people have been taking forever on responding to me about buddy passes. So if anyone lives extremely far away (like some other country or something?) and wants a flight discount just message me. There are plenty left because everyone is taking forever to get back to me.

Confirming that I got Don and Illmatic's donations.

That puts us at $110 iirc, meaning $190 to go to get the visa.

We then have to see the flight specifics, but it shouldn't be that bad considering I also believe he has help from M2K with a buddy pass. He is applying for his visa or something I think or the eligibility to get it in about a week or two (has a meeting set) so that's a big step there.

also remember of course, if by any chance this falls through, all donations will be refunded

So in the past two weeks Zero only got $10 in donations? That's not looking hopeful...

It turns out I have a bit more money than I realized. If I can get myself on a cheaper loan repayment plan then I'll donate some money to this. I'd like as much international talent as we can get.

Donated $5. Good luck vVv ZeRo.
Gracias Juan Pablo!

do you still only need 100 more to go?
I wish it would be that easy Jason :(.

Here's my post explaining the situation:

One of my friends read the topic, and he didn't understand everything correctly. Instead, I would like to say this:

Attending Apex 2012 has been my dream since the beginning of 2011. However, the money I had to get for my whole work of the year didn't come (Screwed out of money). After explaining this situation to a couple of my friends in SWF, some of them suggested to open this donation fund. I need in total, $2,500 to attend Apex 2012 (Traveling alone, and I'm just 16 years old). The $300 I'm raising are to "start" my papers to be able to leave Chile. With my visa, I can then start getting together things like plane tickets, hotel, food & transportation. But I'm going to see what I'm going to do with that, after I receive my visa authorization. That's why the $300 I'm trying to raise is very important, for a start. For now, I am selling various personal things, and working part-time. And it's in Chile, which means, $1.50 per hour.

Also:

Thank you very much Aisight and King Funk for your donations! :)

Thanks everyone for reading.
I hope you can get the 2500 $, it would be really sad if you cant go to apex.
Siiiiiiii... ojala que pueda ir!! :D

BUT there are people who HAVE donated and that's something I appreciate A LOT :D. Like you :). There's still hope :).

play mid/high stakes poker and win the $1100 in a week?

sounds like a good plan to me

edit: but in all seriousness, i'd donate if i had more monies :(
Hmmm, I mean, I would try it but I can't gamble legally, I have to be 18 Years Old to gamble in Chile and I'm just 16 years old... Now, if you're talking about illegal gambles... Nooooooooo :(. Way too risky/Dumb decision. I would get problems with my Visa/Record which means = No entry to the United States = No Apex 2012.

Well, I appreciate your comment and I hope you get a lot of money somehow so you can donate it to me :).

I don't mean to be rude, but did you really think you'd get $2500? Smashers tend to whine about measly $5 venue fees.

That's not rude, it's a completely valid question :).

Yes, I tought I could get it by doing A LOT of things/works/selling things in 1 year. Unfortunately, some things "didn't even happened/worked out they way I tought they would... :(

i was only semi-joking lol

joking in the way that i didnt expect him to do it

but serious in the way that i know people/have friends that are fully capable of winning $1100 in 1 week

if it's "apex or bust" and if he happened to be good @ poker then by all means i'd say go for it! :awesome:

It's two steps, first he needs to get his Visa, then the flight. The goal in the OP is to get the Visa. There would likely be more after that for the flight, but there is help on the flight from M2K's buddy pass and vVv. Not sure on the exact amount of that yet, but it will certainly not be as much as most international flights.

It really is incredible when you consider how many people have donated in such a short period of time.

Zero's thread isn't the only one, either. There are TONS, with similar results.
Smash community is amazing.

Confirming that I have the donations from Will, Player 1, and $5 from aisight's matched player1 donation

I'll be providing a full detailed update on everything soon
We're basically ready for the visa and then collect money for the flight (which won't be too much) and then zero will be confirmed. once we can get the info from m2k's contact about purchasing the plane ticket with the buddy pass i can update everything properly
