Yea Jesse, I was talking about options out of shield. Not like that makes your post irrelevant, I absolutely love SH waveland ftilt, it has more range than fair and really tests your opponent's spacing.

Also, Ian, I gotta say I agree with Renth and Ace on this one. Bowser is all gimmicks. Like if he's above you and you're shielding, you know exactly what he's going to do... his only option, side-b. And if he's in shield, he essentially only has two options: up-b or roll, since his jump is so terrible.

EDIT: Shut the **** up ripple, you don't have a main looool

lol, side-b isn't his only option. and no good bowser player would use roll.
You're right, not his only option, but almost definitely the one he'll select in that situation. Trail has a decent bowser actually and you can definitely bait it out of him and counter it simply by rolling.

And if bowser can't roll, then he only has one option in shield lol. Granted, it's a good option.

Joe: Oh yeah, conceptually it was ok.. just the majority of it was unnecessary.

looks like Chris, me, adam(lozr), and some others will be getting together for some smash next week. I should snag one of those cheapo capture cards you were talking about Joe and stream the shenanigans largely involving ganon.

sucks dave won't be around.

Yea I hear you haha, drinking + melee is too much fun. You should've been there for our shotgun/shot matches (a u of i tradition!)

No idea why taking a break seems to improve you, but that is true for me as well. Last time I had taken a long break, I played the best I ever had.

Ian: it's on the next time we meet up..!

Joe: dave is on a 100+ day streak of consecutively working... so he'll be in jersey.

as for improving in melee, historically(around 7-8x) I get a *little* better through long breaks. I'm not sure entirely why, but the same concept works for me with guitar and other things also. i partly attribute it to the other games I play... most consider me as the 3rd or 4th best quake 2 player in the nation, and the games I typically mess around with are smash64 and SF2, both with a gamecube controller...but really i'm not too sure. even with tech skill though, after not playing for months if I play fox for an hour then my tech with him will be the best it's ever been. although i do at least think about melee when i'm not playing.

when I do play smash and have people over though, I end up drinking about 15+ shots/beers so I guess there's always that steady change with my play as the day progresses, lol. that aspect will undoubtedly be the same. I think this time around we'll be doing the '100 beer challenge'.

so yeah pretty much the same.

I've played Iori's Bowser, which is saying alot since he's the same guy who almost beat Wobbles in a MM with Kirby. He plays almost every low tier as well as the best "main" does for that character. Bowser does NOT scare me. I think I remember 3 stocking Iori, and making him get off Bowser completely after beating him with Young Link back in like 2010. So no Ian, I'm afraid the Bowser matchup is not 65-35 in Bowser's favor LOL

That's funny just saying it. I mean...I would think it's like 60-40 Ganon AT BEST for Bowser. If I ever meet you, I'll be happy to MM you with any of my secondaries, or Ganon vs Bowser.

LOL Bowser winning a matchup

my bowser senses have been tingling for a couple days and now i know why

just as an fyi, if bowser is above you and you are shielding the gut reaction might be to just side b every time as a beginner bowser player or as a character specialist that never took it to the next level, but simply landing next to them and doing any number of things will just destroy the spotdodge on reaction anyway, and it's especially easy to shield poke with just a basic up b in this situation

you know.

predict and punish.

like your plan was with just spotdodging.

don't make characters into their bare minimum for matchups or youre going to lose to superior players for oversimplifying everything

but seriously my bowser sensors have been goin off over here y'all need to calm down this is the ganon boards LOL

also bowser is terrible and has no winning matchups at all, ganon/bowser is worse than 60-40

but it's a blast to play as a bowser player and a blast to play as a ganon player

So, I've been too busy to check this website much since I started university, but now that it's the winter break, I've finished the Mass Effect trilogy, and am about to start applying for a fellowship, I have time to come here. What have you guys been up to in the past 4 months, or whatever it's been?

And Pseudo, how did you know I've never played Chrono Trigger? It's pretty high up on my list of games I absolutely need to play, though. Although I'm pretty sure my next purchase will be The Last Story.

My avatar is a VF-25S Valkyrie from Macross Frontier, although I'm considering switching to Black Lotus from Accel World.
