Just saw all this stuff, but I suppose my post in the NJ thread still applies.
Lucas;
I appreciate your concern, but I offered to pay as much as I am to assure that I would have a ride (although, I admittedly thought the costs would be 75 dollars). I know how often Smash carpools can fall through at the last second, but I knew an incentive (and removal of money as an excuse for lack of follow through) would make sure I would have a ride since the transportation of my cat as well as my MLG job is on the line if there are complications.
I also appreciate your offer, and although I don't doubt that the backseat riders of your carpool are not of gross size, I'm pretty sure it would be an uncomfortable ride to include myself and a cat (my bag and his accessories, too) that has never ridden in a car before nor been in proximity of that many bodies before.
Max was the first to respond, and has done well in making sure we will be able to get down there. I have no qualms in basically being the patron for Max, Ether, Ninjalink, and Zucco. I'm pretty close with Max and Ether, enjoy the time I've spent with Ninjalink (even when he essentially bent me over in bracket), and always have fun poking fun at Zucco. Now they all totally owe me their souls, and maybe ***** if I'm feeling frisky.
Yeah, it sucks that I have to spend 40 more dollars, but it's for a bit of comfort and peace of mind. Here's to hoping everything goes well and I don't get screwed at the last second.
It's weird how you guys seem to know what is going on in my life economically, but don't actually.
Since this is kind of entertaining to read, here's what my situation is:
I have 600 dollars in the bank, won 500 in the Bahamas, will be getting 350 at MLG, and put in 18 extra hours at my old job while I've been here in NYC for 13/hour under the table cash equaling 230 dollars. So I have 1680 dollars to my name.
My mother doesn't want me living at home and my old room has a mold problem so I am moving in with my friends into an apartment asap. I will be putting down 1000 dollars the first month. I currently have no job or transportation and the rent will be about 450/month, not including my phone bill and food costs. I will be getting a motorcycle since it is less expensive overall than a car, and transportation is essential in the very spread out Charlotte area.
So, no, I don't have cash to toss around. I'm a 21 year old who saved up to move with the expectation that my mother would continue to be the selfish ***** she's always been.
But, I made the offer knowing my economic situation. I do feel a little taken advantage of, but I put myself in the situation for that. I will be speaking to Max more about the specific costs, just to make sure that it is as fair as possible. I would feel like an awful person if I were to bounce out knowing they depend on me. As long as I have a comfortable and dependable ride, I see it as a good investment.
