This guy on Wikipedia claims to have the first three tiers. If this guy is lying, then it's a well researched lie. The sets are posted below:

Tier 1: The Garage
  • "Orange Crush"--R.E.M.

Tier 2: The First Gig
  • "Rebel Yell"--Billy Idol
  • ENCORE: "Light my Fire"--The Doors

Tier 3: The Opening Act
  • One Armed Scissor"--At the Drive-In
If Billy Idol, The Doors, At The Drive-In, and R.E.M. are really in, this won't be as bad as I thought. Still too much confirmed I don't like to justify a purchase, though.

Ouch. Konami is suing Harmonix and Viacom for copyright infringement for using band instruments in a game. The patent was filed in 2002/2003. Chances are once Guitar Hero World Tour gets a lot more publicity Konami will be going after them. Now, the problem is this is Konami attempting to get a monopoly on the music genre.

It'll be REALLY interesting to see how this goes.

Allegedly, Activision pays royalties to Konami to use the guitar. Now, no clue if they will do the same with World Tour. Great timing by Konami when Rock Band 2 is going to be HUGE, and there is now a hugely competitive market for the music game genre. Oh yeah, it's because Konami is bringing Rock Revolution over as well and wants to dilute the competition.

"Rebel Yell" has been confirmed in an IGN preview; Fearless records claim that "One Armed Scissors" is in the game; A supposed suvey claims that the Doors will be be in; But no news on R.E.M.

Sounds good. Man, I'm really looking forward to for more information on the game. Seems like there's been a big drought lately. Is Activision going to be at E3?

I've got some good news and bad news:

Good:
  • R.E.M. download pack
  • Van Halen and The Eagles are GH exclusive
  • Metallica album availible for download

Bad:
  • AC/DC is exclusive to Rock Band

I honestly don't give a crap about AC/DC. But i'll more than likely have both games (roommate has RB, and we have two guitars so we can just buy the discs for both games and drums + mic for GHWT).

Thank God. I cannot stand the Eagles. Van Halen really isn't great either other than Eddie and they won't put Eruption in. But, I don't get why AC/DC is exclusive. Oh well...

Um, did you read right? I said that The Eagles and Van Halen are exclusive to Guitar Hero.

BTW, new gameplay. Other than the actual detail of the screen, nothing new; Just gameplay of "Everlong" and "Rebel Yell".

Being from California, I used to be able to stand the Eagles. Then I heard their cover of Tom Waits' "Ol' 55." :urg: Joe Walsh guitar work on "Hotel California" is pretty decent for soft/country rock.

I'd rather have At The Drive-In and R.E.M. than AC/DC in Rock Band.

Yeah, the video was taken down yesterday. Also, "Everlong" was confirmed a little while back, alongside "Santeria" and "Rebel Yell".

Pardon the double post, but I just wanted to give a heads-up that Activision will have a press conference tonight on G4 at 11:45 Eastern Time.

New info from Kotaku's live postings on the press conference:

85 master tracks on disc.
Travis Barker and Haley Williams are playable characters.
Paramore will have a song in game.
Hot for Teacher was apparently played at the conference.
Metallica's new album available at launch as DLC.
Some more talk of Song, Rockstar, and Instrument creators.
Battle of the bands online, 4 v 4 online and any combination of local and remote play.

Oh and this interesting thing from the posts...
"there a port that allows players to play the game with any drum kit or beat box via a mini-in jack"

Didn't hear word yet on the whole setlist though >_< but the game's looking pretty awesome.

It's cute how they made sure there was one more track on disc than Rock Band.

I was on the fence whether I was going to get it.

I just saw Gameplay Footage.

The Game to me looks horrid, I'm sticking with Rock Band.

I'm pretty sure the 85 track thing was known before RB2 was even announced (definitely before the 84 tracks was announced)>_> I just listed that as well since it was reiterated tonight.

Rock Band has 104 tracks. 84 on the disc + 20 free DLC songs the day it comes out. The PS3/Wii version might be getting these songs on the disc though, but the 360 will have them as DLC due to time limitations to get it for the timed exclusive on 360.

"Hot for the Teacher" - have fun whoever plays drums on that beast.

With Rock Band, all you had to do was get a midi-keyboard pedal and a headphone splitter, then you'd have double bass pedals. I can't see this one being different.

^ True, but that way you could only register the second bass hit if your foot was entirely lifted up off the pedal you used for the first hit- which is fine for me, because I don't keep my foot down imbetween notes, but I know most people do.

It was confirmed that GHWT will have a second bass drum. It's purchased seperately.

Holy crap it's so simple. I definitely need to set this thing up.

EDIT: I'm assuming instead of a keyboard thing you could just get a bass from RB (assuming you were playing GHWT).

Yeah, it's just a midi-drumset. All you need is the splitter and it'll split the information that it's sent.

I'm gonna move Jimi Hendrix into the confirmed. If you pause at about 2:26 in the "Custom Finish" video, you may catch Jimi Hendrix's name in a list of highways. It's hard to make out, but it's there.

Did you not read that article? There is no confirmation for PS3 or Wii yet, both of which I own. If it does work, I'll definitely rent this one.

So yeah, is it just me, or is the Music Studio in this game probably the coolest thing ever? At least the Wii version is (for the most part) not nerfed on most of the features, because I'm loving the prospect of the song creator they demoed.

Best feature ever. On top of that, you can program your own setlists, so write a good 10-15 songs, and maybe throw in a few real songs as "covers", and you've got yourself a concert.

I wonder if you'll be able to play your custom songs in campaign mode.

Correction: When you get the game, you can upload up to five songs; If your songs get good enough ratings, you can have up to ten.

And am I the only one surprised to see Jimi Hendrix as a playable character? I mean, his songs are amongst the best, but he's been dead since 1970!

I thought it was that you could only UPLOAD five songs to the GH Tunes server, and good ratings get you more.

It'd be kinda stupid for them to limit how many songs you can create period.

And yeah, Hendrix as a PC would be pretty awesome...out there, but amazing...

I'm stuck between GH:WT and Rock Band 2, but I think I might get GH:WT because I really like the new guitar features (which is all I'll be playing) and the create a song thing. Also, I like the timing of notes better in Guitar Hero 3 better then RB (which I assume GH3 will have the same timing as GH:WT), it makes solos funner and you don't have to be perfect all the time. I prefer intense solo over accuracy :/.

The create song thing has so much replayability, holy ****. And then downloading others songs, awsome. Activision got it right.
