Everyone who entered at Havoc also attended other dual-event tournaments and only choose to enter when/if it was free. Including 1 of the people who tied for first lol. When they think they can win money, they enter.
Nice shots in the dark, but the reality is that almost everyone that entered were melee enthusiasts, and were from hamilton, ottawa, or were Zen's crew. I think a few randoms from toronto may have been there. The point being that they all would have stayed in the tournament regardless of if there had been more top players there, infact that probably would have made them more excited.
As for myself, I was going to enter regardless of who showed up, and also I didn't tie for first. I wanted to split the money with Josh because he drove me, but I certainly won those two 3/5 sets we did and took first place.

I guess some things never change, Mike is undieingly a pompous *******
Somewhere in the future I can see old Mike argueing and pissing off the rest of the people at his nursing home.

Learn 2 sandbag on the right moments.. =P
We do. They still lose. By a lot.

I doubt that people would have entered Melee. Often our Melee enthusiasts wind up being flops who don't want to pay entry fee because they'll lose (this happens frequently), so we make the tournament free. Spending money for food, travel, and burning a day purely for the sake of visiting people (because, really, the outside competition was pretty much non-existent for the top people), while the cool thing to do, isn't very economical and a bunch of us are broke.

There's no way to prove or disprove whether or not I'm right on this, because it simply devolves into their word versus my own. However, there has been some consistency in this (the past 2 Melee tournaments). I have no reason to believe this would be any different, even if people did come out of town (because out-of-towners were at the past two events).

Obviously we'll never know, and I suppose the benefit of the doubt is earned on the next event if we decide we want to go, but from our perspective... there really wasn't a point in going.

Fair enough, I can see what you're saying. Infact, its what happened at t10 when me and Bernard friendlied people on the first day.
Funny enough though is that the logistics of the situation would have beaten the odds. As people had to pay venue fee+ entrance (to their events) upon entering the venue, so there literally would be no turning back for the noobs in this case.

I didn't know people could be so bad at Ocarina. That game virtually plays itself. All you have to do is sit back and watch the awesome story unfold.

Don't forget to hit A and the C buttons periodically.

edit: If anyone wants to sexify their avatar let me know. I'm bored.

People who are coming over tomorrow...

I don't know if I can house you. If I do / can, you have to leave when I do in the morning or earlier because I have work Wednesday.

Just an FYI.

As I've said months ago, I won't be driving to any more OOS/C tournaments this summer. Unless you expect people to be as obsessed as you to spend all their money, be piss broke and travel that far to play a god ****ed video game all the time, how do you figure that some poor high school students and freshmen could get around that often without a solid driver? Get at me.

That local tournament is being hosted by Tameka. To represent her love of the GTA smash scene and the extended area (EVEN QUEBEC TOO), she's been wanting to host something for us for ages. She already gave the down payment on the venue months ago and was only offered limited weekends in August to work with. It conflicted with T10 and Havoc in The Hammer so she moved it to the 22nd, there were no other choices. Now kindly step off with this BS.

Edit: No, I am not angry with you. I'm just annoyed with how little understanding of the GTA smash scene's current situation you have and how you've been acting recently in lieu of that. The world does not work the way you envision it to, it's time for you to grow up and realize that.

hey guys...jiggs boards are wondering if/how you can get out of that thing peach's do to punish missed rests: throw turnip, charge upsmash. most people are saying "yeah, you can probably DI or SDI that or something" but we don't have anyone who's sure about what works.

try holding down

turnips are weak

if you can ground yourself from like sheik's dair to like 40 you can probably just cc the turnip

i'm pretty sure the dual d-smash at low percent is better, d-smash --> descending turnip --> another d-smash hit it's like 40%

and high percent idk if it works legit but f-throw --> descending turnip --> nair / uair seems better because you time the turnip to hit just as you release from throw so they can't di it much at all and then ko with uair if they fail or add more damage with nair and possibly kill

tameka is hosting the tourney. She can't move the date again, because it was originally on the date of T10. She spent a lot on the venue + no ride to boston + at least $60 short to take a bus.

And lol, i already said you could cc the turnip O_o .
Not to mention that the idea is relying you get an appropriate turnip in a timely matter.
Because if its a dot eye, it'll hit them farther, if its a stitch, jiggs will prolly just die.

=/

each turnips have different knock back and dmg.

Sorry I realize I'm coming in late on this...

But for what it's worth, one of those 2 tourneys I was at and entered Melee. I knew you guys were there, I knew I would get ***** hard by you and everyone else too. Yet I paid the $10 Melee entrance fee and did so gladly. When Melee flopped and it was announced that it would be free Jarred just gave me the $10 back. I realize not everyone would be as enthusiastic as I was to get *****, but Nate has a point that out-of-towners aren't going to covet their $10 entry fee when they're already spending probably another $20-$60 on a combination of gas, food, and other tournament entry fees anyway.
