I've got a tourny on the 9th i gatta win, or at least do well in

my main thing is short hop> fastfall> Nair in to dancing blade, but I know and most oppents know all they hafta do is Shield grab.

I'm not good with Dtilt poke setups and I'm afraid its too sudden to change my ways.

Plz Marth Mainers, assist me in victory FOR IT WILL B ALL OF OURS!!! against the metaknights that plague the flippin roster

you said this was your first tourny .. right?

you'll probably get *****. specially if you approach with nair as your "main thing"

just go and try to learn from other players and get better.

Don't approach with nair, change that habit and quick. You'll get your *** handed to you doing that unless its against like snake or D3.

Always go in thinking you can win without being cocky
Even though the fact is you'll probably loose, you'll play better if you go in thinking you can win. But whatever happens, just learn from it. Half the point of tournaments is just being able to play a bunch of people who are good at smash so you can get better. =b

know metaknight/snake/ddd setups very very well. you can do this in training mode then try it on level 9s. thats the best you can do right now.

You mean ways to get positioned for a dtilt? Or followups afterwards?

Dtilt outranges the first hit of Snakes ftilt, beats his jab, and his dtilt. Dtilt is nice against Snake and since he is heavy it leads to dancing blade at higher percents. To position for a dtilt you can simply spot dodge any of his moves and punish with it. Or you can use it during your approach sparingly.

Or we could like... stop spoon feeding.

While I enjoy helping people and I encourage all of you to, the basic information he is asking IS ALL OVER THIS BOARD.

Seriously, you've been here for awhile. Read, go the tourney, learn. Don't expect us to tell you "what dtilt is for."

True that, I just got like last at a tourney on Saturday, but then again I didn't think i was going to do well.

Really if it's your first tourney, you won't be able to assess what you're doing right/wrong beforehand. Only when you're being punished by your habits do you begin to see your faults.

That being said, try to do friendlies to gauge your skill in measure of there's. Take to heart the mistakes you're consistently making.

Your first tourney should be done in a "Play to Learn" mentality more than "Play to Win."

But do not falter and give it your all.

I suggest learning to meteor smash. Though if you havent mastered it yet, dont bother to learn it now, because when you think you have it down, you're just gona obsess over it and mess up. So if you haven't learned to effectively meteor smash, learn to do it after this tourny on the 9th. Just keep to your basics like short hopping and aerials and you should be fine, and listen to the higher ups on this board cuz I'm not one of them yet.

Also I see VG mentioned fight friendlies, If you want, we can exchange FC, and we can have WIFI friendlies occasionally. I could use a collection of MArth players to my friend list. I think I have a decent Marth, I think you should have a sparring partner like me.

Bomber, It's really not that hard, I think, I actually almost never try to go for meteor smashes when I'm practicing, but at my first tourney I did it to at least 4 people, I didn't expect to, I guess it just kicked in as a reflex to try to get an easy kill, I don't know, because I didn't miss may, only like 2, and I've never tried to really learn the spacing. It's not really essential at all to becoming good, but it helps if you are down.

Eh, Tipper Dair is easy once you get used to it. Gimping is more reliable though. People get afraid of my Dair and Fast Fall near the edge when I jump out, to avoid it. It's dumb, and annoying. I wish they would just get spiked.

i learnt if you wanna win tourneys dont appoarch ,

if you are forced too space airs not to hit them , to make them react,

to **** chars

with marth

just upthrow , keeping throwing up , nair 2 hits cant airdoge , reverse upairs cant airdodge , >B combos cant airdoge , if they airdodge (and you dont react) simply regrab upthrow again,

i know thats a broken way to plan and very lame but i won 7 tourneys with doing that

i dont play like that now atm ,

i got a better style

but now my marth style is based on double bairs (jump bair >B bair) and upsmashes
