I am informed through EXPERIENCE in both reading(whether ive completed trillions of book or read halfway through trillions of books) and movies(ive seen more than most people i know). im sorry you cant understand that. So go ahead and go read your harry potter books. Ill WATCH it.

lol pj, its RT. He just joins the "lets bash allan for his opinions" wagon
How are u informed if the last book you've completed (YOUR OWN WORDS) is Hank the Cowdog? How have you completed trillions of books if the last book YOU STATED YOU completed is Hank the Cowdog?

I'll make it simple so you can understand :)

Your not smart enough considering your standards of reading to GENERALIZE literature and to try and FORMULATE GENERAL FACTS ABOUT IT. And judging from what you wrote about it and your comments afterwards, we're saying you haven't read enough books to formulate a educated opinion about literature. Thats it. The end. We never had a problem about your opinion, never had a issue of your feelings about movies, the only problem we had was that. Will our thoughts change, nope. Can you change them in your current state, nope.

I'll put in dragon ball Z terms. We're like SS4 Goku and ur like Raditz. Your like "Man super saiyan is overrated" and we're like "wtf u can't even go SS1, hell you can't even break a scouter how you gonna tell us it's overrated."

Kinda like that :)

Okay I'm bored off to class

I'll house you for a couple of months.
If you are serious, I'll be there tonight.
You ARE serious, right?

Is the Houston scene like this in person? O_o
When the other cities aren't around.

So I guess in summary...

-You're a ****** if you don't agree with Allan.

-98% of the population are ******* because of this.

-school is boring

I'm glad we had this healthy argument.

Guys if you argued about the economy I would have sooo much fun with you all [:
There Is only one way I will argue this stuff with you. If u can correctly answer the following question: who or what caused the most recent economiic recession?

Two things I'd quickly like to correct here.

I read an article a year ago that said in times of depression, all fun, extraneous activities don't make much profit...except for movies.
I'd like to pop in and say this is wrong and ignores an industry that is now larger in growth and profit than the film industry. Gaming. The gaming industry has grown enormously despite economic hardship in nearly every other sector.

The world of film is much more lucrative on the whole than books. Few books today reach the literary equivalent of "blockbuster" status.
Popularity is not equivalent to quality, nor should this ever be an argument other than "film is where the money is, therefore from an economic standpoint it is superior." And from an economic standpoint? It is. Film is, like you said, much easier to digest. This is a strength of the format. People like Allan can watch a screen for two hours instead of having to sound out what Hank may or may not have been doing.

Avatar may have made a poopload of money, but is it the best movie in existence? I could go into depth how blockbusters pander to archetypal stereotypes and give prime examples of slaughtering meaning of the work that is not uncommon to even non-literary adaptations (while it was an adaptation, I would definitely cite I am Legend here) because it sells better than telling a story that doesn't end in "and they lived happily ever after." I'm not going to. All media formats have their strength, but I disagree that film tells a better story than literature.

And that Allan is simply wrong for saying emotional response is something film can provoke and literature is unable to.

I'm glad you have a passion, and it's obvious you don't withdraw from any other media format despite having this passion. Keep on truckin', Zigsta.

Define what the "most recent economiic recession" was.

Totally agree with you on that. I brought that up in my argument solely to prove that from a financial basis, more people watch movies than buy books.

Ok so THAT is what's bothering you. U miss understood me. I never said books cannot provoke an emotional response( I'm sure someone out there was sad that snape killed dummydor). What I mean is it can't give you the more vivid(IMO) emotional response that a movie can. Due to camera view/music/atmosphere/ and the over all fact u can SEE it. Notice how in all my posts I say IMO. It means it's my take on why books ain't better than movies.

Just because you say "this is my opinion" doesn't mean what you are saying is actually an opinion. You have posts that say, "******** books can't do that."

IMO hammers can't hammer nails because IMO nailguns are better in every way.

Well technically the recession is over by definition.

It was caused by firms and domestic policies that hurt trade and policies and mandates over the past 10 years.

By the way, what is your favorite movie of all time? I like hearing what buffs think is the best.
Toy Story, easily. I learn something new about the film literally every time I watch it.

I also love how perfect the supporting characters are portrayed, particularly Rex: We learn he's got serious confidence issues from his dialogue, but if you pay close attention to just one line in particular, there's a lot more psychologically under the surface. When Slinky, Rex, and Mr. Potato Head welcome Buzz to Andy's room and tell him what company they're from, Rex says he was made at Mattel (well, actually a smaller company purchased in a corporate buyout).

One day after watching Toy Story for the umpteenth million time, that line hit me. So I researched Mattel. They're the makers of Hot Wheels and Barbie. It's no wonder that Rex feels insecure about himself--he was born under the shadows of two of the most successful toy franchises of all time!

Toy Story's a film I often rewatch to study. It's full of little details that all add up upon careful inspection. John Lasseter calls it "Sandpapering the bottom of the drawer."

If you can use your imagination books give you more vivid emotions, because the books go into greater detail. you the reader decides what the atmosphere is like. you don't need to see things to have a "vivid emotion."

you said you've read Harry Potter and seen the movie, this should let you know how much movies leave out of the original story and how much detail is not in the movie. bro

he said it!

also Zigsta is no longer a true Disney fanboy. You said if Disney were primarily stories and novels, you probably wouldn't be that interested in Disney. WTF

(Jerm, you would like this too)

DJ Shadow - Endtroducing

http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/2084/DJ-Shadow-Endtroducing/

(Jerm - you might like this too. It's mainly instrumentals but it has really good beats. Xyro, Sync, P4 - I'm pretty sure you would all love this.)

http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/8477/Godspeed-You!-Black-Emperor-F#A#∞/

(This band changed my life. Mainly instrumentals with interviews from people. This album tries to portray the end of the world (Revelations) through music. If you're going to try it out, listen to it through headphones, and it's like an hour long with only three songs so be prepared.)

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Slow Riot For New Zero Kanada

Maudlin of the Well - Bath

http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/8096/maudlin-of-the-Well-Bath/

(This album is soooooooooooooooooo good. It's like Jazz/Metal/Psychedelic. Jerm - maybe. KRDSonic / Leaf definitely.)

My Bloody Valentine - Loveless

http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/3906/My-Bloody-Valentine-Loveless/

(Alright, EVERYONE listen to this. This is probably one of the best albums ever made - it gets old after probably the 1000000000th listen, and get's good after you play the album like 3 times in a row fully. At first you are going to HATE this album sooo much. It is like distorted with some weird singing, but I promise you if you don't like it within the 10 listens you don't have taste in music. I'm pretty sure if you listened to this high, CRAZY things would happen. Jerm, P-4, Sync, Xyro, SMOOM, etc etc listen to this please :( )
