Link to original post: I bricked my Wii

Today, I decided to hack my Wii.

Now, it's dead. And I can't afford a new one.

Pros:

+ My obsession with gaming will be gone
+ My obsession with Smashboards will be gone

Cons:

- No more Brawl for me
- No more Brawl for any of my classmates (I used to bring it to school every day)
- No more online Brawl for Ange
- My four younger siblings will probably not be happy
- I had 239 stars in Super Mario Galaxy. Ugh.

EDIT: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

IT WAS THE ELECTRICAL CORD

You can always go steal one, just don't get caught.
or
get a job and work for another Wii
or
ditch all of this and enjoy life, hmm?

Probably "Wow, hacking the Wii makes it 100x more worth playing."

I hacked my Wii and had no problems. I'm guessing you majorly screwed something up while you were doing it, no offense.

It sucks that you Wii is bricked, though...sorry.

Let this be a lesson to anyone and everyone that wants to hack your Wii: Be careful. Only download from trusted sources.

300 dollars isn't that much if you can find a good job or just any job really.

Maybe a summer job if you don't have one.
I'm doing the same to get a ps3 this summer.

edit: If you don't have a Wii nor smashboards then a summer job won't be that hard :D

That sucks. What is like being bricked? Like, what does it do? I'm assuming it acts like a brick...but I'm just curious.

Anyway, can't you fix it? I'm pretty sure you can...

Well if all else fails. You can always grab some cereal, turn on the TV and watch commercials and sit on the couch.

Or you go to Universal Studios Florida/California and win a wii for 2 bucks in the arcades. (Or a Xbox 360, Ps3, Psp, Giant stuffed animal lol.)

There's a failsafe method for after you already have the new CIOS installed to prevent perma-bricking (it'll boot straight from DVD instead of running the IOS,) but that's only after you've softmodded it. Currently there is no way to unbrick a bricked Wii. Once you try installing any homebrew software, you're voiding the warrant and Nintendo will do nothing about it.

Well now you can do, um... brick things with it, throw it through your neighbors window and steal theirs IDK, use it as a paperweight, or even better find some guy who wants it and sell it to them to buy a new one, I know it's evil but if you have to go back to real life you probably wont last

Both ideas amazing. Maybe some Wii decorative art? Make a necklace out of one of the processors. I'd buy one.

EDIT: Get out a camera and make a how-to tutorial on unbricking your Wii (smash it with a bat.)

What the hell did you do, open it up and dump chocolate sauce in it? I didn't even know it was possible to brick the hardware by trying to hack the software.

I just managed to make my Wii not read discs. I can check the weather, but I can't play games.

Lol, I don`t either, I have homebrew but don`t want to risk doing anything else to it.

The hardware is still fine during a brick, it's the firmware and/or software that doesn't work.

Sorry to hear that.

I can now

- Build a house with my Wii
- Go to London and throw it at policemen
- Ask a guy with a black belt in karate to chop it with his hand
Second option, hands down.

If it hadn't be the electrical cord, I would have gone with option three, in which case you should have brought it to me cause I have the black belt and nothing to karate chop. :D
