Xbox as a whole isn’t popular in Japan, so it’s not that big sadly. But Halo 3 ended up selling decently back in the day.How popular is Halo in Japan? I know over here Halo is up there with Mario, Sonic, Final Fantasy and Zelda. But I don't know what the Japanese think about Halo.
Snake has explosives..Master Chief has too many guns and explosives, so that hurts his chances. Plus, he's evil. There's no way
Yeah, I know Halo 3 was where it was most popular there. The rest have kinda just been whatever. I think Chief is big enough character, though, even for the Japan region.Xbox as a whole isn’t popular in Japan, so it’s not that big sadly. But Halo 3 ended up selling decently back in the day.
From what I know, hardcore Japanese gamers atleast know what Halo is. So I don’t think it’s a death sentence that Halo isn’t popular in Japan, I think Japanese gamers would understands it’s a pick for Americans much like how Hero was a pick for them.
Well sephiroth strictly comes from a japanese RPG so its still Japan's baby. Even if he is well known, its still from the eastI wouldn’t include Sephiroth in that group. He’s a beloved icon across the globe.
I’m not sure about Min-Min either, I don’t really know how popular Arms is in Japan. That might just be a “pick for Nintendo execs to promote a newer serie
s” lmao
Yeah, it's kind of weird. I really thought E3 was the make/break point for Master Chief. But now, I'm not so sure. I think he has a solid shot. At this point, it feels like just about anyone has a good chance.I get why people think E3 was his last chance, but if there really is some sort of collaboration happening in the fall, I see that as an even better opportunity.
Plus with King Zell mentioning that a reveal like that would most likely happen in a direct of some sortWe've had big character reveals like Cloud and Steve outside of E3 before, so I can at least see why some hope for Chief to being the fall reveal can still occur.
We all know he would be the last fighter. Your not going to say"masterchief finishes the fight" when you still have one more DLC announcement. Therefore he didn't finish it. Doesnt make senseI get why people think E3 was his last chance, but if there really is some sort of collaboration happening in the fall, I see that as an even better opportunity.
Actually now thinking about it I think we're falling in pattern towards Smash reveals being huge during the summer/fall. The real only huge announcement during E3 for Smash was for Smash Ult reveal, and Banjo and Hero. But huge characters like Cloud and Steve for example had epic reveals during the fall as well. We've had big character reveals like Cloud and Steve outside of E3 before, so I can at least see why some hope for Chief to being the fall reveal can still occur.

Sakurai has said numerous times, FP11 will be it for SmashMaster Chief from Halo via Microsoft likely 1st character of Fighter's pass 3

6 XBox Head Phil Spencer has had multiple interviews as of 07/11/2021 with a Nintendo Switch in the background and it means Microsoft is actually working very well with Nintendo.

7 I think Master Chief will be a Game Awards announcement. Honestly He an Ahri are the only two I can think of who are the most deserving.
Reasons for believing in a fighters Pass 3
1 As long as there’s an opportunity to make more fighters, Sakurai said he wants to push the record further. 11th Sep 2019
https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/sakurai-no-way-future-smash-bros-games-will-have-as-many-fighters-as-ultimate/
2 Sakurai has a history of going back on his words for the fans. ( I.E. going back on no more after fighter’s pass 2 )
What Sakurai said about not including Ridley as a character in Super Smash Bros. 4 is most notable.
"if we made Ridley as a fighter, it wouldn’t be Ridley any longer," explained Sakurai. "It’d have to be shrunk down, or its wings reduced in size, or be unable to fly around freely. Providing accurate portrayals of characters is something I want to pay ample attention to.""Instead of going through a lot of very convoluted hocus-pocus to make Ridley a fighter, I figured it’d be better to keep Ridley as is, the correct way, & have it feel like a truly threatening presence." - Masahiro Sakurai
Shigeru Miyamoto at one time asked Sakurai if Pac-Man could be in Smash, back then Sakurai felt it was too farfetched.
Sakurai also noted Villager & the Miis status’ as being "unsuited for battle" as why they weren't included in SSBB. Rather, they'd be added to Super Smash Bros. 4's roster .
3 Nintendo is trying to grow an official Smash Ultimate competitive scene and therefore likely their client base
3.1 Nintendo announced a partnership with PlayVS to bring ( SSBU / Splatoon 2 ) e-sports leagues to 3,000 High schools
https://www.nintendo.com/whatsnew/detail/2021/nintendo-partners-with-playvs-to-bring-competitive-fun-to-high-school-varsity-athletics/
3.2 Nintendo will most likely in 2022 announce another partnership with PlayVS to bring SSBU e-sports leagues to Colleges
https://www.ginx.tv/en/smash-ultimate/nintendo-forces-playvs-to-drop-smash-ultimate-collegiate-league
3.3 Super Smash Bros Ultimate frequently draws high volumes of students and is the National Esports Association’s recommended event for gauging student interest in collegiate e-sports. https://www.nea.gg/collegiate-smash-series
4 How many DLC characters was really a decision up to ( Shuntaro Fuwakara Nintendo President as of 2018 ) and the other companies who agreed to give the licensing of their characters to ( Nintendo and Masahiro Sakurai. )
4.1 Sakurai only gets first right of refusal so, only a Nintendo ( CEO / President / other high level ) can rule out a fighter’s pass 3.
5 Nintendo is trying to redo their ( best year 2017 ) in 2022. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7ffpzyd2JM&t=648s
2 SSBU DLC seem to be going the same direction as SSB4. ( I.E. Sakurai going back on no more after fighter’s pass 2 )Sakurai has said numerous times, FP11 will be it for Smash
I really, really don't think people should be getting their hopes up for a FP3.2 SSBU DLC seem to be going the same direction as SSB4. ( I.E. Sakurai going back on no more after fighter’s pass 2 )

Everything’s in the post E3 lull rn tbh. The Newcomer Speculation thread has been pretty boring this past week & Halo: Infinite news has dried out too.Dang discussion for Chief really died down after E3.
I hope we hear some new rumors or something soon. Its nice to have something to discuss.
He is an industry icon. Probably the most popular icon that isnt in smash yet which is why I feel he has a good shotEverything’s in the post E3 lull rn tbh. The Newcomer Speculation thread has been pretty boring this past week & Halo: Infinite news has dried out too.
Edit:
343 released this today. They’ve partnered up with a lot of Halo content creators to celebrate Master Chief & his 20th anniversary. I wonder if they’re doing that with anyone else; they even call him an industry icon in this article.
Master Class
<p>ISSUE 117 So, I’m pretty excited. And not just because the Tampa Bay Lightning just won back-to-back Stanley Cups. I’m excited about today’s edition of Canon Fodder—particularly with that legendary number we’ve now reached. In case you thought that rad seasonal content for Halo: The Master...www.halowaypoint.com
I feel he’s inevitable, it’s just a matter of when. I think there’s a chance that Nintendo/MS have already signed contracts so that Steve & Banjo come back for the next game with Master Chief being the big newcomer for that game.He is an industry icon. What if the reason why steve took so long was because Microsoft wanted all those 3 characters in the game together? Chief, banjo and steve. I call it the holy trinity.I feel he’s inevitable, it’s just a matter of when. That seems to be what happened for Cloud. They got him for Smash 4, while making sure he got in Ultimate along with Hero/Sephiroth.
That's only for Xbox roster.I would say that Marcus Fenix is 2nd to Chief in terms of importance.
With how close MS and Nintendo have been, I agree that it's pretty inevitable. But, I wouldn't blame them if they want to save Chief for later Smash installment. But who knows? They may not have thought that far ahead.I feel he’s inevitable, it’s just a matter of when. Ah sorry about misunderstanding. It was hard for me to determine which part you were referring. My point was referring to Sirfishe comment about a "holy trinity".

In terms of gaming icons I cant think of any other fighter. The ones I can think of are scorpion and lara croft. Sora and crash are cool but they're nowhere on the level halo was on
Here’s hoping they just said screw it & are putting him in now. That's only for Xbox roster.

Yeah I was kind of disappointed when I read this. I'm hoping he's just deflecting the question until later.Head of Xbox Phil Spencer Finally Explains Why He Has A Nintendo Switch on His Shelf
Interesting... I still believe there is more to Switch than what he revealed here.
Of course, I will keep my expectation in check. Still, MS still put Switch in Gamestack event.Yeah I was kind of disappointed when I read this. I'm hoping he's just deflecting the question until later.
I still think something is up between the two companies, but its probably good to temper our expectations a bit.
