take very much talent at all to tell when something sounds good or to tell if it sounds bad.

Secondly, why is that even an issue? That shouldn't influence whether or not it sounds good, and personally, I think it sounds awesome, so I don't really care if they made it in two minutes.
It's an issue because Ocarina of Rhyme takes itself seriously. If it was like that Snoop Dogg/Kirby Remix I'd have no problem with it. However, Team Teamwork sees Ocarina of Rhyme as a serious musical endeavor, which it most definitely is not.

Ocarina of Rhyme takes itself seriously? I was under the impression that it was just a spoof and that's where my liking of it comes from. Taking it seriously is practically a crime. I find enjoyment in it as a joke effort.

Actually better question: who takes OoR seriously? Because it's most likely the audience that determines that rather than the creator. I honestly have no knowledge of the background information on it.

The Kirby/Snoop Dogg thing is pure awesome though.

for the first point, I'll merely say that I doubt most people could make OoR, and that you most certainly could not.

As for the second, well then they're dumb. I don't take it seriously, I just take it as something I think sounds cool, and like to listen to because it's interesting. that's all.

btw, the snoop/kirby thing is funny, and cool, but it's not as well done (besides the video) OoR imo.

I don't listen to OoR to get my kicks, I listen to it because I actually like some of the music.

Seven years of playing guitar and a good three of music theory. I most certainly could. Somebody who just listens to music a lot could. It's not that hard to judge if a lyric track sounds good on an instrument track.

Yea, I think we just disagree so we should just stop arguing, not going anywhere. I do kind of agree with you and disagree with myself in all honesty about the first point. I think I just cling to ideals too much.

How about we discuss some real zelda music? Seems like everyone's just jumping on zelda's c*** right now, so what about songs we don't like in the Zelda series? I'm not sure I can think of one off the top of my head (of course it's harder to remember something you don't like anyways). I think someone was praising the city in the sky music earlier, but I'm not sure I like it that much. It's quirky and kind of cool, but I don't think it's that great.

I'd love to discuss the music I don't like. Good idea Wuss.

So I'll start with the shooting gallery theme from OoT. It always felt like it didn't belong in the game, but in an honestly terrifying way. It brings about a horrifying connotation of carnival and renaissance and unsettles me every time I hear it.

Oh my gosh, the theme from Twilight Princess when you're facing Ganon as a beast.

Ugh that song annoyed me so much, those "guys" singing in the backround was truly obnoxious! I wouldn't be able to focus.

Molgera's Theme! :D

I always liked Jalhalla's music better (as well as most of the other boss music from WW, Jalhalla's just stands out as a favorite of mine <3).

High five! 99% of people like the theme, but it's just silly. Jalhalla's is indeed far better.

Sorry Spire I just couldn't take it. Now that you mention it the theme you were taking about, when you did minigames and such in Ocarina of Time was really unsettling. I just listened to it and it doesn't fit.

I don't blame you. The Ganon battle theme really doesn't fit in with Zelda, but it reminds me so much of the Fire Temple music that I just can't dislike it ;)

And good, I'm glad you understand about the minigame music. It's haunting and unnerving and it really makes me feel nauseous every time I hear it.

It leads you to believe the actual Zelda theme is gonna play, then surprises you with a not bad, but not as good as the original theme music. It bugs me.

But I only hate it because it decieves me. I love Zelda music so much, that there is really nothing in any game I don't hate/think doesn't fit. I could actually stay in the mini-game rooms for hours listening to the music (not that I would, mind you, I'd probably off in the Forest Temple's main room listening to that music).

Agreed, everyone always talks about how great Molgera's Theme is, but I never really liked it. The Mini-Boss theme was always my favorite battle theme of WW, and behind that, definitely Jalhalla.

It's hard to think of music I don't like by myself...there are some songs that I don't necessarily like in and of themselves, but appreciate them, especially for the purpose they serve.

For example, the Earth Temple in WW had music that creeped me out (especially in conjuction with the temple), but I appreciate it in context, especially BECAUSE it creeped me out. You know music is good when it has an impact on your emotions in some way, even if it's a feeling that's initially perceived as bad.

However, this morning when I woke up I randomly decided to put on my iPod and listen to Lake Hylia from Twilight Princess...I love that music, it's so calming. Then I kept scrolling through my playlist of Twilight Princess music, until I got to the City in the Sky music. The combination of that music and the light filtering through my window...I can't even describe it. It was so beautiful.

Just thought I'd share that. Zelda has such amazing music.

That sounds pretty cool. Last December, I saw Video Games Live, which was a similar type of thing, and it also featured a set of Zelda music, although not for the finale. It was in the second half though. Great stuff.

Also, off topic, but the conductor is in Mannheim Steamroller? That makes it 10x cooler.

Although I've only played... Two Zelda games in their entirety (TP and PH), I do love the LoZ's music.

And therefore, I'd like a bit of help... I'm looking for a site that allows one to freely download MP3 files to one's computer that works simply and effectively on dial-up Internet Explorer.

I've searched on and off and never found anything. >_>;

But aside from that, I'll make my own top five list...

5: Boss theme: Beast Ganon (TP)

4: Boss theme: Puppet Zelda (TP)

3: Boss theme: Argorok (TP) (Or... whatever the boss of the City in the Sky is named >_>)

2: Credits (TP)

1: Boss theme: Ganondorf (TP; swordfight)

Lol, too many boss themes.

Expand your horizons and play the other games. They all have great music.
I'm sure they do. I've watched my friend play OoT and Majora's Mask, and I've played a bit of OoT myself, but I honestly didn't care much for most of the music... I do like most of what I've heard from him playing Wind Waker, though.
