Since we know X (I'm pretty sure, unless they just wanna make nopon this series' moogle) takes place in the same universe,
But the Earth was destroyed by a war against aliens in X, while in Xenoblade it was destroyed by Zanza restarting the universe.

Now that you mention it an alternate universe looks like it could be the only answer at this point or.
Shulk is somehow Immortal after the ending of Xenoblade Chronicles and X takes place a couple thousand years after the end of Xenoblade Chronicles where the Homs and Nopon and other species have continued to strive after the end of Xenoblade Chronicles.

Unless Shulk recreated the universe as it was before Klaus destroyed it, and therefore Earth came back too... You know, to get destroyed again.

On another note, I just watched Chugga's most recent episode, and I thought Ether could damage Mechon no matter what, which means Thunder Bullet could hit them. I could've sworn that's how it worked, because I don't remember ever having any trouble with Melia.

Alright. What I'm thinking:

Well, obviously I have no idea of the specifics, but I think that the Mechon with faces are actually Homs that were somehow converted into Mechon. Perhaps they don't actually eat the Homs (because honestly why would robots eat?), but rather convert them into more advanced Mechon. Also, ol' Metal Face with the claws is so obviously Dunban's friend with the claw weapons from the game's opening Battle of Sword Valley sequence that it almost hurts.

A further observation is that talking Mechon sound stupid.
I will neither confirm nor deny your prediction, but I will tell you that the secret of the faced mechons is not the only nor the biggest reveal in the game, and that it is a plot point that is wrapped up before the half way point.

If you trust the guys at the Treehouse, Xenoblade X is only a spiritual successor to Xenoblade. I was pretty disappointed when I first heard that, but I got over it pretty quickly. How did I do so, you ask?

You know how X has the silent and customizable protagonist? I plan to make him look like Shulk. I'm just going to pretend that X takes place in some strange alternate timeline where Shulk falls off of the Bionis, loses the Monado, becomes mute, and washes up where all of the action is about to take place.

...what? I'm definitely not crazy! ...and I'm definitely not a Zelda Timeline Enthusiast, either!

They did say it had elements from it as well so that could mean anything honestly.

I imagine they want any connections between the universes to remain hidden, so no, I don't trust them.

Someone in the "users viewing thread list" is probably from the treehouse and is probably laughing at our speculation right now.

It's basically no different from installments from Final Fantasy or Tales.

Despite being part of the same series, there won't be a continuation of storylines, unless explicitly stated like say Final Fantasy X-2 being a sequel to Final Fantasy X. TvTropes refers to as a Thematic Series, a type of series that shares the same name and themes, but don't have a continuing story. Like, Tales of Symphonia and Tales of The Abyss are part of the same series, however they don't share the same plot or characters.

Guys, we know we can customize the specials and the equipment. We know each type of Mii have 12 possible sets and the equipment changes his appearance. We know Palutena have 12 possible set. The customization of the appearance of the characters are a mark in Xenoblade's series. Now I ask: You guys think Shulk could have changes in appearance with the use of custom equipment? Makes sense to me.

OC Do not steal.
<--- Is sad that the Lemonado itself isn't pink or yellow.

Otherwise, I hope some kind of miraculous...stuff...happens, and we get that as a color swap. My god.

I would have recolored it too, but I just know they won't change the color of the Monado in alts, so I didn't bother either.

They changed the color of the Hylian shield for Link y'know?
But then again they didn't change the color of the Master Sword.

Yeah...it's kind of a shame, because being able to see different colors of the Monado would be cool. Come to think of it, do other games change the weapon color with palette swaps? Does Ragna's sword change color in Blazblue? Because I'm pretty sure it does.

Wow, that image sure is Sheyn-y :awesome:
dammit I've been watching too many of Chugga's videos recently.
The best part is that I actually named him Sheyn in my head! (original I kno)

Decided to search up Shulk on Google Trends.
Shulk is the blue graph. Shulk Smash Bros. is the red one.

I assume the blue spike at June 2013 was due to the second X trailer at E3.

Searches for both graphs spike a bit around April. I think that's when the Gematsu leak updated with Shulk and Chorus Men.

So wait, nobody at all considered Shulk for Smash before 2013?
I did. :3
It's also interesting that there was a random spike for Shulk back in 2007, I wonder why that was.
Dunno. Maybe "Shulk" was seen as a shortened form of "she-hulk"?
I doubt Xenoblade was starting production way back then. Maybe in 2008 or 2009 instead. It was released in Japan sometime in 2010.

So, do you think Shulk will be starter, or hidden? I can see it going either way unless he's revealed during the August Direct.

I'm not quite sure tbh. If he's revealed and a starter, Shulk will become well known sooner. We'll all die of hype. But if he's hidden...we'll definitely have something to look forward to if the trailer is good enough.

I'm hoping someone not on the Sal leak gets revealed in August Direct so everyone can get back in the speculating mood again even if its just or a few days.
But I think he should be hidden just because hes got quite the following.

The Mechonis Core event really gets to me. So many deaths...Poor Meyneth.
That entire scene is one of the best plot twists in gaming. Can't wait to reexperience it in a month lol. Also, I feel so bad for Melia when she asks if Fiora is someone important to Shulk after Prison Island. Even by the end of the game she's pretty much alone. I've been more of a TeamMelia guy, but in this run I've been more sentimental towards Fiora for some reason.

A palette swap I hope to see in game is white clothing with gold trims and lines around, and slightly darker/browner hair. I'm actually trying to make that one in Photoshop at the moment.

Yes, I know it has the potential to be spoiler heavy, but people who don't know about the plot or have watched/played through it won't think much of the colors.

I just really hope he has one with a pink vest. I'm glad Greninja got a pink color, and I really hope Shulk does too. Pink is best color.

Okay, so I played Xenoblade a little.

Initial thoughts:
- The control scheme takes a while getting used to.
- I really like the huge overworld.
- So many side quests! I can already see how long it'll take to beat the game.
- The music is amazing.

I think Shulk will grow on me eventually.

Regarding Shulk alt colors...
If they choose to use the Monado Replicas for Shulk, they could have all six of them be used for each alt custom. The alt customs themselves hopefully will be some of the various armor Shulk can get throughout the game. I stated this a while back, but Shulk using the Monado I/II would feel rather wrong for those who actually know the sword's backstory, so having Shulk use the untainted six Replicas wouldn't be a bad thing. Using said Replicas wouldn't really spoil the plot (people will just assume they're customizable upgrades).

I basically lack any semblence of self-control, haha, and even now that I'm actually playing the game, I know more than I should, because I can't resist opening every and all spoiler tags in this thread.

I really am enjoying the game so far, though, as I don't really care about spoilers because they don't affect my enjoyment of a game (in most cases I spoil myself because I know I will never get to play it or at least won't be able to for a considerable amount of time). Currently in the caves heading towards Colony 6. I kinda figured out some things and/or made some guesses that seem obvious, such as

Metal Face being Dunban's friend-dude in the prologue; I mean, it's already incredibly obvious just seeing the claws, and even if I forgot that I already spoiled myself on it and am aware anyways, I don't think it would take that much to make the connection. Also when it was mentioned that the Mechons were eating people, my mind immediately jumped to "they're not "eating" people, but are using them to make more Mechons!" Of course, until I read the spoilers above on this page I had no idea whether that was true or not, haha.

I did not see

Fiora's death by metal Face claw impalement

coming, though, and seemed to manage to avoid having it spoiled until like a few hours before I reached that point.

I know she's not dead, though. Because of spoilers, haha.

Perty good.
Her is mine:

Okay, this is the first thing I've legitimately chuckled at out loud in a little bit. Haha, that's amazing.

I love the use of spoiler tags in this thread, really considerate for us who don't know (and don't want to get spoiled just yet) about the happenings of the game. I'll get on the same page in that regard eventually haha! Though I guess that better happen before Smash, because Sakurai will probably not be afraid to spoil spoil spoil...

If you're afraid he's gonna spoil everything (spoiler alert: he's gonna spoil everything), then you've got two months to make them not spoilers anymore, haha.
