Never liked Pokemon, still don't like Pokemon, probably never will like Pokemon.

When I was younger, my brother collected Pokemon cards. I tried to get into it, but honestly never cared for it and only tried because everyone did it at recess. Every day in elementary school there was always a huge group of people trading/playing/staring at Pokemon cards. I never understood it. I just wanted to play some god**** four-square.

What I definitely don't understand is how Pokemon is still almost just as popular now that I'm a senior in high school. The thing everyone played in elementary school recess... is still just as popular. Personally, I'm tired of it. There's only so many years of "MY GOLDEN PIKACHU JUST GAINED 2 BADGE WATER CANON BLAST LEVELS WOOASDOAWEOO!" that I can take.

And now there's a random rampage of Pokemon blogs. Dammit, I'm sick of it. Pokemon is not interesting. Pokemon sucks, and you probably suck a little more for liking it.

Yes, I'm waging a war on Pokemon.
That means don't take the personal attacks seriously

ouch........ well i personally like pokemon :) i liked it from day one when it came out, and i think the reason i still like it(and maybe other people here as well) is prolly just the nostalgia factoir.... i think its kinda tough to explain but i like acting like a kid sometimes, and pokemon, more than anything, brings me back to my childhood!

and dont worry, i dont take your attacks personally :p lol

Pokemon is a hell of a lot deeper than you're giving it credit for. You're exactly like the Street Fighter scrubs who hate on Smash because it's a "kiddie game".

The guy with the lucario sig hates pokemon. You're definately right about the cards and all the merchandise. They're pretty dumb. The core games(or the old ones at least) are for the most part pretty solid though.

I don't see how this is any better than any of the other Pokémon blogs. Which I agree are annoying, but I'm just saying.
[sarcasm] Because I totally claimed this blog to be of a higher quality [/sarcasm]

1. You take things too seriously.
2. I was dumbing it down to make fun of it.

The signature was for Brawl, not for Lucario the Pokemon.

Eh, I'm getting tired of all this talk of Pokemon. Especially since its going on at my school. I don't hate Pokemon though, it's a part of my childhood.

I can respect your opinion about Pokemon.

I'd explain the apeal, but you've already decided that it outright sucks. God forbid that it might be a really good franchise that might just not be your cup of tea. But yeah, I know the feeling. For instance, everyone I know freaking loves Call of Duty. Yes, the games are incredible shooters, that doesn't mean that I couldn't get into them.

1. LOL why do people always say this when you refute a bad point they make? Your OP was awfully serious you know.

2. Well judging by your OP, you don't really know all that much about Pokemon... seriously, give the latest games a try. ;) I agree though that some of the merchandising can be stupid.

This pretty much nails it for me, things that link you to happy childhood memories tend to stick with you.

Kind of like when your dad tries to show you "something that was so great when he was young!" and you're like umm dad, for real? :ohwell: He still thinks its great years later, but to you it might seem kinda lame lol.

I can understand how big trends get pretty annoying though when everyone seems to follow it obsessively and you just don't understand the appeal lol. I feel that way a lot so I totally know where you are coming from.

I can defindently respect your opinion on this. While I do have fond memories of the franchise, it truly has gone downhill since 2004.

However, your personal attack on the 2nd last paragraph was a little bit uncalled for, especially since you added bad language to it, which is against the code of conduct here.

Needs more Digimon.
♣ My soul hurts more. ); ♥

♣ Pokemon is the third most popular icon of Nintendo, which is pretty big. Of course when everything get's popular, there is a number of unpleaser which I can't say if there was a perfect game that everyone loves. Can't please everybody is what I'm trying to say. XD ♥

Design-wise, I think Pokemon took a nose-dive in third generation and got a bit better in fourth generation.

The concept is fun overall. Plus there's some nostalgia.

I don't see it being any less creative and repetitive in concept than Call of Duty: Gook Blaster II or whatever they are nowadays.

It has a basic formula that it sticks to like all series. The base is extremely creative so...

Just don't complain about it and enjoy your own games. I really don't see why people can't do that. :/

I loved Pokemon as a young'un, but drifted apart after the second gen, possibly because I didn't have the next gen handhelds.

Then got a DS and was hit with nostalgia when playing Diamond.
Now with HeartGold out, and Gold being my favourite version, I must play.

All about being a kid again. :) Loved the TV show, taped it and everything.

I agree with this blog 100%. It shouldn't be overrated like it is.

Pokemon is my childhood. And I loved it as a child and always will! Although I am quite surprised on how many Smashers also like Pokemon. XD! But I can't say I'm complaining! There have been tons of threads on it, though..
But yeah! As dorkish and silly as this is going to sound I love the idea of Pokemon in the anime/manga/games because everyone is really happy and like to work together? And it's all about being friends and such! XD; I just really like that~

Always laughed when people thought, say, Zelda was better then Pokemon. Pokemon is infinitely more unique and everything that's tried to copy it has failed, and Pokemon still sticks out today while Zelda is just yet another part of the genre.

Competetive multiplayer RPG? Yes please. Don't even bother mentioning MMOs, as that's just a test to see who's grinded the most.

Of course Pokemon's far from perfect. The actual worlds the brilliant Pokemon/mechanics are put into are pretty bland, and everything outside the games is absolute garbage that makes people such as yourself think it's kiddy. Yeah, it's kind of strange we're still into the same thing we were so long ago, but what about Mario and the rest? Even then, I like Pokemon for significantly different reasons then I did back then, back when I actually bought into all the marketing schemes.

I have to post in here to say that ""MY GOLDEN PIKACHU JUST GAINED 2 BADGE WATER CANON BLAST LEVELS WOOASDOAWEOO!"

.....pft blast levels.....

Made me giggle in a way that scared my cats.
Anyway good luck with your funny war, I'm still a pokemon nerd. To the point that I still draw the silly critters. But uh yeah you don't see the appeal and uh...okay.
and because I am shameless lookit my Flygon:

 !!

Oh no he di-int!

Oh yes he did!

Oh no he di-int!

Oh yes he did!

Oh no he di-int!

He just did, Peter! I saw it!

but yeah, I will admit I never liked it, but then again I never tried it, really. The only pokemon game I've touched... there's 2 actually. One where like, you're playing with Pikachu and some TV thing, it was for the gamecube iirc, my wife HAD to have it, and hours went by while she played with Pikachu.

The other was a wii-ware title that's kinda like Pokemon meets Contra or something, lol it was actually kinda fun, but I didn't play it much...

I equate my dislike to Pokemon as I do my dislike to Power Rangers. Everytime I see the power rangers show on TV I just laugh cause of how cheesy it is. But then I get thwacked on the head for making fun of it cause my wife adores it. I hate to say it, I think I was too old when Pokemon came out, I just missed the boat on that one, and some things you just can't go back and try, they're not meant for you to.

LOL @ four squares! Hell yeah, now that's entertainment. Kickball too :p

Pokemon is very competative though. Its metagame is always evolving and ever changing. New tactics are and sets come out all the time, and their is a clear distinction between the levels of play.

It's all luck based though. There's absolutely no skilled involved in competitive Pokemon. It's all reading, numbers, and grindan. It's a crappy competitive game and that's no surprise considering it's a ****ing RPG.

No, its not all luck based at all. If that were true, then the ladders and top players would be inconsistent. They aren't, the same people are always at top. You don't know what you are talking about at all. The most luck you'll see is if you are fighting a HAX Togekiss, but even then, that's trying to play the luck on your side, similar to many fighting game charecters with random elements, like Faust on Guilty Gear.

Sorry, but you're wrong.

What the **** do you think makes a game competative? Its not how technically difficult something is. If that were true, then Marvel Versus Capcom would be the most respected fighting game. Fun fact, it isn't. Street Fighter HD Remix is FAR easier in every reguard, but has a higher level of prestige.

Simple. Because complaining about things is fun.

I'm relatively indifferent to Pokemon. I never really watched the anime, disliked Pokemon Yellow, but when I was like seven or eight I used to collect loads of trading cards... I don't have them anymore; my cousin noted that I had a couple of rare ones so I let him have the whole folder...

Yeah! I like competitive Pokemon, too. There are just a bunch of strategies, teams, and counters to come up with..
I think it's way more than just luck. Just because it looks like a kid game doesn't mean it isn't pretty legit. XP

Hey Water, I'm pretty sure you can cheat to get your Pokemon to lvl 100 with max stats and any legal moveset, if you're playing competitively. The idea is that, if you could do it in the game with enough time, you can do it with cheat codes instead to save time. So no, there's no grinding.

The poster above me seems to be the only person who understands that I was not being completely serious. Props to him for getting the point.

1. LOL why do people always say this when you refute a bad point they make? Your OP was awfully serious you know.

2. Well judging by your OP, you don't really know all that much about Pokemon... seriously, give the latest games a try. ;) I agree though that some of the merchandising can be stupid.
1. Because I'm a very sarcastic person, and most of the time I'm not being serious. For some reason, everyone who posts on the blogs likes to think that when someone responds sarcastically, they are attacking them. No, that's not the case, and I even put at the end of the blog not to take it seriously for this exact reason. That apparently went ignored.

2. Again, I dumbed it down to make fun of it (you don't honestly think the "MY GOLDEN PIKACHU JUST GAINED 2 BADGE WATER CANON BLAST LEVELS WOOASDOAWEOO!" line is serious... do you?). I've played through one of the first gameboy games, and Pokemon Stadium. Didn't think much of them. Both were very forgettable.

and yet your signature has an image of a Pokemon and a GIF of that same Pokemon. If I really did hate Pokemon I'd kick Lucario to the curve and never main Pichu, Jigglypuff or Pikachu.
Already addressed that. My signature is for Lucario the Brawl character, not Lucario the Pokemon.
