As much as I would love the blunderbuss dash to appear as K. Rool's dash attack, I can't trust that Sakurai will even consider that if he can't even think to implement something as obvious as DK's roll.

I thought K. Rool's little dash/sliding thing in DKC2 was cooler.

I feel like the best possible way to represent K. Rool is to inkorporate his 4 most notable villain roles into his specials.

B: Blunderbuss (DKC2)
Side B: Krown Boomerang (DKC)
Up B: HeliKopter Pack (DKC3)
Down B: Krusha Krush (DK64)

Then again, that's just me.

I could see the dash incorporated into a side special. Tapping the input would cause K. Rool to shoot cannonballs from his blunderbuss, but smashing it would initiate the blunderbuss dash, which could be used in the air to offer some form of horizontal recovery, with the helicopter pack being more vertical, perhaps.

No, that seems pretty good to me too. A nice simple way to show off an attack that each boss fight can do. His Blunderbuss dash can well, be his dash attack. So what about Final Smashes? Maybe he rains cannonballs from the sky like in his original boss fight. Seems like a good option.

It's nice to see that King K.Rool is still the more supported character from the DK series while Dixie stays on the second place. I really hope Sakurai won't ignore that and give us King K.Rool.

It's good how little has changed indeed since Dixie's reveal in Tropical Freeze. People still seem to massively want K.Rool. Not just in Smash, but in DKCR to.

I think I've said it already once, but I like to repeat myself at this point^^

I don't want K.Rool in DKC: Tropical Freeze. I want a DKC-retrostudios-triology where in the 3rd game K.Rool is THE ennemy. Maybe Retrostudios could put the focus on linking DKCR and DKC:Tropical Freeze with DKC6 and after all show how K.Rool tried to use Vikings and Tikis to steal the bananas from the Kongs. In that case he would be the mastermind behind the 3 Retrostudios DKC games while only appearing in the 3rd Retrostudios DKC game. I like this idea and I think this would be great to give K.Rool again his role as the main ennemy of Donkey Kong & the other Kongs.

I haven't posted here yet? Well, lets change that now!
My most supported character for Sm4sh is still Banjo-Kazooie, but K. Rool is definitely the character that actually has a decent chance I support the most.
OP, add me to that supporter list, if you can.

Now that you mention this, I just noticed I'm not in the supporter list neither. I would also like to join the other supporters in the list as I see King K.Rool having good chances and a good moveset potential. Therefore I'm totally excited to see King K.Rool in SSB4^^

It's a false narrative that, if a character appears in a new game, more people will want them in Smash. Like, "Toad is a filler character in yet another NSMB game??? His popularity will surely skyrocket!!!" And then...it kind of doesn't. I'd argue the same for Dixie, in that places like GameFAQs might expect her more, but her level of fan support has remained roughly the same. Hell, it's probably the same for most characters, with very few exceptions...Little Mac and Palutena being among them.

The letter dropped from the sky. Donkey and Diddy had left already, leaving Dixie all alone. And now the King was on her doorstep - literally - having heard of the invitation and wishing to steal it for himself - because, as all well knew, only the contents of the letter would provide the means to ascend to this mysterious world that rumors abounded of. Dixie wished to travel alongside Donkey and Diddy once more, perhaps kick their butts in glorious style for abandoning her, while K. Rool wanted what all the mischievously evil tyrants wanted: to rule this new world. Just as well, he wished to gain for himself power so that he may finally defeat that dastardly Donkey Kong and his annoying side-kick. And he would start here, with their young female companion. With a shot of his blunderbass, he shot his way through the door, rushing his way - in typical slow K. Rool fashion - to Dixie, whereupon he attempted to grab the letter, which was as of yet unopened. Dixie was no slouch, however, and she quickly dodged, picking up her gumball cannon and pelting the King with colorful candy bullets.

The king was expecting this, however, and he was prepared. And besides, he was a Krocodile, she couldn't do any damage to hi- OWW! Dixie had landed a direct hit! She attempted to flee, only for K. Rool to recuperate quickly enough to catch her by her leg, dropping the letter in the process. She fought back, slapping his face with her hair before trying to fly away with her helicopter-like hair abilities, but he had blocked the entrance he made. She flew in the other direction, ready to make her escape out the window, only to realize that she didn't have the letter with her! She turned back, saw K. Rool pick it up and ready to open it, and in a frenzy she dashed towards him, grabbing the letter in her hands as well as his. (The picture) The two struggled and it soon quickly devolved into a game of tug-o-war, each attempting to hold on and take the letter from the other while holding back, not wanting to rip it in half and as such have both lose out on the chance. Just as it seemed as if things would continue this way forever, suddenly a *THUD* was heard, and before Dixie and King K. Rool knew it, the letter was gone!

They looked around frantically, until their eyes met another figure, a third figure. Grinning a goofy grin from a nearby tree was Lanky Kong, the oft-forgotten cousin who wanted his chance to shine. He had seen the two struggling and in a moment of courage swiped the letter from underneath their noses with his long, lanky arms. He smiled and opened the letter as the two watched, flabbergasted and utterly defeated, and as he read the invitation's instructions, he taunted his cousin and mortal enemy before disappearing into the jungle, leaving two very confused critters behind. Lanky would make a name for himself in this new world, and with a hick and a doodah and a few banana's - for snacks, of course - he set off, intent on discovering and joining this "world of Smashers"....

I should do this more often, haha.

Beat me to the punch with no story and a different Kong, haha.

Cranky Kong: Ha! The invitation is mine, suckers! (opens the evelope to find a letter to all three of them inside. K. Rool snatches it and proceeds to read it out loud.)

"Dear DK newcomers~"

"King K. Rool, you're in. You didn't think we'd forget about you forever, did you?"

"Dixie, you're in too. You've got potential to be a Luigi-fied Diddy clone, we couldn't leave you out either!"

"Sorry Cranky, you're too old."

"Sincerely, Nintendo."

See, what's funny is that anyone could start up a "Cranky is too old" bandwagon and it would be just as valid as the "Ridley is too big" one. I wonder if it would produce the same fervor...

"Too old" probably wouldn't make as big (no pun intended) of an impact as the "too big" argument. Nor do I think it would be brought up as much. I'm not sure why, but it just doesn't seem like it would, to me at least.

Kinda wishing now that Captain Scurvy had more appearances outside the show.

What other merchandise was there?

Sadly, the other merchandise is currently unknown on the Internet at the moment. Probably they were minor stuff like action figures.

Well, if GameFAQs isn't imaginative enough to imagine a small Ridley, who says they'd be imaginative enough to imagine a Cranky who doesn't drag around a drainage bag attached to a catheter, or who doesn't need frequent medication, or something of that sort?

@Swampasaur What do the responses say, for those of us without Miiverse?

Also, I refuse to like any of those "K. Rool vs. Dixie" Miiverse drawings out of hating the stupid idea that they're "competing for a slot" that's so easy for gullible people to accept. Bah, humbug. :glare:

Good point.

GameFAQs members would probably use it a lot. Still doesn't seem like it would turn up as often around the Smashboards as the "too big" argument does, to me at least. I'm assuming that is because he is a far less controversial character, one who is hardly brought up, espescially when compared to Ridley those regards.

I hate the idea as well. It's easily possible we'll get them both, though I don't think it's necessarily the most likely outcome either.

One of the cons of not having both Dixie and K. Rool (other than missing out on one of them) is that many people will continue to think they were competing for a slot in Smash 4.

Wait, are people really saying Cranky's too old after we see him just as sprightly as his grandson in Tropical Freeze?

They're not, but we're speculating about the possibilities. If a single smaller appearance isn't enough to stop people from calling Ridley too big, what's to stop them from calling Cranky too old, even after a sprightly appearance?

"He's been too old in all of his other appearances! Him not being not-too-old in Tropical Freeze is due to gameplay limitations within Tropical Freeze! Making him not-too-old would ruin his character!" And so on.

I just made a joke about him being too old in my earlier post. Of course, I know he isn't too old for Smash.

But I wouldn't be very shocked if there are still at least a few people saying Cranky's too old, even after his reveal as the 4th playable character in Tropical Freeze.

I asked if they would rather have Dixie or K.Rool (as an experiment).

It's evenly split with a couple people saying they want both.

Christ. Everything's too much for them. What's next? Little Mac's too little? Olimar's too small? Villager's too peaceful? Mega Man's too dead sort of? Wii Fit Trainer's too fit?
