You're're playing in a casual game with friends. Who the hell cares? You're playing to have fun aren't you?.
My point exactly. It won't affect tourney play. And if it does happen you can just punch your buddy in his ****.

It's more principle than being worried about losing to noobs. By doing this, Sakurai is openly supporting the idea that the more skilled player won't always win.

Just my opinon, but if you're doing so badly that you actually get it, one final smash probably isn't going to be the difference maker.

come on ppl it's no big deal if it's not turned off, like many have stated before if they suck that bad there not going to win anyway and if your as skilled as you say you are you will win anyway.

I'm getting tired of hearing people say "Oh, it doesn't matter. If they're doing that bad, the Final Smash won't matter!"

Oh YES it will!

Sure, there are going to be times where it doesn't kill your chances at beating someone... you could be fighting a n00b in friendlies, they get it, they get maybe a stock off of you or something, but you still win. I can definitely agree that..

...but what about tournaments? Say two people of equal skill are playing each other and one of them manages to get two AMAZING combos completely obliterating two of his opponent's stocks. What happens then? The opponent can come back with a final smash, and do the exact same thing to his oppnent, perhaps being even more deadly than his oppoenent just was. I personally don't want to play in a match with money on the line where the table can be easily turned after I had just gotten off to a good start or something.

This may be towards the balancing factor in the game, but it's still not a good idea, in my opinion. I'm very hopeful that this can be turned off.

It's not the end of the world if it can't be turned off, anyway there is more casual players then tourney players so why should the creater focus on the tourney side.

Even with such a small group of tourny players, Sakurai knows that the competitive scene is important to the game.

People just need to remember the game is in good hands, I don't see Sakurai making a mistake like forcing people to use this option.

It's a good thing it takes more than two kills.

The way I see it, if my opponent is bad enough to make the game feel sorry for him, I'll probably be the one getting the smash ball out of him.

Regardless as to just how many deaths it takes, it still can happen, and it still can be a way to turn around a match.

It's a handicap that I do not want to be forced into.

If it's in for only timed matches, or if it can be turned off, then good.

I just don't want this to become Double Dash. I hated that game because of the handicaps it gave.

In case anybody hasn't realized, this is just a demo for the game. Why do think that the Smash Balls are appearing so often to begin with? The demo is meant to show off the features of the game that the masses want, and shiny-death-orbs happens to be one of them.

We don't know if this is going to be in the final game, and if it is, there will probably be an option to turn it off. Remember the Power Smashes in the GCN/GBA Mario Tennis game? There was an option to turn it off.

Stop complaining when you don't know what the retail game is going to be like.

Yeah...this topic basically said, "OH NOES, MORE NOOBS TO CATCH UP"

If you can't play around a handicap, shut up. Don't whine or complain about it.

If you're getting that scraped by a person by like -3 or something, would one Final Smash turn it around for you? Plus, the Smash Ball could always be knocked out of a person... So it shouldn't be that bad.

Did Brawl get changed so that so that all Final Smashes are unstoppable homing WTFPWN insta-KOs? Because that's what everyone is this threat is talking like, and I apparently missed the memo...

Okay guys, let's get this straight. This was a demo, and MANY noobs go to play the demo...I think the demo version had the intergrated feature that put on the "handi cap Smash Ball". The dojo clearly says a FS can olny be performed following the breaking of a Smashball.

This could of been just for the demo only, If not then I think this can be turned off in the game on and offline. Anygame that features a handicap option is always able to be turned on or off.

Yes, Sakurai is not dumb. He did this to appeal to the masses at the demo, as pretty much everybody sucked there (except for the repersentitives from SWF). He knows people who love playing Melee, and that he said it would appeal to the "hardcore" gamer, so mark my words, it WILL BE ABLE TO TURN OFF, if it is even in the final game.

I suppose you forgot about this then:

Sakurai said:
"More than anything, Smash Bros. is a competitive action game."
Not to mention it's only a demo

Sakurai isn't dumb, he is very aware of the competitive scene and just wants to please both sides.

hmmm according to the video of Samus, she had a score of -3, i think that having a score of -3 is reason enough to earn a little aid. However, if you suck so much as to get a score of -3, then it should be fairly easy to beat the final smash ball out of you... I don't know what everyone's complaining about. The better player will win regardless...

Still, if I want to obliterate my enemy and get 'immortal', I might not becasue of a freebe they get. That's not fair to the superior player who has spent many evenings and bags of chips training.

Also, this was a demo - maybe it's just there for the demo?

It is Mario Kart all over again.
No, it's not. The spiked shell in Mario Kart could easily change the entire outcome of a match by specifically targetting the leading player and possibly rendering them last. This is not the case with a free smash ball. It takes a certain amount of skill to even slightly change the outcome of a match, depending on who gets the FS. And if a player manages to get -3, I don't think he can pull off the FS without 1) killing himself, 2) screwing over the FS (i.e. Fox getting the Landmaster and driving it off the stage, as what happened in one video), or 3) getting the smash ball beaten out of you as soon as you respawn.

It's really not a big deal. In fact, I welcome the handicap to casual players who can never get the smash ball on their own (as long as you can turn it off, though).

Dude. There is such thing as blocking and rolling. Don't tell me yall cant dodge. On a side note Brawl will most likely have the item cheat like on 64 so you can turn it off.
