Well, what with all the talk of "Scales and tails", I'd say I prefer K. Rool's DKC/DK64 Tail and scale design. It just looks more... Reptilian.

AncientTobacco, you're on the list now. I've been updating the OP in multi-page intervals for a while, but over break, I have a bit more leeway to update it on a Kutthroat-by-Kutthroat basis.

I was just thinking... What if K. Rool's neutral side was his blunderbuss, but instead of shooting a Kannonball, it would do the whole vacuum thing where K. Rool slides across the stage?

I know somebody probably already thought this up, but just sayin'.

From a theoretical standpoint, I think the K. Rool sprite in that banner is more or less the size he should be in-Smash. Maybe a slight bit smaller or more hunched over, but it's a good base off of which to start.

Not too bad an idea, just a little unusual when he has a built-in helicopter pack recovery to start with.

I brought this up in the Ridley thread, but I'm still curious; during a K. Rool reveal trailer, would he get a new Gangplank Galleon remix as music or the one from Brawl? Or perhaps something else, like Crocodile Cacophony?

All I know is that he'd have one of his themes playing, and that, right after his "K. ROOL SETS SAIL" or whatever banner, the camera would zoom in on his bloodshot eye, like it did with the eyes of Villager and Rosalina. That aspect of the currently revealed newcomer trailers has K. Rool written all over it.

I think a Gangplank Galleon remix is most likely, as I feel that Sakurai associates that tune with the character more than any other. However, I think Crocodile Cacophony would fit the dynamic presentation of a reveal trailer more. I'd like to see either, honestly. They're two of my favorite tracks from the Country trilogy.

I would be very happy if the music was playing at the start of the trailer and K. Rool's screen came up when the music started getting more intense.

Good question. Gangplank could work for the main song, but the intro needs a short tune. For example, Mega Man had the Enter Stage theme and Rosalina had the Galaxy title screen theme.

Gangplank Galleon is his most recognizable theme and would fit best considering it's going to be his King variant, not Kaptain. (If he's even in the game, that is)

What music is initially in his trailer depends on how the trailer begins. If it's just DK and Diddy messing around in the jungle and getting ambushed, you can probably expect to hear Remix 3827 of DK Island Swing, whereas, if it's like the Rosalina trailer and you have some unrelated character passing by, it could be, say, The Great Sea music playing while Toon Link sails along and happens upon the Gangplank Galleon.

I'm so onboard the K. Rool train. He's one of my most wanted newcomers! One of the best bosses from any series - he actually has a personality! Sign me up.

Imagine an E3 2014 trailer showing a few more veterans and at the end of the trailer, the DK64 King K.Rool theme starting slowly. Suddenly you hear K.Rool laughing while you only see a blackscreen. Then, the challenger approaching shows up and K.Rool with the second part of the Gangplank Galleon theme shows what he's made of shooting Bowser out of the stage, knocking DK out and scenes like this. Wouldn't that be an epic appearance of the king himself?

And suddenly the ultimate Sakurai troll move came to me. He could post a picture of a trophy of a highly requested character, but not elaborate on it in the description.

I can see it now.
We see a pic of King K. Rool, but he doesn't have a page on the website.
On Miiverse, Sakurai just bluntly says, "Pic of the Day. King K. Rool."
Everyone on Smashboards would explode wondering what the heck is going on and debating if he is disconfirmed (most would say yes). Also, he just shows that one pic of him and no future pics show him.
Then when the game releases, he's playable.

It would be chaos... sweet, beautiful chaos. I really hope he never does anything like that, I wouldn't be able to handle it.

Imagine a picture with K. Rool, Ridley, and Mewtwo trophies. The description would say "One is playable, one is a boss, one is an assist trophy".
