Well, that narrows it down some, considering Mewtwo would never be an Assist Trophy.

Now that would be the biggest tease of them all. One can easily reduce Mewtwo as a playable character as Mewtwo would be a Poke Ball Pokemon and it really isn't boss material. So, that leaves King K. Rool or Ridley as being a boss or an Assist Trophy.

Sakurai goes to an interview and says, "I am finally going to put Goku in Smash."
Everyone on Miiverse raves while we are just utterly disappointed and disgusted.
Then Sakurai posts a pic of Goku on Miiverse… but it's not the Goku we were thinking of. Instead, it's this Goku:

And then I would be laughing my head off looking at all of those disappointed kids who were expecting Goku.
Of course, YouTube would explode with all of those reaction videos like Mega Man had.

Some one on IGN actually suggested a similar case scenario. If this happens though, Miiverse will be empty. Then what would we laugh at except for GameFAQs?

The internet would only explode if Mewtwo was a Pokeball summon. Or hell, if he was given any role less than playable. Like a nuke went off an a fireworks factory. Ridley and K.Rool being made assists or bosses will definitely be notable. But neither would match Mewtwo/Pokemon's fan reactions.

So, the AT can only be Ridley or K. Rool.
The boss could be any of the three.
The playable character could be any of the three.

Since Mewtwo was playable before, it would have to be him.
Leaving Ridley and K. Rool between a boss and an Assist.
Ridley was a boss before.
So, under the circumstances in that hypothetical description:
Playable = Mewtwo
Boss = Ridley
Assist Trophy = K. Rool

Or all logic is thrown out the window and Mewtwo's the AT, K. Rool's the boss, and Ridley's the playable one.

I never expected that post to get so dissected lol, I just took 3 high profile potential candidates and three roles to illustrate how explosive it wouldbe. The better selection would have been Porky. All three of those could potentially be any of those roles.

K. Rool would be ridiculously limited as an Assist Trophy or a boss, and also probably unusually large compared to the other heavyweights if Brawl's bosses are any indication of what we can expect now. For that reason, among others, I cringe a bit whenever I see "K. Rool's personas are bosses in DK's adventure mode!" tidbit in a false leak.

That being said, Golden's answer to the "Assist Trophy, Boss, Playable" question is probably the correct one.

No kidding on the boss issue. Smash bosses always end up pretty big. I cringe at the thought of seeing a shrunken Bowser fighting a King K. Rool ten times his size.

What music is initially in his trailer depends on how the trailer begins. If it's just DK and Diddy messing around in the jungle and getting ambushed, you can probably expect to hear Remix 3827 of DK Island Swing, whereas, if it's like the Rosalina trailer and you have some unrelated character passing by, it could be, say, The Great Sea music playing while Toon Link sails along and happens upon the Gangplank Galleon.

BKupa, having Toon Link get attacked by that 'ole pirate K. Rool would cause me a serious fangasm of the highest order.

Thus, it cannot happen.

I think a Gangplank Galleon remix is most likely, as I feel that Sakurai associates that tune with the character more than any other. However, I think Crocodile Cacophony would fit the dynamic presentation of a reveal trailer more. I'd like to see either, honestly. They're two of my favorite tracks from the Country trilogy.

Both are likely to happen at the same time, although one might just get very condensed.

Probably Crocodile Cacophony... or the song you suggested (K. Rool's DK64 theme) later on Bridges (this one).

Personally, I would want a Crocodile Cacophony remix to open up the trailer with a intro, a Gangplank Galleon remix to be the beef of the trailer, and the ending to be K. Rool's theme from DK64.

Mega Man got freaking the Mega Man 2 opening theme and Dr. Wily Castle 1 (also from Mega Man 2), as well as the "Robot Master theme" from Mega Man 2 (all remixes), as well as a OST port of the Mega Man 4 "Power Up Music".

Rosalina got the Mario Galaxy opening theme and the Gusty Gardens theme.

Wii Fit Trainer... got... "weird" songs.

There was actually a lot of speculation pre-Brawl that the cannonball that fires Mario away right before Petey Piranha was K. Rool who blasted him away, or at least his ammunition. I still have no idea where that cannonball came from honestly.

But yeah, K. Rool in SSE would have been great.

I'm kinda glad I wasn't around for pre-brawl speculation, there seems to be a lot of scars.

It felt like the crossover that I dreamed SSE would be.

Villains going to other worlds to fight heroes they usually didn't fight.

Bowser fighting DK and Diddy was cool. Lucas, Ness and Pokemon Trainer against Wario was good too.

I wanted more of that.

See, the crossover scenario (which I agree were usually good or fine for the most part) with Bowser having K. Rool's role would've been alright with everyone if the other reptile king had been somewhere doing the same thing with some other villain's role, but because he wasn't, the mentioned Bowser part just felt like a sad reminder of how K. Rool/Kremlings have been treated since post-Rare; expendable & replaceable.

I'm willing to bet I was as wounded as anyone else when the final roster was revealed but I wasn't a part of a community building up hype for the game's release. I'll probably be around for all the future releases though.

Granted, some of those were vocal pockets of individuals, while others were a lot more sound in their predictions, but man, even the worst times we've had thus far this game pale in comparison to how bad it got back then.

Even just this morning, I drop by GameFAQs and see users talking about how "Sakurai said Ridley is too big," which is just another reminder that, so long as it sounds believable, "Sakurai said..." statements can be slipped seamlessly into discussions without their legitimacy being called into question.

In terms of the SSE, while, without it taking allegedly 60% of Brawl's development, there might have been enough time for K. Rool himself to be added, it references him about as much as it can without outright including him in the story. It definitely doesn't forget him, considering Bowser's reveal is basically an homage to K. Rool's banana thievery, while his music plays in the section of the Lake stage before the dark Bowser is fought.
