K. Rool's Kremling Kutthroats: PM BKupa666 for an Invite to the New K. Rool Thread

King K. Rool is my third most wanted newcomer, but he definitely deserves to become playable. Highly requested and he has a good moveset potential. I FINALLY beat DKC 2(yeah, it took a bit) and the Final Boss Theme was great! Anyway, I supported K. Rool in Brawl and I support him for the upcoming title.

I could never really master DKC2... I beat the final boss but that's about all I could take! But yeah that theme is rad. If it made an appearance in any Smash game (like not just specifically 4 maybe later if need be) I'd be down with that.

And the rest is history. He's my ONLY wanted newcomer. Much like the music if not now I hope someday he gets in Smash. Preferably sooner rather than later --I'm being as realistic as I can. As soon as I get my hopes up is when the bad stuff happens-- trying to stay in "Hope"-mode for now. (And "Pray" mode... )

But yeah. I can wait forever. He means that much to me. Hopefully I won't need to.
That's why community is important in a sense. Make some noise!

Off that particular subject I finished part of the K. Rool drawing I alluded to in my earlier post. I'm gonna update it as I add to it (I've only got a few ideas about K. Rool but it's enough and vivid enough to make me visualize him quite plainly.)
Yeah, seems me and Kupa (or whoever came up with the moveset on the OP) had the same idea for the F-Smash. Great minds, eh? ;D

I don't think a pelvic thrust would fly. Have him turn his body the other way, stretching for the charge, then swing his gut over from the side.

A pelvic thrust wouldn't look good, but I can imagine generic heavyweight moves like a butt stomp or body slam. For the aerials, I imagine the neutral aerial would end up being similar to Dedede's, although hopefully not also useless. The more generic moves are the only place where comparisons to other Brawl heavyweights are at all valid.

For K. Rool's more generic moves (which I hope he doesn't have, but realistically will) he could make more use of his jaws. He is a crocodile after all. It would also separate him from another heavy reptile like Bowser, who mainly uses his claws and spikes.

Not to be a glummy gus, but if the Pauletena leak is real (a big if I realize), doesn't that hurt both K. Rools and Ridley's chances? After all, if you can leak one character, but only one (ya know in order to not be too suspicious and crap), wouldn't you pick the one that is most liable to create the largest reaction? Maybe said anonymous person doesn't follow the Smash fandom enough to have any idea who that would be, but if that is the case, if they aren't even going to research who would create the biggest impact first, why leak? And if they did know that and they chose Pauletena, and if the leak is real, then no one more hype worthy then Pauletena is in, unless they didn't have access to all of the characters. That last bit leaves us believers of the leak a shred of hope for these two, but it still looks grim.

I...quite frankly have no idea why that affects Ridley or K. Rool in the slightest. Maybe Palutena was his favorite character? Maybe he was assigned Palutena to playtest? Maybe she's just the character who happened to be on the screen during his opportunity to take a quick two pics? There are many alternatives to the theory you're proposing. Best not to get too caught up in it.

Which one? The 3DS images? I shouldn't think so... As far as character selection goes I think we might be reaching the end of the line so I think K. Rool (and Ridley for that matter... I guess?) have got as good a chance as any. Say we get 10 or 12 newcomers or even more than that I think 4 games in considering all we've seen so far I think we're OK. We got a shot.

I'd suggest looking into the Palutena one. We honestly can't disprove it at all. Something very rare for a picture leak.

Because, tell yourself that you'll look for them once X months are left as you may, there's never going to come a point where you stop having the knee-jerk reaction of screaming "FALSE!" Better to just catalog whatever comes up now, then reference them as time passes. The Palutena leak is almost certainly real, though; it's probably the only image leak in Smash history that hasn't been killed within the day, let alone the nearly two months it's existed.

What's your opinion on leaks? Do you entertain them at all? I don't take them that seriously myself. Not anymore. It's speculation and that's fun in it's own merit...
I like lurking in GAF during these times to see what's cooking and even if whatever's being discussed is legit BS it's still entertaining to watch! It can be almost exciting.

Would hardly call that leak K. Rool's biggest roadblock towards getting in. Maybe it's personal bias, but I don't think he has literally anything against him. He along with Ridley is arguably the most famous character that's not playable as of yet. Then there's his absolutely ridiculous popularity, which all of us are living proof of. Finally, he's got tons of moves to choose from. And if as a king he's still not considered 'unique' enough, he could be a stance change character with his various alter egos changing his special moves. There is no reason for him not to be playable.

If by some k. rool joke (har har) we don't get him, I'll be devastated, but more than that, I'll be confused.

Depends on the stage. If it's on a Gangplank Galleon stage then I'd imagine it'd be less techno-y. If it's a Flying Kroc stage, then it'd probably be similar to that.

Unless it was cartoon-y as heck and wasn't sexualized (or made to look like any sort of "mineral depositing") at all, which is hard to do since it's a pelvic thrust.

If you can do that, it could make a tilt or a running attack.

It's in the game, I think it's in World 4-1. I'm certain I passed by it now that the image refreshed my memory, but later I could go on through the level again to make sure.

That's two direct K.Rool references in the game... I heard that Lord Frederick also shares quite a bit of similarities to K.Rool right? Really, I am thinking now that Retro is really willing to use the Kremlings, but was wanting to do something 'completely' different with Tropical Freeze to see how the public would react to that first.

These awesome references are making me very excited for E3 now, seems that Retro / Nintendo have some love left for K. Rool. If they do, that's all I think we need for K. Rool to get in at this point, considering the majorly positive consensus of fans in favour of his inclusion.

For the uninitiated, "fresh" is a DKVine inside joke in reference to an interview with two Jungle Beat developers, in which one of the developers went full-on arsehole and called every non-DK DK character "not fresh enough for today's gamers," and the reason why the team only brought back Donkey Kong and "The Banana" as characters. 'Tis partly why its users never expected Diddy to reappear in a main DK game again, and why him being in Brawl was such a big deal.

Retro studios have proven to me/us? that They are uncapable at creating a original villain that has personality and staying power , yet I think they will continue trying unless Nintendo forcess their hand to add K.rool in the game.
And the only way I see that happening is for Nintendo to se how popular he would be if he joins smash.

I'm hopefully optimistic for K. Rool being in the third Retro DKC, regardless of Smash. One of Tanabe's quotes from around E3 stands out in stark contrast to the "Does he really need to come back? *laughs" quotes from after Returns' reveal. Tanabe responds when asked about the Kremlings (side note: people are still asking about them to the developers' faces!), claiming that "There aren't any crocodiles this time."

As petty as it sounds, I might. I've given Sakurai a lot of leeway when it comes to his more questionable decisions, but to outright pass over a character who has more than earned his place would be absolutely infuriating, especially given how someone like WFT (who I have nothing against I might add) was added because 'lol no one would guess that'.

Yeah, I can understand throwing in a character nobody would have guessed for the heck of it (in fact I look forward to trying out WFT), but to blatantly ignore one of the most requested characters at the same time would be absolutely criminal. The same can be said for Ridley's case as well.

Yeah I agree that wtf should never have been added to the roster ( who I have pretty much everything against I might add) She goes pretty much against the main consept of smash which is play as you're fav charecters, nobody wanted her pre E3 , she dosen't even have retro appeal like mr g&w and r.o.b had

I won't mind WFT as long as they add some of the most requested characters.

If we end up having Mii, Villager, Wii Fit Trainer and so on without any of the fan favorites that will be frustrating, and it's possible Sakurai may go in that direction. Little Mac was a sign he does listen to fans though, especially on the international level.
