i was kind of looking for general strategies as opposed to "which heroes are op in this patch"
but i've identified a few things i can do
i think my problem is that i play passive early game and destroy late game
when it's actually better to be aggressive early game even at the cost of a dominant late game
in arranged teams a powerful late game is more useful, but in solo queue early game means everything

This is actually very correct. The quicker you assert dominance in your lane and go help other lanes, the easier it is to win. And if your teammates see you doing well they follow/listen to you.
You can't be going for late game as a ranged carry or whatever unless you have a late game tanker or something along those lines.
Early game is pretty much everything in solo queue.

Isn't the point of early aggression to deny last hits, which is basically the same as ensuring you have a superior late game?
You're talking coordinated play.

having lategame champions like nasus irelia kogmaw vayne annie etc.
certain champions do more or scale better with a given amount of gold, so they will naturally start to dominate once they reach a certain amount of gold
so if you don't come out on top early, concentrate of farming up and don't let the opposing team gain too much of an advantage via map objectives w/e
pretty much just stall and look for opportunities to farm/get back into the game

DMG - It's 2011. I think it's pretty safe to call Sion a caster now. A caster with a Lifesteal + Attack Spd Ult. <_<

I know molten shield can become pretty lulzy very late into the game, but besides that mages like Malzahar and Anivia generally take the late game cake.

well i'm not too sure about anivia but annie scales into lategame better than casters like brand or sion. I probably should have listed karthus instead.
Sion gains potentially infinite health the longer the game goes on... so that wasn't the best example to choose.

Though, I think sustained damage and CC is more important late-game, so I think I'd give it to Anivia or Annie since they have low(er) cooldowns.

I rated anivia highly because a level 5 wall + her ult are god tier zoning tools (as in, I don't think there is a character that is better in the game at sieging and holding bases / fighting points / etc than anivia), two 1:1 AP ratio nukes is especially powerful too.
Sion scales health infinitely, but many top picks today involve scaling against health.

Someone help me here. I am destroying mid as LB but the rest of my team gets their turrets pushed and eventually taken out. Then the other team split pushes, my teammates die to fed Talon/Trynd, then it's GG.
I try to gank early and often, and by late game I'm still able to 2-shot people. What else can I possibly do?

i played a few games today as lb (cuz i want to dominate early game, remember?)
i can't tell you how to carry because i don't know myself. but my build is deathcap/dfg/lich bane/sorcs/abyssal
lb is reliant on having a good tank to initiate on the enemy team so you can get to their dps and explode them.

do ur team a favor and don't pick 2nd worst character in the game ROFL
leblanc can get 14 stacks on mejais and still be a non-threat mid-late game

if u want to do more than just **** mid and suck later on, you have to gank top and bot pretty hard so that you make sure they win their lanes hard enough so your eventual not being useful at all won't matter

Her ap ratios are bleh, you're better off playing kassadin who plays the same role but with alot more mobility and way better ratios.

That's the problem with Leblanc. Even though she can pretty much just nuke people to death all game, she still can't carry. She really needs a good team around her to keep her useful.
Something to do with the typical disorganization of teamfights in solo queue and a heavy lack of sustained damage.

Just yesterday, I went mid as Nidalee against LeBlanc (no one else could mid -_-) and I had to B, like, every 10 seconds, but I never fed her a kill. When a couple random skirmishes and teamfights came around though, she got fed out the wazoo. There was a point where I just wanted to surrender. LeBlanc was fed and her team was getting assist-fed and their Skarner was farmed like crazy, but the Nasus on my team said, "No matter what we do, we can not surrender. It's what she wants." Sure enough, after so many deaths, we finally started winning teamfights and the game.
Nasus players never ever ever EVER press 'yes' on the surrender vote.
Unless its a mother ****ing 20k gold vayne or kog or some ****.

They had a Nasus too though. The worst part was our Nasus was duo top with no strong harass teammate and their Nasus was solo top.
