You don't seem like you know any of the Global Rules, do you, Falcon? One of these rules states that there is to be no flaming. What you do all the time is flaming. I have only flown off the handle once, and that is because your posts anger me to the point where my blood "boils."

And please, why should I be afraid of you? What happens if I don't "GTFO?"

Same reason why I'm apparently supposed to be afraid of you.

You definitely made it better by flaming everyone in the thread in big, large, red letters and acting like you own us all.

You do realize you just started another flame war, right?

I'm really sorry, Serris. Your thread has been killed, and all you wanted to do was rant about something really legitimately unfair.

Kinda funny how the guy so mad at me for flaming posted something I'd never in my wildest dreams do.

Then again in my wildest dreams I have lots of sex and stuff, so why would I be on SWF.

Also, this blog can still live on, if we get back on the issues about people needing to be less sucky lol.

Edit-Looocas you say silly things and necro threads. I'm not even going to try reasoning with you.

Wow that really sucks OP. My faith in humanity has been dwindling and after seeing your post and the way this thread ended up just made it even lower. I hope you make it out okay. Being homeless is no joke.

Yeah... that was completely unnessecary... You're just feeding the fire, man. I think this thread was derailed more from people getting on Falcon and Teran than the actual discussion that branched off from Serris's situation.
those guys are really good at baiting responses, this threads fate was inevitable

I had already sent this to Susa in fear of being reported, but here is my response to his last post:

I think I should remove "intelligent," since it IS subjective etc. I would rather say "good discussion." While it is still subjective, it can at least be judged by results (which is much easier to do).
So now I will say that good discussions always work towards achieving a good result.

These are extra thoughts pertaining to your scenario of taking over the world. My first answer was quick b/c I had to leave, but I assumed that world domination is a good thing. That would mean that the 4 friends and the world would live happily ever after.
If world domination was just bad for the world, however... The world would naturally do something to try and overthrow the 4 friends, correct? I believe this has happened to all tyrants throughout history.
Something bad may happen to the 4 friends, whether it be assassination like Caesar, a coup, etc. Or at least the 4 friends will live in fear for their lives. I hope you'll agree with me that their decision to take over the world would then be bad.
With this conclusion, I'll then say that their discussion was in fact not good, because none of the 4 friends predicted these consequences.

On topic: Serris' father made a huge mistake, so he must be punished. Based only on the mistakes he made, is the $17000 lawsuit justified? How much would be fair?

I did not end out bait for idiots who take **** way too seriously.

Stop questioning that I'm just a mean spirited son of a *****, god ****it people. As for Teran, he's just godly, don't insult those who are closest to godliness.

Edit-Alphican you couldn't be more right.

Fair is whatever society deems it to be. Whatever the outcome, that is the most fair outcome.
i'm not really sure if "society" as a whole deems what is fair or not.......i'd say its more like "the richest and most powerful" of society decide whats fair......

just look at the OJ Simpson trial :ohwell:

But it is impossible to determine what is actually fair due to different interpretations. Therefore when a law is made, society must accept it or else it would not be law (even in non-democratic systems, if things get too out of hand the majority of people will change it). Whether or not you think an outcome is fair is irrelevant, because the majority of people have already determined the amount of punishment you get for doing certain things.

Actually we fell in love with each other. Then I remembered I'm straight at it just didn't work.
Oh, how sad. So that was like teenagers' love.

Love at first sight that disappears a minute later. How sad :(.

Must I spell this one out? I am saying fair is a very vague term, so I am just saying instead of being bias when it comes to fair, just think of whatever happens is as fair. Get it?
I see. Whatever the court decides will be fair.

I guess our discussion here is even more useless than I thought  (referring to the flame war)
The decision really isn't in our hands. I'd like to hear more opinions about this lawsuit, though.

If not, we should just wait for Serris to come back with the ruling.

Edit: maybe we could bring up this point: Jefferson stated that "A democracy is nothing more than an angry mob, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine." http://leounheort.blogspot.com/2006/05/flaws-of-democracy-and-what-it-should.html
I think discussing the flaws of democracy may still be on-topic... :/

in non-democratic systems throughout history, if rich and powerful monarchs made laws that society didnt agree with, that didnt stop them from reigning over their people with an ironfist and doing what they wanted to do (just look at European kings throughout the middle ages).

you seem to think that a society disagreeing with law would stop that law from being valid. not true at all.

Well actually we've gotten to the point where society does call the shots. Bringing up history from that long ago is completely irrelevant to this debate because not only does it also work in my favor it just doesn't apply to the issue at hand directly enough.

For example I could take what you said and say that most European monarchies/autocracies/tyrannies etc. Were overthrown by the people of the country due to "unfair" laws and rulings. See look society deemed it as unfair so they changed it so it was fair. Then it followed that pattern until now. At this point you could debate that this could happen again, but I would begin to argue that it wouldn't matter because at the moment, for the most part, most of society believes we live in a fair system, and I am sure for a long time people who lived in those "unfair" societies believed that is was fair up until the time it was changed.

This is pretty off topic though but who cares right?

lol, it's apparently been off-topic the entire time. I feel like adding this in really quickly: laws define right and wrong. But circumstances change- sometimes the best thing to do is illegal!
This is where the court makes decisions. Hopefully, it'll be lenient on Serris' parents, because the lawsuit seems excessive to me.

edit: I think this was brought up earlier, but I'll mention it again. A large part of the global (and US) population is uneducated. Do all Americans deserve the right to vote?

yes i have no issue with all americans voting. the only real issue i have with our current voting system is the ****ing ELECTORAL COLLEGE. it serves no purpose, ditch it.

Ugh, I wouldn't let all Americans vote. At school, I saw seniors saying that they voted for Obama "because he's black, yo" or "because McCain's gonna die in eight months, yo."
****it, I hate stupid people. :(

lol i take it you were a mccain supporter

but seriously though, ALL political parties have their unintelligent supporters, they pretty much cancel out to allow the intelligent voters decide the outcome.

Actually, I didn't support either. I couldn't keep up with the campaigns and schoolwork, so I decided that if I couldn't intelligently support anyone, I wouldn't at all. I used pro-obama quotes b/c everyone in high school is a liberal
except for the very few that I personally know. And they're either doing it for the kicks or have military history :p jk

"A young conservative has no heart. An old liberal has no brain" Churchill

I think Obama had the upper hand the entire campaign. Since television, campaigns have relied way too much on appearance. Obama was young, revolutionary (which is a plus after years of war), and black. I say "black" b/c" African American" is too long to type. I hope it still isn't considered a pejorative term.

I'm unsure on exact numbers, but a large portion of black voters voted for Obama. The black vote put Obama in the lead, didn't it? These are obvious hints that Americans must be better educated.

you say a large portion of black voters voted for obama.......so what? an even bigger portion of white voters voted for him too, that doesnt mean anything, youre just taking note of one demographic and using that for a case.

black people still only make up 13% of the US population; for every black person that voted for obama simply for the color of his skin and nothing else, there was 1 or 2 caucasians that voted for mccain cause they didnt want a dark-skinned president.

i repeat....EVERY political party has ignorant followers, its inevitable

and btw, i dont call obama black or african-american, i call him biracial to be correct.

Somebody lock this **** thread. It's gone from sympathy posts to trolling to somewhat intelligent discussion to politics. It's completely off-topic, and it's a reminder of the cancer that's plaguing User Blogs.
