My thought exactly, If I were one of the many many MKs that showed up for a tourney, It would get kinda boring right? I mean this is SSBB, not SSBMK for god's sake. If a person would like to chose a different character because they like it, then more power to them.

Good, the metagame needs more diversity anyways. And, if playing MK isn't running rampant like the plague in the future, I don't see much of a reason to ban him. A few MK's is ok, but as of now, it's a bit ridiculous.

Not that I support banning him, YET.

No. He switched to Falco because MK is overused in tournaments. He says it quite clearly and in fact that's the same reason why my friend stopped maining MK as well (he also doesn't come here to these boards, so you can't throw the ban topic at him).

Stop trying to twist people's words, because that makes you look just as bad as the people who are feverishly trying to ban MK.

From what this Angel guy said, it doesn't sound like he was being pressured by other people. Also note that he also said he doesn't main MK any more - doesn't necessarily mean that he won't use him anymore. If anything, he himself was just tired of all the MKs everywhere and decided to pick up someone else for the sake of variety, and it's perfectly understandable. If I went to a tourney where there were nothing but DDDs everywhere, I would definitely choose another character to use because for me, it would feel boring because of lack of diversity (And constant CGing to hell and back). I have the same mindset whenever I play Call of Duty 4 - some guns are simply flatout better than the other guns, and you'd be stupid not to use them. Doesn't mean I can't run around like an idiot firing RPGs at point-blank just so I can get some diversity out of the game. If you think that mindset is stupid, then w/e man.

im not twisting them. seriously, do you really think that any of the MK mainers in smashboards are pressured right now to change mains? i know i am. because of all the MK hate going around, as stated in a different thread, when you win with MK, instead of "good job, your a good MK!", you get a " wowowowow MK IS SO CHEAPPPPP" response.

And this isn't bad? "Oh, I like this character, but I won't him because others use him". OK, why not use him then if he's your favorite character to play as in Smash? What gives everyone else the right to play him but not you?

I've noticed that most people that switched from MK to [insert not MK] did so when the game was still new. The people that are switching from [not mk] to mk are the ones that believe that with their current main, they can't/won't place well in tournaments.

Honestly, the most fun match I've ever played was a C. Falcon ditto on Norfair where the only move allowed was down-taunt. No recovery or jumping allowed. Easily the most tense match I've seen.

Its terrible at my college. I can safely say that Most people I see suck in my opnion I can exploit them easily with mk. However they all love this one olimar player. Everytime he loses he is like you can only get away for half the crap you do only beacuse you play metaknight. His sidekick best friend plays Sonnic he is like since you have the tornado you can beat me. "Metaknight has to much priority" , "Metaknight is to good" , Last but not least there is a mario player who I think is the worst of the 3. Anyway basically the whole school praises them beacause they consider them to be so great. They got everyone calling me metagay. I swear it replaced my name. In school no matter how many times I correct people they constantly call me that. At first I was like whatever you can't beat metaknight. HAHA but now it gets on my last nervs I had this girl walk up to me and said I don't remeber your name but are you the metagay guy. WTF!!!! FAIL you do not want to be approached by a attractive girl and she calls you metagay. Its like rediclous I get called a teir hore and everything. Some people have me in there phones as metagay. Sometime when I play I throw matches just so it can look like he is beatable. We had a tournament at school. Alot of people did not show because I said I was going to play metaknight. What gets me Is I dont even consider myself a pro metaknight player. I am sure Dojo, Forte, M2k , Azen , True= and alot of players could probally beat my metaknight. I recently started playing marth. Just so people will play with me and stop calling me metagay. Then some people don't even like the fact that I am working on improving my marth ( who I played in melee) because they say I only chooose to play with high -teir charactors I don't know how to have fun. I don't know about you but I am one of those people that find winning fun.

I can't believe that a videogame dictates what people percieve you to be.
There is no point in talking to such people.
However, how do they call you something so much, no one knows your name? Do your friends call you that? Do your friends stand up for you? (If they don't that isn't really being a good friend)

Idk, just make a shirt that has your name in big bold letteres. Yeah, make it bright and noticeable, if you really want people to know.

One more thing, call those Olimar and Sonic users to a showdown. Try giving your MT a handicap against you, and a handicap in favor of them. (Maybe you should practice with hanicaps beforehand) If you win they might say, Oh MK is SO GOOD even with handicaps he is God Tier. However, hopefully this will show some of their "followers" that they just plain suck. Also, get some followers of their own. Don't just let this happen to you. Fight back. They don't rule your life, your name, your reputation. YOU DO.
Also, try doing other things that you like besides brawl so that you'd be known for that. IDK just tackle the situation head on, don't let it ruin your college experience.

Ok in all seriousness now: If you're wanting to go super competitive, isn't that something you want? People to end up going "Oh s***, its him" when they have to play you? I read something about being feared in tournaments, gives you the psychological advantage, like a scrub finding out he's gotta face Mew2king or something.

this is a win win for everyone. non-MK players have to deal with his broken, gay *** less, MK players win in that he will take longer to ban, and might even avoid it entirely, with something there to counter the allure of his power. MK hate is the best thing for all parties involved, even MK players.

and without MK hate, you don't get gems like
