Oh yeah, about platform cancelling. It doesn't work on Battlefield.
This works on Lylat Cruise, Rainbow Cruise, Frigate Orpheon, Yoshi's Island, Delfino Plaza, Halberd, and Smashville. It has something to do with Platforms that move or tilt instead of stationary platforms.
I'm not sure if this will make Links like Frigate but it will help Link move even faster on stages like Smashville and Lylat.

hopefully as a bit of a mixup since I love dash > shield (plus it works while holding a bomb and leaves me less committed than cramping up my hand holding in A for a bombsmash).
Set R to 'attack'. I <3 bombsmashes:

Oh, I thought you meant with moves like Fair, Zair, etc.
Oh man, guys, Skyward Sword! It's looking to be pretty awesome (dem Moblins are ugly *****es though). I take it y'all have seen this trailer for it, right?

Yeah, it's looking really cool. Wait a minute...

Well... I just remembered that Link can sort of Platform cancel on Battlefield but it not actually platform cancelling. You see, Platforn cancelling is designed to cancel any(most) lag you have after an aerial, itemthrow, etc. Link's jumps have the perfect height to utilize this tech but he can't platform cancel on Battlefield with any of his moves..... except Zair!!! Zair already has no lag anyways so you should be able to "pseudo" platform cancel with it. The only problem with this is that the Zair is now aimed high up to hit tall opponents since your jumping up to Zair and land on the platform. You can fallthrough platform and Zair to hit short opponents but thats the only way your going to hit them.

Still, if you combine this tech with Link's other platform techs like boomerang gliding, bombplanting or c4 and a couple of others, Link will actually have a solid platform game.

BTW, i'm starting to like skyward sword alot more now. The gameplay look awesome!! I didn't like it before because it gave off this vibe that the game would be gimmicky or w/e. Somebody slap me for thinking that Nintendo would actually mess up with a series they NEVER mess up with. One thing tho. I would really like to see the characters in the storyline (humans, Gorons, whoever). I've only seen Link and that guy who thinks he is better than ganon. The place looks abandoned.

Haha, I could try that, the problem is the way I hold my controller that'd be my pinky trying to push down R, which would suck more than just sliding my hand down to A. I actually recommended that to my brother when he was thinking about using Snake a while back.

And yeah, you can definitely hear the Zelda's lullaby backwards in the original. You know, I always kinda liked the way Skyward Sword looked style-wise. Honestly, I wasn't as huge a fan of TP's graphics for some reason; I preferred Wind Waker's cel-shaded graphics a lot more. Plus, Tales of Symphonia's one of my favorite games and they go the cel-shaded route too. I think I just don't care so much about graphics, as long as the storyline and gameplay are good. Heck, I probably value a good soundtrack over good graphics. Probably why I prefer the Wii over the PS3, ha.

I didn't really like ToS. It was okay but there are other RPGs of that sort that i felt were better. The Star Ocean series has a similar battle style to that of the Tales series, but idk i just liked it better.

Haha, I was the exact opposite. I didn't like the Star Ocean I played very much, and it was supposed to be the best of the lot (I think it was Til The End of Time? The main character had blue hair, I think his name was Fayt), whereas I loved ToS and TotA.

Thats pretty great. They should totally do an asian style LoZ game. I dont see why they couldn't. They did two with islands and one on a train. That and Sheik was basically a Ninja already.

IDK of TIll the End of Time was really the best one. It was probablyt he best looking one. I really liked i think the with the guy possessed by 2 dragons. Though tales of Destiny 2 i think it was, is pretty good. But then again im more of a fan of character sprites than 3D models.

Car commercials, ugh. What was that?

In other news I'm dropping G&W; he's not right for me. Many medium high tiers feel wrong for some reason. Zelda and PT are still my secondaries.
I'm thinking maybe Pit next. What do you think Negi?

idk The way you play it might not work out with Pit. His smashes are really weak as is, if you spam them it will take you forever to kill someone. I cant see why you dont play Wolf. Seems like that would be a natural character for you. All wolf needs to do is smash spam and he can win.

OK, what's with that car commercial? Is the message "buy Toyotas and you'll turn into an anime character?"

It's weird; honestly I don't think Link is a very natural character to me. I had to work much harder to use him than I did other characters (even his steep learning curve aside). I think I naturally tend to do better with floaty characters with strong air games. Wario, Peach, Wolf, and Kirby are the kind of characters I have an easier time just picking up and playing. I think it kinda shows too in that I spend a lot of time in the air as Link and spam the one thing Link is near the top at in the air; his fast fall (2nd to D3).

Personally, Rizen, I'd say try to pick up Snake. You seem to be a very ground-based player, and Snake has the kind of ground game I think you'd be good at. Personally, I suck as Snake though, haha.

I suck at floaty characters. I want to be able to play Luigi and Samus but i just cant get the timing. Link came pretty natural to me since i really like mid range combat. Which explains Pit, TL, PT, and Mario.

Does anyone think that Fsmash2 of Link's suck? I think Fsmash one is a really good move on the other hand. It seems like a move that hardly gets punished and it's such a good spacer. [

Also does anyone grab with Link?

I have such a bad habit of grabbing. His grab is so bad, I think Link players shouldn't grab at all >.>

this "!" is part of my nick (Chile)
his second slash sucks, is so weak in comparation with the melee one, and slower

i grab with this Link, his F and Btrhow have more knockback, so is useful as aGTFO move, his Utrhow can kill, but his Dthow isnt so good as the melee one

I kill more with Link's second slash, usually opponent sidesteps my 1st slash and then the 2nd one gets the fatal blow. If it doesn't kill it gives a good knock back for me to reposition things.
As for Link's grab, I don't recommend it on faster characters like sonic, toon link, metaknight, etc since they are harder for me. But best way to grab is pivots/just moving a bit before you actually grab, I feel a standing grab if its not out of sheild is easier for your opponent to read and dodge

HERP DERP I LURV PIVOT GRABS. Seriously, I use them too much and try to be too cute with them.
I remember talking to someone at a tourney recently and they said "Link's I play never grab so I don't mind just hiding in my shield most of the time." You can't be grab-happy but I think you have to at least grab enough to force your opponent to respect it; otherwise it shuts down too many other options for you.

A use for fsmash 2 is to make smashing safe when your opponent is near the edge. It has enough shield push if they're near the edge, it will push them off and make it not very punishable. I tend to panic and use it when I whiff fsmash 1 a good bit though. Its primary use is just to be there so fsmash 1 becomes less punishable, imo.

Oh yeah pivot grab is pretty good, I think I tend to get the grab more when I pivot grab, especially when they land or like I do a mind game.

I grab so often and it almost always works out for me and i barely ever pivot grab. I feel his grab works out much better than when i use Pits grab. Though if they do start to predict my grabs i lessen the usage. I just love Link's Dthrow as well. I can usually chain at least 2 Dthrows once per match. Plus you can follow it up with Bair, Utilt, and Ftilt. Opponents will most often Air Dodge after the Dthrow, so its easy to just calmly wait and then punish them after their air dodge.

As for Fsmash 2 i barely use it as well. It has too much ending lag for me. As huggles said i only use it to push people off the ledge when they shield so they can't counter my Fsmash. I also barely use Link's Usmash for the same reason. There are just too many frames where he is just standing stupidly with no hit box. However, Fsmash 1 is pretty great it has Range, Speed, and Power. It makes it great for kills if you keep it fresh. It is a lot less likely to be counter as well since Link can still use his second hit of Fsmash if need be.

Also i feel like i should change my color. It seems like everyone just loves to use Blue Link. I would totally change it but im pretty set in my ways with blue link. Green isn't much better since my other characters look terrible in green and green is standard Link so lot of people use it. The white is probably the least common but im not really a fan of KKK Link. I dont like dark Link either. Yellow or red might be okay... IDK maybe i'll just stay blue.

I like Fsmash2 for reasons X and Huggles said, it's always fresh, and a lot better on wifi lol. Good to know:
Ftilt:
Frame 14: Hitbox out: 13 damage, 4 frame duration.
NOTE: frame 14 is the frame the backswing activates. Figure an opponent on the ground in front of you will be hit on frame 16 at the earliest.
Frame 39: IASA
Fsmash
8 frames until charging. Upon release:
Frame 5 (uncharged 13 frames total): Hitbox out: 3 frame duration.
--Damage: Blade = Hilt = 15. Arm = Torso = 14.
Frame 10: You can begin FSmash 2.
Frame 39: IASA

Ftilt can be a good higher/more behind reaching substitute for Fsmash1: It's 1 frame slower to start (above/behind Link) and has the same IASA.

I find shield grabs are the best grab option because the opponent is busy ending a move so they can't dodge. Wifi grabs are also better aka less punishable than offline so I do use grab sometimes.

If you've noticed in my matches, I don't stick to a colour. I try to use most of the colours for Link, the only one that I don't touch that much is the lavender one. *Shudders*

Yeah, but my idea of a niche is a board where I can actively post and contribute. Obviously I love you guys, but I can't really participate in any of the projects going on here.
