Great video, as always, @ BKupa666 BKupa666 .

I'm more optimistic for K. Rool now, if only slightly. The only two things holding him back were competition from Dixie and the chance of Nintendo wanting to obliterate the Kremlings from existence. Now Kritters are confirmed to show up along with Tikis, and most DK content seemingly comes from Returns instead of Tropical Freeze, we can assume Dixie is less likely, too.

How does it feel knowing we have every iteration of DK enemy design in Smash 3DS?

There's the Klaptrap in Jungle Japes with Rare's old design, The Paon Kremlings and Retro's Tikis.

Well, guys, I was conflicted about showing you all this for a little while. I wanted to wait until K. Rool appeared either in Smash or in a new DKC title first, but I figure now is as good a time as any. Everyone is in high spirits in the wake of the Kritters' confirmation, and after what happened to Ridley, I have no idea whether this will be the last time the mood is this great.

But there's every reason for our spirits to be this high; the Kremlings are officially alive and well again, and whether or not their leader becomes playable, it's only a matter of time before they regain prominence within the DKC franchise again. I toyed with the idea of making a K. Rool video to this very fitting song a while back, and over my winter break, followed through with it. I hope you enjoy my video tribute to K. Rool.

Long live the King!
Thanks BKupa. What I needed today was definitely some smiles and laughs.
With Ridley (more likely than not) done for, K. Rool's moved up to my most wanted character.
While it still stings, K. Rool is still a kool guy! I hope our confidence turns out to well founded!

Long live the King!
Show them good guys what for!

I was too distracted from seeing the Kremlings first time watching, but then when I watched it again I realized how overjoyed I was to see them alongside the Tikis and whatnot. One of the best moments ever of each generation of a franchise coming together as one. For the adventure mode or whatever, that's a real treat in itself whether we end up getting K. Rool or not.

Out of all of the enemies to appear, the Kremlings gave me the most nostalgia for one of Nintendo's all-time hits. Lots of emotional memories there.

Oh, and I'm glad at least ONE character support became more hopeful after today.

Indeed. As all of the other support groups dwindle and die with the sudden and brutal intensity of unexpected train crashes, K. Rool lives on. Nothing can detract from his prodigious girth. K. Rool is love, K. Rool is life.

Hey, BKupa!!

Sync him up with "Let It Go" from Frozen for when he's confirmed! :yeahboi:

Ah, this is hilarious. I was listening to Let it Go, it froze, and then I played this. And of course, Idina unfroze and it trumped Scar.

Honestly with the Kremlings or Kritters w/e there names were(I forget lol) being shown I think K. Rool's chances might actually be higher.

If only they actually announced him.
Shame that we are as a community focusing less on all the gameplay changes, good news for the franchise, because the delivery of such tragic news was presented blunt and in such amounts, nearly anyone with hope for one thing or another found resentments.

I'd have to agree. My experience has been the same as that described. I am exceptionally disappointed with solo Charizard and Greninja, but overall, the gameplay changes seen have really made me happy, and I'm probably more excited than ever for the game.

Congrats on seeing the Kremlings back guys. Seems like Sakurai cares more for getting them in than the rest of Nintendo does. Here's hoping for K. Rool.

Isn't K. Rool's Finest Hour already a watered-down Be Prepared?

Kremlings being back is such awesome news! It seems almost a dream come true... Kremlings and Tikis amongst each other. Really, I wish Retro had done this. It just looks so right! I will have a lot of fun with this 1 Player Mode! Wether or not King K.Rool makes it in or not, all that matters to me mostly is that Kremlings will be back in the main games. And with all the rock formation stuff, and Retro taking so much from Diddy's character in Smash to DKCR I feel it's almost inevitable we'll see K.Rool and the Kremling Army back!

At this point, am not even so concerned about him being playable or not. Cause if he's not in this time, he'll MOST LIKELY will be in the next Smash. And with all these light weight newcomers so far, we're overdue for something bigger and badder. :smirk: Greninja, Rosalina, Wii Fit Trainer, Villager, even Little Mac... All seem like characters who will be lighter than average (Mario). I think for balance reasons, K.Rool would be awesome.

He's then only one am doubtful about. MegaMan seems logical to be heavier than Mario. I'd estimate him about as heavy as Link. However, since he is so projectile based he might get some nerfs on weight because of that.

Either way, a heavy weight newcomer is still absent. And I fell K.Rool stands as the best possiblity for that spot.

Also this thread's current title is awesome!

Yeah seriously, no villains or heavyweights so far. This is a gaping hole in the newcomer roster for K. Rool to fill.

Far too many characters from recent titles to. K.Rool would bring some nice nostalgia for many with his inclusion.

Actually I find the video being shown now more fitting then if you waited until we knew K. Rool was in. Like the song says, we are being prepared for the arrival of our king.

The Kremlings are back! I'm so happy to see them returned, I was actually worried they might be gone for good. It's like a lesser reaction to how I felt about Mega Man's inclusion.

And this is good for the King as well. Sakurai has squashed the recency logic once and for all (at least with recurring characters franchise), so it's great to know that we won't see character excluded based on faulty logic that only measured when the character appeared. The fact that Sakurai recognizes the Kremlings is a good sign for K. Rool. I've said this before, but King K. Rool is one of these characters who has all the cards laid down for him and really has no good reasons to not be in (although that's not saying too much with what happened to Ridley, but Sakurai was biased against him, so...).

There's only really two things to worry about at this point; will we get more than fourteen newcomer (Gematsu's leak + Rosalina, Mewtwo, and retro character) and if we get a DK newcomer, who exactly will he go with? We can't say with certainty on either questions, but I feel pretty good about the Kremling King myself. When looking at his résume (most wanted Nintendo newcomer, third most important character in DK franchise, etc.) and his relative lack of potential issues, I'd say he's a cut above the characters that aren't part of the Getmatsu's leak/Mewtwo/Rosalina/retro character.
Ridley is practically disconfirmed. Same goes for Squirtle and Ivysaur, and with Greninja in as well, I'm betting it's either Mewtwo or Jiggs at this point.

Newcomer-wise: The best part of the Direct is that the Kremlings are back as enemies. K. Rool is almost certainly in at this point. In term of chance, I think he's currently the most likely newcomer, along with Palutena.

But seeing what happened to Ridley and all, I'd rather NOT see a Gangplank Galleon stage at this point...
Ridley, yes, but Squirtle and Ivysaur? They could be removed (and I'm kind of expecting it), but I wouldn't say it's near inevitable. I also am betting on Mewtwo and Jigglypuff coming back; no way would Sakurai cut them. But this is for the general character discussion thread.

Mewtwo and Jigglypuff can both get in if Squirtle and Ivysaur are gone anyway. Am betting they are though.

Going to retread the discussion from a few pages back and say that I too never really had a thing against the Tikis. They're much blander than Kremlings, sure, but I can entertain the concept of living wood idol/instrument hybrids. It's a pretty interesting concept, if executed in a mediocre fashion. Tiki Tong is a clone of a bunch of previous Nintendo "big hands" enemies, but Frederick is a K. Rool clone, so the latter isn't any more creative in execution.

I would not mind seeing the tikis return in the DK series in the future, and in fact, I'd encourage them appearing alongside the Kremlings, as in Smash Run. The same goes for the Snomads. The richer the villain roster, the better.

Unrelated, but @ FalKoopa FalKoopa , I love Ivysaur and Squirtle in your sig now.

I've gotta say, if all characters will be known by summer, how many more is it we are likel to learn about pre game, and how many will be in the next few months?

Now that every single one of my hopes besides King K. Rool has been crushed, it's time for me to throw in full support.

Kremlings give me hope, though we may not get Ridley or any of the other characters I wanted, my most wanted is still in the running. Long live the Kremling King!

As of now, King K. Rool's only competition is:

Dixie Kong: If the DK series only gets 3 roster spots.

Tiki person: Very unlikely and would be more of an Assist Trophy.

Tropical Freeze's Final villain: Probable, but the Kremlings placement in Smash Run has increased King K. Rool's chances of getting in.

As of now, King K. Rool's chances are 65%, going up against Dixie, his chances are near slim.

This is definitely an interesting development in K. Rool's favor, I never expected to see the Kremlings at all, and unlike many enemies in the Smash Run they weren't recycled from Subspace or the like so that means there was a direct decision to include them.

Of course it still doesn't guranatee anything but it's more then we've had in a long time.

The presence of Kremlings in Smash Run vindicates every K. Rool fan who spent the last few years talking about how, in spite of two games of absence, he and his minions still constitute a large and important enough portion of DK's history to warrant Smash representation. That was largely brushed aside in favor of "relevance," "advertising," and all that, but this is our proof staring us in the face that we're getting more than just what's flashy and new. K. Rool too will be present somehow, it's just a matter of hoping that it's as a character, nothing more or less.

True, Charizard has been in the smash bros. games for a while now but this is my first time seeing him as a playable character so he could be new in that sense. Unfortunately I haven't played brawl, was he playable in that one too?

He was one of Pokemon Trainer's Pokemon, so technically he's a veteran. The site calls him one as well.
