I'm sorry, MJ T__T

I know Skyzim said mine was left at Joker's, so yours might be lurking in there, too. Joker's basement can be a scary and wondrous place. o.0;

If you are a Brawl main, it was probably very fun.
There were a lot of competitors present who were good.

If you are a Melee main, it was the same as always.
I only come to Joker's to hang out usually. Melee is just there to be there lol.
It's not that fun when you win both tournies without the slightest difficulty.

But yeah, I love seeing everyone's faces. It was good.

This last tourney made me consider retiring from both games more than ever. Losing to a link in melee while playing shiek? patheticcc. No offense joker, but if I was any sort of decent at that game, it woulda never happened. I just suck at melee and you play link better than I can play the game period.

I used to play the game so much better than I do now. I didn't think i lost all that much skill, but it def shows now that I don't have NE to play against every week.

Brawl, I was just outclassed so I didn't bother wasting my money.

We could use some more faces in conventional fighter land.

LoL, very glad I was put as "Some Guy", Nicole ***** the crap out of me in doubles. Very sad we couldn't save the clip of the C4 of doom. ****ing Joker killing both of us while he's been dead for 30 seconds.

Atomsk is a very interesting man, who's hobbies outside of brawl include masturbating a lot and peeing, to quote him. I think it's bad *** you have a chip and dale rescue ranger ****. Wanna team in Raleigh???????????? Almost j/k?

Fitting that Mega (Rob) Man and Metal (music) Man had to duel it out in the losers bracket. I learned a lot from out battle. I should have used Quick Boomerang.

Easily the most fun I've had at a tournament, hope I see most of you at SLAST and then get your ***** up to Nebraskey and train us. Good games to all. I probably should have spent more time learning brawl, but I was having a blast getting to know everyone.

Bolt you losing to joker is your fault.

It takes practice, experience, and being smart to be good at everything.

Apparently the practice part is missing, and the smart is missing cuz sheik ***** link 65/35 at least.

I can understand why no one would want to play melee. So many requirement for tech skill make the game hard, not fun at times, and insulting.

Im considering picking up another game cuz i realize in the end im there to have a good time with peeps, but i also want to win and if that means camping the whole match with a char who has an amazing projectile i'll do it.

Btw Wobbling is gay. Someone around here plz pick up ics so i can never ever get grabbed again. Even though i didn't :p

WTF quit playing ff13 its a bad game!
Such truth.

Next monthly should have IaMP and MBAA, if I can even be there.

I had the most stressful weekend, also should we figure out hotels for Anime Iowa proly maybe yes? If we all pitch in for one it shouldn't be too much.

Uli speaks the truth, FF8 has probably the best side quests and final dungeon of all the FF's. I re-play it just for the cardgame and Ultimacias Castle rules cause you are completely handicapped until you beat bosses.

You should go to Iowa's thread and do Top 5 for Melee. ;)
As requested by Greg Dang:

Joker is the best in Iowa. He has been for a while, in all honesty. Sorry if that hurts feelings to those who thought you were better; you aren't. He isn't as technically efficient as he can be because he lacks practice but he still does much better than the rest of the scene.

For those who don't know how I judge a person's skill, I don't do that half-syllogism-stupid-bull-crap like most. i.e: Guy 1 beats Guy 2 so Guy 2 is automatically worse than Guy 1. I think that is friggin ******** and people who believe in that should quit competitive gaming.

Anyways, back on track; Joker has the biggest potential out of anyone from Iowa in Melee, in my eyes. He shows that he can be dedicated if he wants to be (i.e: Brawl) and he's a friggin nerd. Two qualities that can make a good player. There's more but this whole page will be as long as a long cat if I continue.

The next two players are really close in skill IMO so I can't really judge it that well but for the sake of the ranking, I'll just go with my gut.

Schism is the next. He has potential but doesn't use it in my honest opinion. He even stated to me before that he doesn't really practice and just goes into things. A lot of his weaknesses lie in his inability to contain himself when he gets pissed. You can only do worse when you're mad and the first step to getting better is to control that anger. As I've stated many times, Schism can be much better if he nerded a little technical skill. He sticks with basics, which isn't a bad thing, but he doesn't use them efficiently enough. He can become a really good player if he wants to, as I've said I see potential in him, but that's up to him.

Bolt is up next and his reasons for being here are the same as Schism's pretty much. Whether they wanna believe it or not, they have very similar mindsets and are very similar as players (not people). Bolt plays a very simplistic style that is solely reliant on his opponent to space poorly. This is a HUGE flaw in his game that can easily be adjusted if he played with people more often who were on his level or better. He lacks practice basically. Bolt can be a good player if he wanted to but I don't really know if he wants to be.

Fourth spot belongs to Greg Dang. He plays seldom from what I hear and what I see. Basically, everyone in Iowa doesn't play enough and aren't willing to put forth the effort to becoming a better player but instead play for the sake of playing. Greg has his moments where he plays well but there are moments where his opponent's smart play gets the better of him and it leads to impatience. Like Bolt, he's too reliant on bad spacing which is understandable since nobody in Iowa is good at spacing in Melee. It doesn't pay off against average skilled players such as myself and the rest of Nebraska who main Melee. Greg wants to get better and that is admirable but you have to really want to become good in order to get better. It's a lot easier said that done, believe me.

I don't even know who would be next honestly. Iowa lacks Meleers.

I'm going to bed. Bye.

EDIT: Jayford isn't in here because he's from Indiana and is only here temporarily.
I didn't forget you buddy :')

EDIT2: If I hurt your feelings, sorry. Blame Greg.

EDIT3: Just woke up then lol'd at the stuff I typed.

That melee list seems pretty good for Iowa. I beat Schism's IC with my Marth but got ***** by his Peach soon afterwards. I did slightly better in melee and beat Ngamer which was a good thing cause he beats me and knocks me out of tourneys since last Sherman's.

Also beat Joker in PBR with my trick room team then afterwards the game was being racist and was not accepting our teams so we played wi-fi and every match we had was really close with him winning. Either way good games everyone.

Iowa lacks Meleers.
i think that this really needs to be addressed. Iowa does lack melee players that r truely dedicated to getting better. i think that most of us lost track of wanting to get better when brawl started to take over, i kno i did. right now i really want to jump back on the melee scene again if everybody here is willing to comply as well. if we can have games every week to practice, i think that we can truely get better. not just playing for the sake of playing, but wanting to excel in the game. im looking at Joker, Love, Skizm, myself, and possibly Blank, CBK and some others to making this happen.

Yessss I wanna play IaMP.
Also it looked like most of the hotels around there were full.

I've completely crusted out.
I'm no longer dressing up for AI.
I'm probably not either. I suck at doing costume shit.

I'm generally up for playing Melee whenever, it's just that no one else usually is.

I'm really just wishy washy with smash. I ***** a lot about how I hate that I'm bad, but I don't put the effort into being good. During the school year my schedule is hectic, especially during the fall. I just stopped putting smash as a priority in my life, as I don't really think I can get much better than I am now. I might be up for games periodically, but from a financial standpoint competitive gaming is a poor choice for me.

im really getting back into melee as well, so if you guys are serious about getting better like i am now you should look into joining my crew that i made and it would definitely help link-states for more competition and faster imrpovement of the MW

i made a thread on mnsmash for it describing everything i have in mind, and yes i would definitely be willing to drive the small 3 hours to iowa to practice

edit: link to post in case anyone wants to read: http://z6.invisionfree.com/MNSmash/index.php?showtopic=491&view=findpost&p=14910022

and between mn and ia's monthlys we could have at least 2 tournys a month available to meet up at which is more than enough. If we have the dedication we can get good, but its just hard when only a few ppl are dedicated in the entire states combined x_X

I should be #1 on the Nebraska Melee Power Rankings after my ****ting on JBM and Mexi in teams tonight...

Speaking of, how was JBM not #1 in the Melee Iowa rankings? Is he considered Nebraska?

Also, FluxWolf, JBM told me your hacked Melee is all Mega Man music. That's awesome. Are you just a fan of the music or would you beat me in a speed run contest?
