You guys need to watch Rain vs Kuroobi.

He knows EXACTLY what he's doing while fighting snake lol. He pretty much never lost the momentum the entire set.

Kuroobi generally doesn't beat good MKs. It's not Rain being that good vs Snake but Kuroobi not being that good vs MK. Watch Kuroobi vs El for reference.

I might be mixing up Kuroobi with another Snake main in Japan then. Because I have seen videos of snakes doing exceptionally well against their top MKs before.

Kuroobi had a breakout performance at some tournament a couple months ago, but I feel that Souther is generally regarded as the top Snake of Japan.

Actually Shu was the #1 Snake before that but now it seems that he became rather fickle / inconsistent with his performances. Right about that time Kuroobi had his breakthrough.

Souther used to be dominant until late '09 before he took a break. He's working his way up again though, confirming the trend with a strong 3rd place this weekend.

Iblis, do you mind translating the following?

前回優勝者はRainだったが、今回はスマバト覇者のSLSも参戦予定

I found it on the profile page for Rain's streaming channel on Nico Nico Douga. From what Google Translate gives, I think it says that SLS will be attending the next SRBT.

I think it says something like
"Though last year's defending Champion was Rain, in this year's competition he is due to be challenged by Sumabato's Champion, SLS."

Thanks for translating!

There does not seem to be very much interaction between the Brawl scenes of East and West Japan, at least not between their top players. I do not think Nietono has played 9B's Ice Climbers in tournament for almost an entire year now, but, anyway, I am really excited to see how SLS does against East Japan's top players. I am sure he can place well among them, but I doubt he could beat Nietono.

Sorry for the lack of updates. As iblis said I've been "busy" during the weekend - I attenden a smashfest to be more precise. In either case here are the brackets:

SRBT
Sumabato X12

I have no idea how to make the brackets look bigger. Sumabato bracket is almost impossible to read ... if anybody knows stuff about how to make them readable on imageshack I'd be glad if you told me.

By the way, does anyone know if 漆黒 (Shikkoku) who placed 9th at SRBT with Falco is the MK main?
I think so. Shikkoku is a somewhat ... odd name. Too odd to be used by two different players.

That's good to know.

Would be even better to know ... what else I should use then :p

I'm wondering how did Yui beat Kakera. I'm assuming it was Fox vs ICs. I know it isn't an impossible matchup but that would still be very impressive if Yui won in that matchup.

Still didn't manage to get the Sumabato bracket into a viable shape.

Yui either beat Kakeras ICs with MK [unlikely] or his MK with Fox [more likely]. It was probably a mix of both though ... or Yui used Snake or something.

You have the original tio files gheb?

Use imgur.com or minus.com, best uploading sites, they will keep the size, and support "direct link" so you can put the "real" image into [ IMG ] Tags.

Thanks, Akuma!

Here's the bracket for Sumabato X12:
http://i.imgur.com/rZ5sM.gif

Also, the 2nd ranking season of the Sumabato tourney series is over. The overall results:

1st SLS - Falco (MK) - 153
2nd 9B - IC (Lucario) - 151
3rd Nagahari - Diddy - 105
4th Earth - Pit (Various) - 95
5th Cross - Sheik - 87
6th Aki - Falco (Various) - 86
7th Kakera - MK (ICs) - 86
8th Souther - Snake - 84

Next Sumabato will be "special" and a couple of players from the east have confirmed their attendance. It will be held on the 9th of March.
And last but not least, all new videos from numaburamovie as well as the important sets from westmsash have been included in the OP.

It's the overall points from 6 or 7 tourneys ... 2 of them include 9B going all Lucario and placing 25th and 33th respectively. Even the 4 consecutive wins after that weren't enough for him to gather more points than SLS.

Yeah, that's the right password. I'll look at those 4 video files first then and comment in a couple of minutes.

I'll consider recording and uploading the replays, but I have a bit of a backlog of tournaments to upload already, so if anyone else can get to them first they should go ahead.
