With the love that Sakurai is giving to alternate costumes, like Link's Skyward Sword clothes, I'd love to see some of these added:

Only see a difference in the title font, otherwise it's pretty much the same.
Precisely, they changed the chronicles font to that generic one for no reason. Yes it's a big nitpick, but without the chronicles part looking stylized it looks sort of weird to me. Like: Xenoblade! chronicles.

Guess it doesn't feel like much of an impact difference to me.

I just purchased a copy of Xenoblade Chronicles on eBay as the series, and Shulk in particular, has interested me since I've learned of it. Shulk seems like a very interesting character whose design I love. It's also nice to have a vocal hero for once especially when the bulk of nintendo's protagonists are silent. I'm really looking forward to the game, and I hope to play it and get a better feel for what Shulk would be like in smash. He has my full support as of now.

Huh, my copy looks like the one on the left, but it's the US version.

EDIT: nevermind, I'm stupid, no it doesn't.
I am really curious about why they changed it from the european now.

Actually, i've noticed a really odd difference with the PAL and US versions of Brawl too:

Weird.

Continuing on with how others got their copy, here's my story:

My sister was the first one to know about Operation Rainfall before I did. I knew the campaign's purpose back then, but I never supported it and understood the hype about the three Wii RPGs, so I conveniently ignored them like they weren't relevant.

Going to GameStop to check on some games, I remember seeing the Xenoblade Chronicles boxes lined up on the Wii "Coming Soon" section a few days before its launch, and my sister was excited while I wasn't. A couple of days later, we didn't get a copy since we were occupied with other games, life, and school. After that, we ignored its presence again, not paying attention to the other two RPGs that were coming out later.

It was late in 2012, and the word "Xenoblade" was being used a lot—like literally a lot—to refer to one's favourite RPG this generation across several gaming message boards. Famitsu's readers rank it as the sixth-best Nintendo title of all time. Nintendo Power listed it to be one of the essential Wii games. IGN gave it the best Wii and Wii U game that year. I got to admit, I was kind of getting annoyed, but at the same time, I was being consumed by its praise over time, and like any other, I was curious on what it was all about. I finally looked up some videos and thought it looked pretty "good," like a not-so-impressive-kind-of-good. Whenever I heard the word "Xenoblade," I associated it with the grassy plains of Gaur Plains, just like on the box cover.

Then, I saw a new copy for $50 during Black Friday 2012. I tried to consider Xenoblade as one of my purchases, but my first priority was to take advantage of the "Buy Two Used Games Get One Free" deal at GameStop. The problem here is that Xenoblade was being sold brand new, so that obviously didn't count with the promo. Two of the games I bought were Pikmin and Pikmin 2 because I wanted to play them before playing Pikmin 3. Later on, I was educated by the Internet that it was necessary for me to buy games new so I could support the company. Well, I didn't, unfortunately.

Fast-forward to January 2013, a brand new game by Monolith Soft was announced during a Nintendo Direct, and I was so amazed by it that I kept watching it several times a day. Shortly afterward, the media wrote articles about Xenoblade's rarity and price increase, and that was my tipping point. That game was the reason why I have to buy Xenoblade, and I didn't have the chance because of what was already happening to it.

Finally, I was able to get it when GameStop had coupon deal around August-September 2013, and I took advantage of that deal with Pikmin 3 and Xenoblade. The latter was $70 used that time, and the coupon dropped it down to $55 plus tax. I finally played it, and it became one of the best RPGs I've played. I have to thank Xenoblade X's announcement last January for making me buy the game, even if it was over the MSRP.

So here I am now, a big Xenoblade fan. I'm sure there are other people that were like me about Xenoblade's existence, and I'm really hoping that Shulk's inclusion to Smash can change that. I feel like my job now is to spread the word about the game so Xenoblade X can sell well, and it feels good. Oh, and my biggest lesson learned: Buy games new. :p

Precisely, they changed the chronicles font to that generic one for no reason. Yes it's a big nitpick, but without the chronicles part looking stylized it looks sort of weird to me. Like: Xenoblade! chronicles.
I think Nintendo did the same for Fire Emblem Awakening. The Awakening subtitle was made smaller for North American copies.

My Xenoblade story is a bit boring. :b I had heard a couple of my friends raving about it for a while, and when a forum I'm on had a sale to go with the Steam summer sale in 2012 (1 post = 1 coin, 8000 coins is usually what you pay for a Wii game, but the price was lowered to 3000) I decided to get it over Skyward Sword after much deliberation only because I didn't have a Wii Motion+ at the time. I had really been dying to get Skyward Sword, so I was a little bit worried about Xenoblade, but then my fears were quickly quelled when it turned out to be the greatest game ever.

I'm actually hoping Swimsuit Shulk stays the heck away from Smash. Surely I can't be the only one here?

Well, I certainly don't agree since I'd like Swimsuit Shulk and Swimsuit Chrom. And Swimsuit Rosalina, but whatever.

They should do what Namco did with Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and do a free swimsuit pack for every character, with Shulk and Chrom having the ones from their own game.

Who WOULDN'T want to see Greninja in a swimsuit? wait

I got it after I heard it getting praised nonstop last year on Smash forums and sites by people who wanted Shulk in Smash. I figured "Hey, it's selling for $90 used, right? So if it's crap, I can just sell it on ebay or craigslist. Maybe I'll lose a couple bucks, but it's worth a shot."

It's now in my top 10 favorite games of all time. Probably top 5, even.

I actually started supporting Shulk before playing Xenoblade because my good friend played it, loved it and REALLY wanted Shulk in smash (and still does). So I eventually bought the game myself and currently have 140 hours clocked on my first playthrough. And after that, Shulk is easily my most anticipated newcomer.

Also, on the topic of swimsuit Shulk, I totally agree he needs to have a swimsuit as an alt costume. EVERYONE DOES. That way we can put this whole "What gender is Shiek?" debate to rest.

Also we could see Wario in a speedo and if that doesn't sell the Wii U like hotcakes I dunno what will.

In any case, yeah! Swimsuits for everyone! Even Bowser and Donkey Kong, also give Meta Knight his inner tube from RtDL

Yep. I've always said female, but some people will argue that she used magic to change her gender...
To put it bluntly, the boobs don't lie.

Getting back to Shulk, as amusing as it would be to see Shulk in SSB4 wearing his swimsuit, something tells me Sakurai would get backlash from that. lol

Among zelda fans it is kind of a confusing debate (but not necessarily a bad one). Obviously Zelda is Sheik, but sheik did not know he/she is zelda. The debate is essentially what gender is the persona of shiek, but that discussion is off topic and probably best on its own thread :).

Im more curious about Marths gender...
Marth is male (edit: you've seen the new Link right?)

As for Shulk, I didn't get a chance to acquire Xenoblade (sadly), but he looks like he would fit right in Smash. Should he be included, i'm considering him for my secondary character or main (if mewtwo is not a thing {and Shulk is}).

Haha I know, it was a joke. I actually don't find the new Link to look THAT feminine, but thats why opinions exist right?

My Story with Xenoblade:

I first heard about Xenoblade because of the Operation Rainfall movement. Being curious, I watched clips of the game on YouTube. It looked like something I would get enjoyment out of. I wanted it to be localized in North America, but I didn't get my hopes up because I was aware that Nintendo of America did make some arguably questionable localization decisions last generation.

Later on, I read an article that stated that Reggie "My Body is Ready" Fils-Aime was "watching European sales," so I thought to myself, "OK, me. If this works out, then awesome. If not, then oh well. It is what it is"

One day, I booted up the Nintendo Channel on my Wii, and lo and behold, the first trailer that was listed was for Xenoblade. I literally responded with a one-man equivalent to this reaction (and few games nowadays are capable of making me do this):

Soon before the game was released, I had a hunch that it would be sold in limited quantities, so I bought my copy as soon as possible, and I don't regret my decision one bit. Xenoblade is one the essential Wii exclusives in my opinion, so it was worth paying $50.

I later received The Last Story as gift from family, but I have yet to play Pandora's Tower.

I've wanted both Shulk and The Last Story's Zael to appear in Smash 4, but the latter has a very small chance of joining the roster. He just never came off as a likely candidate.

As of right now, Xenoblade X is one of my most highly anticipated games this generation alongside the new Zelda, Smash 4, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Final Fantasy XV, and Uncharted 4.

Moving away from this discussion of Super Smash Summer Scramble that everyone is talking about...
I have a bit of a long story with Xenoblade and I might as well share it since everyone else is.

I remember hearing about Xenoblade in an issue of Nintendo Power. I vaguely remember it as I only remember them talking about the two titans fighting and how the world of Xenoblade was created from the dead bodies of the titans.
I don't remember if this issue was made in 2012 where it was coming to America or if it was made in 2010 when it was being released in America. Regardless, the screenshots looked amazing; I was surprised that this was a game that was published by Nintendo.

A friend of mine on another website told me about this game and I thought, "That sounds cool! I don't think that I'll get it any time soon though. I'm not a big fan of RPGs."
When Smash 4 speculation was occurring and before I created an account on this website, I always thought Shulk would be a perfect character for Smash, though I didn't know who he was and I called him the "main protagonist from Xenoblade." While I wasn't aware of who Shulk was, I thought that he would fit nicely in Smash and I mainly wanted him because I wanted a brand new series to get represented in Smash.

I kinda supported Shulk. Again, for the main reason of getting a new series to be represented. When I started speculating on here, I wanted to at least get my hands on Xenoblade since I heard nothing but good things about it. So, when I was at my local GameStop, I always stalked around just to see if it was there and it was hard due to the nature of the game.
On December 27, I saw it right before my very eyes... "Xenoblade Chronicles." I thought, "OH MY GOD! This game is rare! I can't believe that I found a copy! I must buy this!" I bought it for $70 and I remember just holding it in my hands like it was the holy grail.

The game and Shulk's character immediately made him skyrocket as my 5th most wanted newcomer. As I got deeper into the game and being encapsulated by the story, characters, music, areas, and battles, he became my second most wanted. When I beat it, he became my most wanted character for Smash 4. Shulk is currently my 3rd favorite video game character of all-time, only behind Luigi at number 1 and Pit at number 2.
Not only do I find him to be a cool character with a freaking cool sword, the Monado (which is now my favorite video game weapon), but I could honestly relate to him and his character. I found him to be likable and his struggles very believable in a personal manner. He wasn't a brute or overcompensating for something like a character such as Cloud Strife, he fights with his brain. He's a smart character who knows the powers of the Monado and his visions and how he could use them effectively. As I was playing through the game, I cheered for Shulk and I felt bad for Shulk. They just made him a very cool, yet very likable character.

Shulk getting in Smash means a lot to me. I hope that Sakurai took care of the Monado's power.
