Lol second game of finals was Skyworld. Oh and they made it best 2 of 3 instead of 3 of 5.

This tourney is so legit :/
Skyworld is a legit counterpick (at least back room thinks so) and finals aren't always 3 out of 5. If you are going to attack the legitimacy of evo you then at least mention the character change vs the stage change, one instead of the other, first.

I've looked at the item standard rule set and that was ridiculous compared to evo. All you have to do is wait and glide toss the homerun bat...

Really Skyworld? I'd like to see the discussion on this stage. But I'll MM my GW your whatever to show how ridiculous it is. Any amount of money.

As a tournament organizer I am never allowing that stage.

And I was just saying the things that came to my head not listing every single thing wrong with EVO which there is probably too many to list anyway.

Finals are always 3/5. What tournaments have you been going to?

Bah Glenn, I wanted people to catch the attention. There’s a lot of non tourney people who visit that place but a few of us would like to know what has been going on. I know items don’t mean a thing but when’s the last time you saw Ken at a tourney? Been a while. What are you doing around NS2 anyways?
np

I have sitemeter, so I tracked a random visitor and went "WTF nintendo forum?"

If it were that ridiculous why would I have any reason to money match you?

Besides the occasional local tournament, not many. I probably watched some vids from a house tourney where they only went 2 out of 3. I'm not going to argue that every single tournament out there goes 3 out of 5 for the finals or every single tournament out there doesn't go 3 out of 5 for the finals.

allright i guess i'm whoring skyworld from now on just to show how ghey it is

"The ability to spike people from the stage through the clouds made this an instant ban for many in the SBR, but after closer looks we found that it is possible to destroy the top plats for saftey and the ability to tech, DI strongly, or fight elsewhere led this to being a viable counterpick as well."

lol so if I'm playing gw I can just puff puff to unstale my moves and use my strong vertical game to absolutely wreck anyone camping at the top, if they come down its a instant spike d-throw.

eh i'll give it a second chance I guess *puts it on the random stage selector*

Skyworld is pretty wak imo. The whole stage is just like the no-death zone from the Melee Temple until the floor breaks that is. Most of the deaths would be from ceiling spiking and/or people not being able to grab the edge once the bottom floor has been broken.

:l

I don't think that even Sonic's final smash can make up for how terrible he is. =P
even though this is true.....the fact that some people know it now makes me wanna play brawl again lol
That's part of what makes using low tiers so much fun. :)

Maybe one of the people that played him could verify. He doesn't have a profile on AiB with the "?"

edit: he does have a profile, and he's from Lancaster.

Not to detract too much from the internet stalking because the kid is from Chino Hills, and that's it. Jeez...

But, despite him winning with items, the kid was a GOOD player. He was a smart ROB and out-mind-gamed Ken on many occasions. Items is just a preference, and really, when it comes right down to it, I'm sure that if certain players had more experience with items (or Snake/ROB) match-ups they would have won like they were arrogantly positive they were going to.

I have more fun with items off, but if I didn't see with my own eyes how knowledgeable that kid was with his item use and abuse, and if Ken DID win with his minimal Brawl experience, then I would agree that items do make things random. But from firsthand experience, I'd have to disagree and say that item play, although not as fun, does require skill and knowledge to excel at. There was nothing random about that kid winning other than his appearance from seemingly nowhere.

The thing is, if items didn't take bardull out, he may have won too. It's not that items necessarily helped CPU win, it's that somewhere along the line they messed someone up who could have beaten him.

I agree Edrees. I 130% agree. Items did hurt Bardull. But so did him switching over to D3 in the second match against a pretty good Peach.

Now, I don't know Bardull well enough, and I do think he's good (if not better than Ken at Brawl because items were screwing him over in their match together), but if you're going to enter an items tournament, wouldn't you expect items to mess you up? Because, you know, they're in there? I'm not saying I would have done things differently than Bardull, because there are too many variables on how to respond in certain situations, etc etc. I really respect the guy and how he plays, but it showed that he had no experience with items when I'm pretty sure I heard him ask Ken, "oh wow, you can stop Marth's final smash?"

I'm not trying to say I'm god awesome at items play, because I was able to recognize that my lack of item knowledge hurt me in my matches against CPU.

i think it's awesome that some kid who learned how to **** items took this tournament. it's even more apropos that ken was the guy he beat in the finals.

random occurrences like this are what lead many people to believe in "fate" and stuff like that. good ****.
