Damn it Rob, it's like you live to foil me.Well, I'm in Canada right now, so......
But... but I like doing that. =/Just because you can doesn't mean you should...
What a wonderful first post. Welcome. While most of the newcomers are some great additions to the roster, the only one I would genuinely be excited to see is K. Rool. Or any villain at this point, with the way the reveals are trending. Nintendo has an excellent rogue's gallery, and to not draw from it in this installment would be a shame.
You knock him out and the game's credits start playing, and the words cause damage. How would K. Rool even work as a stage boss? You have guys like the Yellow Devil and presumably Ridley in there as stage hazards that explode when defeated as an incentive to defeat them. Does K. Rool just drop dead as bananas rain down or something? Blegh, just thinking about something so forced makes me want to go shower. K. Rool would be just as bad of a Smash boss as Ridley.
I have to admit, after Ridley's regrettable exclusion, I'm wondering if we'll see more villains. Ridley is really prolific, and seeing him passed over does nothing for my hopes for characters like Black Shadow, Mewtwo, or K. Rool. While most of the newcomers are some great additions to the roster, the only one I would genuinely be excited to see is K. Rool. If it helps at all, Brawl had six Pokemon characters and we currently have only four spots filled.I have to admit, after Ridley's regrettable exclusion, I'm wondering if we'll see more villains. I'm actually a little worried that far too many newcomers will be "unique" and "unexpected" additions that no one asked for, but we have to love anyway, because you're obviously an entitled brat if you don't. But you can tear the gameplay and stages to pieces, that's fine.
No, I'm not bitter/worried about rumors flying around.
I have the same worry. Beyond Mega Man and, to a lesser extent, Little Mac, all the newcomers are characters that are, as you said, unexpected or at least not a ton of people necessarily wanting them. Not that having left field choices is bad, but the vibe Sakurai seems to be giving off is uniqueness and relative obscurity over popularity.I'm actually a little worried that far too many newcomers will be "unique" and "unexpected" additions that no one asked for
I feel the same way as well. Judging from what we've seen so far, this seems to be the actual case. Best case scenario at this point may be that the more obscure and "unique" choices are just being shown off first in order to advertise other games and promote the flashier new movesets. More "mundane" and requested characters like K. Rool might just end up being secret characters or revealed close to release, since they're not as marketable.I'm actually a little worried that far too many newcomers will be "unique" and "unexpected" additions that no one asked for, but we have to love anyway, because you're obviously an entitled brat if you don't.
Took the words out of my mouth. Glad to know I won't be the only one infuriated if that indeed ends up the case.I'm actually a little worried that far too many newcomers will be "unique" and "unexpected" additions that no one asked for, but we have to love anyway, because you're obviously an entitled brat if you don't. Offense taken.King K Rool in Smash? Eh, I kinda doubt, but it's possible. I'll support, but I'd prefer Dixie Kong. No offense.
Watch something like this happen if Ridley is announced to be playable and droves of people come back to him saying, "I've supported him all along" or some BS like that.Offense taken.
This is exactly what I was talking about. People are scurrying out of their backwater support threads for that one character that was in that one game that one time who totally should be in Smash, threads for TWO Sonic characters to be in Smash, and other (for lack of better words) stupid crap like that. Then Kremlings are shown and it's like everyone who doubted Noah is running to the ark once **** starts getting real.
I'm generally an unpleasant person anyway, but something about bandwagoners just really brings out the worst in me.Watch something like this happen if Ridley is announced to be playable and droves of people come back to him saying, "I've supported him all along" or some BS like that.
This, too, is possible. There's a chance he gets shown at E3, but people oughtn't be worried if he's not there. We're getting 2, maybe 3 newcomers there, and, based on the last E3, not all of them are going to be fan favorites.Im think you guys wont see K. Rool till the game is released at the end of summer, I foresee him to be an unlockable character.
If k Rool was coming to e3 I personally think he would have been built up already (I think Ridley will be the star if e3) I honestly think mewtwo and king k Rool will b unblockables not announced till the game is out. This, too, is possible. There's a chance he gets shown at E3, but people oughtn't be worried if he's not there. I would expect a fan favorite(Ridley or K.Rool) as well as one surprise. I think a retro rep will not be shown at E3.This, too, is possible. Goriath from Return to Dreamland? You know, I can't think of a single reptilian Kirby boss. It's just another sign of how unique K. Rool is for this game, being the sole remaining heavyweight and villain who has any good chance to be a newcomer. If there isn't one of those I'd be very surprised as it's the most obvious archetype to include. I also hardly think Bowser and Dedede cover everything in the archetype. That is one of the only remaining (stupid) arguments Sakurai could level against K. Rool - "why include a comical, heavyweight villain when the perfect Dedede did everything?" It is as bad as the "Bowser clone" "argument," though, so not worried.
Yeah, that's who I mean.@ Yomi's Biggest Fan I don't follow - you mean Goriath, the gorilla?
Wait, did someone seriously try to argue that K. Rool can't get in because he's too ugly? And I though the relevance argument was idiotic.I know this was some time ago, but I just want to discuss the supposed "issue" with K. Rool ugliness and more about how it doesn't really make any sense.
ALL of the major DK characters are ugly. DK is ugly, Diddy is ugly, K. Rool's Cranky is ugly and Dixie too (though she is more Ugly Cute). All of these characters are animals, so it makes perfect sense for them to be ugly.
If I recall correctly, it was more an argument for why K. Rool "sucked".Wait, did someone seriously try to argue that K. Rool can't get in because he's too ugly? And I though the relevance argument was idiotic.
As a Plasm Wraith supporter, I take offense to that.backwater support threads for that one character that was in that one game that one time who totally should be in Smash
That's still the absolute dumbest argument I've ever heard. Though as a huge fan of Wario, I hear that all too often. If I recall correctly, it was more an argument for why K. Rool "sucked".
Good, I feel like I've failed if I post something that doesn't offend someone. As a Plasm Wraith supporter, I take offense to that.
It's the closest boss battle that Sakurai would incorporate into him, especially with the fight's pattern.@ Yomi's Biggest Fan That's not a reptile, though. I'm not sure how Goriath's relevant to K. Rool.
I'll describe it as this: we would walk towards the wall to shoot at foed with the Blunderbuss (sometimes while clinging to the walls) and stomp on the bridges to break them. Part 2 would involve him shooting a storm of cannonballs towards the ground. So basically all 3 DKC fights in one frenzied fight. Either way, I wouldn't want him as a boss.@ Yomi's Biggest Fan You think so? All I remember of the fight is that it aped DragonBall Z, Goriath going super saiyan and shooting a kamehameha wave. I can't remember anything resembling K. Rool, sorry. I haven't played RtDL since I finished it years ago.
Don't worry; I usually try to let someone have the last word when I know a conversation's starting to go that direction.I can see this going bad.
Let's be careful to not get into some unnecessary arguments here. I'd rather avoid a ton of drama if possible, we already have more than enough of that.
Unlike Dyna Ridley, at least that would still be true to the character. I'm not really knowledgeable enough on Kirby series bosses though to know what Sakurai would make K. Rool a blatant knockoff of if he were to do so, which is probably a good sign.If K. Rool does indeed end up as a boss, he'll most likely have his attack pattern from DKC1 (Crown, cannonballs, charging, jumps etc.) and his defeat could cause the kredits to appear, and possibly carry people off the screen. Here's hoping that's not the case.
