Oh god...Imagine a picture with K. Rool, Ridley, and Mewtwo trophies. The description would say "One is playable, one is a boss, one is an assist trophy".
It'd be like dropping a nuke on Smashboards.

Well, that narrows it down some, considering Mewtwo would never be an Assist Trophy.Imagine a picture with K. Rool, Ridley, and Mewtwo trophies. The description would say "One is playable, one is a boss, one is an assist trophy".
Now that would be the biggest tease of them all. One can easily reduce Mewtwo as a playable character as Mewtwo would be a Poke Ball Pokemon and it really isn't boss material. So, that leaves King K. Rool or Ridley as being a boss or an Assist Trophy.Imagine a picture with K. Rool, Ridley, and Mewtwo trophies. The description would say "One is playable, one is a boss, one is an assist trophy".
Forget Smashboards. This would drop a nuke on the Internet. I can imagine the negative feedback Sakurai would receive if he announced King K. Rool and Ridley as being a boss or an Assist Trophy.Oh god...

I'm gonna have a hard time sleeping tonight just thinking about it.Forget Smashboards. This would drop a nuke on the Internet. I can imagine the negative feedback Sakurai would receive if he announced King K. Rool and Ridley as being a boss or an Assist Trophy.
I want this scenario to play out:You god, you're right. Still, Smashboards would probably be hit hardest. Miiverse wouldn't give a crap though. They're too busy with Goku.
Same. I wouldn't even want to go to sleep if I saw that happening.I'm gonna have a hard time sleeping tonight just thinking about it.
Some one on IGN actually suggested a similar case scenario. If this happens though, Miiverse will be empty. Then what would we laugh atI want this scenario to play out:
Sakurai goes to an interview and says, "I am finally going to put Goku in Smash."
Everyone on Miiverse raves while we are just utterly disappointed and disgusted.
Then Sakurai posts a pic of Goku on Miiverse… but it's not the Goku we were thinking of. Instead, it's this Goku:
And then I would be laughing my head off looking at all of those disappointed kids who were expecting Goku.
Of course, YouTube would explode with all of those reaction videos like Mega Man had.
Same. I wouldn't even want to go to sleep if I saw that happening.
As said before, it's narrowed down going by Mewtwo being unable to be an AT.Imagine a picture with K. Rool, Ridley, and Mewtwo trophies. The description would say "One is playable, one is a boss, one is an assist trophy".
I never expected that post to get so dissected lol, I just took 3 high profile potential candidates and three roles to illustrate how explosive it wouldbe. The better selection would have been Porky. All three of those could potentially be any of those roles.As said before, it's narrowed down going by Mewtwo being unable to be an AT.
So, the AT can only be Ridley or K. Rool.
The boss could be any of the three.
The playable character could be any of the three.
Since Mewtwo was playable before, it would have to be him.
Leaving Ridley and K. Rool between a boss and an Assist.
Ridley was a boss before.
So, under the circumstances in that hypothetical description:
Playable = Mewtwo
Boss = Ridley
Assist Trophy = K. Rool
Or all logic is thrown out the window and Mewtwo's the AT, K. Rool's the boss, and Ridley's the playable one.

BKupa, having Toon Link get attacked by that 'ole pirate K. Rool would cause me a serious fangasm of the highest order.What music is initially in his trailer depends on how the trailer begins. If it's just DK and Diddy messing around in the jungle and getting ambushed, you can probably expect to hear Remix 3827 of DK Island Swing, whereas, if it's like the Rosalina trailer and you have some unrelated character passing by, it could be, say, The Great Sea music playing while Toon Link sails along and happens upon the Gangplank Galleon.
Both are likely to happen at the same time, although one might just get very condensed.I think a Gangplank Galleon remix is most likely, as I feel that Sakurai associates that tune with the character more than any other. However, I think Crocodile Cacophony would fit the dynamic presentation of a reveal trailer more. I'd like to see either, honestly. They're two of my favorite tracks from the Country trilogy.
I hope it's not his modern voice. Something close to DK64 or the Countries would be much better.I'm eagerly awaiting what Bowser and DK sound like in-game, because that'll give us an idea of what K. Rool could have as well: his modern voice or an original one.
Totally! I felt the same. Glad I wasn't alone. I know Bowser was already in the game and everything, but still. XPWhen i was playing through SSE in brawl, i thought FOR SURE we would see K. Rool as the banana thief. When it was only Bowser, i couldn't help but feel like it was a missed opportunity. Let's hope we see the king this time around.
There was actually a lot of speculation pre-Brawl that the cannonball that fires Mario away right before Petey Piranha was K. Rool who blasted him away, or at least his ammunition. I still have no idea where that cannonball came from honestly.When i was playing through SSE in brawl, i thought FOR SURE we would see K. Rool as the banana thief. I now again remember the dissapointment...There was actually a lot of speculation pre-Brawl that the cannonball that fires Mario away right before Petey Piranha was K. Rool who blasted him away, or at least his ammunition. I still have no idea where that cannonball came from honestly.
But yeah, K. Rool in SSE would have been great.
Whoops my badNot sure whether I was more disappointed by the lack of K. Rool in SSE or the lack of , but the thing with Bowser being the banana thief instead of K. Rool really was bull**** and wish I hadn't been reminded of it.
No, you're fine. My reaction was just a reflex.Whoops my bad
I'm willing to bet I was as wounded as anyone else when the final roster was revealed but I wasn't a part of a community building up hype for the game's release. I'll probably be around for all the future releases though.@ Welshy91 You're probably luckier than you realize as far as that.
It's funny how some of the same "Sakurai said..." myths carry over to the next games. Fabricated comments about the "more females" thing, roster size, and cuts-related or clones-related things seem to get passed down like an infection.Pre-Brawl was a pretty unrefined time period for speculators. Lots of unsubstantiated crap going around about "Sakurai said there would be no clones!" or "Sakurai said he wanted many more females!" or "Sakurai said the roster would be at least 50 characters!" Not to mention the treatment of characters like Geno and Krystal as absolute shoo-ins while decrying characters like Diddy and Dedede for stupid reasons all the way up until their reveals. Granted, some of those were vocal pockets of individuals, while others were a lot more sound in their predictions, but man, even the worst times we've had thus far this game pale in comparison to how bad it got back then.
No kidding. Even just this morning, I drop by GameFAQs and see users talking about how "Sakurai said Ridley is too big," which is just another reminder that, so long as it sounds believable, "Sakurai said..." statements can be slipped seamlessly into discussions without their legitimacy being called into question.It's funny how some of the same "Sakurai said..." myths carry over to the next games.
