Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't there a thread dedicated to perfect resting here a long time ago? Do I just suck at using the search function?

I tested this with Veril back in the day and resting through Diddy's dash attack was the most useful and practical application. Look through his comment history and you'll probably find a thread he started on it.

Perfect rest is gimmicky tbh
better off using it for punishing/out-speeding at point-blank range

No because it's entirely dependent upon how well your opponent is mashing.
