In some Matchups it really pays off to play that safe. In a situation where trading hits isn't great. Like Marth vs Shiek trading hits or Aerial spamming puts marth in a position to get F Tilted or Dash attacked..now whether it's a clean hit or not Marth looses alot of exchanges by pure character weakness. By Japanese players using less aerials etc. and more ground pressure or even Dash Dancing it's just less chance(Not neccessarily Better) to be put in coin flip or losing situations.
Not saying a double jump spamming Falco cannot beat a marth, but there is a risk factor involved in the type of movement that falco spaces with. IMO the japanese not getting hit is not just avoiding attacks but even combo variations (Upsmash vs extra up tilt etc.)
Masashi I think on that stage/match up feared getting grabbed more than a jump stealing dash attack. Granted he didn't win, but let's look at a Sex kick drilling fox who COULD **** the peach but might also get *****. I dunno, another reason why people like PC are amazing for thier style of play. Alot of US non-pc chris people try to space like PC because we see it work and it looks good but that takes ALOT of execution and skill. I think we can all learn something Japanese players. PC's matches would be faster than masashis but Masashi is no joke either and would do well against many American players. I think we forget at times that Aggressive play has a foundation of simple spacing and hit confirmation( 2d fighter thing)
And yes PC is alot better than Masashi but both players style of spacing and play has gotten them in trouble and has been exploited by smart players.
Talking about Smash is fun.
