You can't just take prize money back...
If somebody messes up money distribution it's not the recipient's fault.

Of course I can't make him return it if he refuses.

Doesn't mean I can't ask for him to do the honest thing and help fix an accounting mistake.

It's not doing the honest thing. M2K did nothing wrong in the first place by taking the money you guys gave him. If you want to give Fino the money he deserves then it's best to take that money from elsewhere.

We can agree that the following is morally right: Person A receives the correct payment for his prize.

However, the following occurred:

Person A receives an overpayment for X item.

Person A can decide to keep the money. At which point giver of X is victimized.
Or
Person A can give the money he was overpaid back. At which point, what was supposed to happen occurs, so be relativism it is morally sound. And there are no victims.

So one choice victimizes someone while the other is equal to antecedent that we are morally relating to.


If he says no, of course it would be a gray area in terms of honesty
For example, using the same symbolic logic:

John Doe accidentally overpays his taxes on his taxes to the US government
US government decides to keep the money.

John Doe is victimized.

If the government refunds the money, is the government victimized? No, the tax debt is simply paid in full.

The decision is in the faculty of M2K's weighing whatever moral criteria he uses.

You can make the argument that maybe we shouldn't have put him in the position where he had to make this decision. That is true and it's been admitted to.

I agree it's not M2K's fault. It's mine. The issue isn't about fault. It's about correcting a situation. To say that there isn't a more morally right or more morally wrong decision on his end would be fallacious.

There's just a laissez faire attitude to distributing it illegally since it's seen as an "unsightly" industry.

Also, cam*****s make buttloads of money as do almost any girls/women willing to be naked on camera. SOMEBODY is paying somebody.
