It's not over for Banjo. Until the Nintendo Direct is finished, I'm not calling it over for his chances just yet. Sakurai did say the next character would be revealed at the Nintendo Direct, so Banjo was unlikely to show up at the MS conference if the rumors were true.

Indeed. Wario Land truly embodies Wario as a character, crazy and weird, but still a thought Greedy Treasure Hunter willing to do anything for some valuable stuff. Not the WarioWare Wario who is just some smelly lazy guy who was practically shoehorned into the series because they needed a recognazible Nintendo character to sell the game.

I love the WarioWare games, but the worst thing about it is well..........Wario himself. It's like if you put Waluigi as Rhythm Heaven's Main Character.
I have nothing against Ware at all, but those games aren't really my thing. It's just that it's because of Ware and the Mario spinoffs that the majority sees him as "le funny fart man" who's lame and shouts "WAH" all the time.

Smash is seriously lacking in Wario Land content. All it has is Wario's dash attack, a rip that is only there because they didn't want to make it look like Wario's victory theme is original, and some spirits. That's it. It needs much more representation than that.

Give the series a stage, a lot more music tracks (because let's be honest, there's tons of WL songs that can be in Smash) and remix them, more spirits (or trophies depending on what they want to go with next Smash) and throw in some stuff from Master of Disguise and Wario World.

I know I said I'd stop posting here, but I bring my condolences for what happened to PolarPanda PolarPanda . A ton of leakers, and she of all people had to be the one to get caught. :(

On the topic of Wario, he's always been characterised as a wacky, smelly dude in Japan's Mario side material (particularly manga), so apparently Wario Ware isn't far off in that regard.

I know everyone is obsessed with trying to find 'rules' to the way Sakurai's mind works but this right here is an Everest sized stretch

He's never had the opportunity to contradict himself during the same game. Smash 4 DLC was done when he said Ridley was unfeasible and Brawl didn't have DLC. I have no idea what point you're trying to make here
Most people act like he's a fictional character that's going out of character when he changes his mind about something between games. That, and his vague quotes being taken as absolutes.

While I don't doubt Erdrick was requested, I always got the feeling that there was other DQ character more wanted than him pre leaks.
I'd have to peg Madason for that. I think he's got a lot more worldwide appeal. He's recognized in the West and a big deal in the East, even if not as much as Erdrick for the latter. Eight is more of a Western DQ pick, whereas Erdrick is a more Eastern pick. Madason feels like a happy medium.
Jessica's a hot topic too, for similar reasons as Eight, plus the general appeal of DQ's secondary characters.

Also, wasn't it posted on this board before that even the Japanese are confused about Erdrick being likely?

Theres a huge difference between picking your nose every now and then and farting 24/7. Wario being a bit gross was a small trait that only existed in some artwork, "Wario"ware took that small trait and stretched it out to ridiculous proportions.

And the Super Mario Kun has Mario swearing but we dont see Mario swearing all the time in the games.

It's said that she got caught. She's all over the Nintendo news feed now. With all of the stuff she got right and that she had an insider source, I find it extremely hard to believe that people still think she's a fraud. I heard they doxxed her too, so she probably won't be releasing any more information on anything at all. Not just Nintendo information.

Macho Wario is WAY better than how Wario is largely portrayed now. Sure, he was kinda like that in his early days in Japan, but I love Macho Wario much more. Seeing all the abilities and accomplished feats he has under his belt in his games, I'd say he is the real strongest Nintendo character. And yes, I'm convinced he's stronger than Kirby.

Sabi's actions today we're really out of character... She was literally leaking entire conferences on her fan Discord that has hundreds of members. I don't get it. She's been pretty careful up until today.
She kept a lot of details from the public still. The main issue, imo, was telling everyone so far ahead that she would leak Nintendo's presentation.

It's still a shame. She was a really pleasent person to talk to during the speculation cycle for Ultimate.

Ok, boys and girls, aside from her supporting Banjo as the next DLC, did Sabi leak anything else Nintendo related before they gave her the gag order? If she did say Banjo, and they silenced her, then there is a pretty freaking good chance that he's a lock at this point. Nintendo's ninjas on the attack are usually the strongest indication of who's closest to the truth.

lol "Nintendo's Ninjas". I could just see it now. Sabi comes home to a lawyer sitting at her dinner table flanked by a couple of ninjas. They're wearing all black except for the bright red Nintendo logo on their chests and a shiny metal 1-Up mushroom symbol on their forehead protectors.

"Well, well, well, Polar Panda. It's time for you to make a choice. Cease and desist or we'll have to put you on ice."

One of the ninjas throws down a smoke bomb, shrouding the room in a thick cloud. As it begins to dissipate, Sabi sees the words "Nin-tendo is watching" scrawled in blood across the far wall...

She really is a pleasant person to talk to

She isn't dead guys.
She will still leak non-Nintendo stuff.

This has nothing to do with Smash per se. It was more that she was telling the universe almost two weeks before E3 that she would leak the Direct. Nintendo didn't want to risk having their surprises leaked at all.

Yikes, come back to no banjo at MS's E3 making banjo fans go in panic mode (from what I hear) and Sabi getting nintendo ninja'd.

Well, there have been some nice announcements at E3 so far atleast.

I didn't really expect anything Nintendo coming out of Xbox Conference. Its their time. They dont need Nintendo stealing the show.
If Banjo and Kazooie are in (which i hope along side Geno) then it will be unveiled in Nintendo's E3 not Xbox. Its their game remember. Patience people in 25 hours we shall know some fates.

But wasn't she one of the leakers claiming that Banjo was in? She must have been on to something for Nintendo to take her so seriously.

Sabi wasn't 100% on Banjo but leaned toward it based on some of her sources, excluding her main one. Her main one has repeated that they genuinely don't know what will be shown Smash wise and been mostly neutral on who could show up.

Maybe it was Banjo, or maybe it was that she leaked Microsoft and Bethesda's entire conferences. I think the latter, at least, is guaranteed to give Nintendo the willies.

She didn't claim anything.
An Ambassador sent her images that suggested that and other leakers already implying he was in. But she never came out specifically going 100% it's Banjo
Also, think just for a bit. If Banjo was a problem, they would have destroyed Shinobi by now. And they wouldn't have threatened her for further leaks.
Again, not saying Banjo isn't real. On the contrary. I think he is 100% the DLC 2. But the main concern was for the whole direct, not Smash.

Fair enough. When someone drops two entire conferences verbatim, I guess that's too solid a risk to let slide.

Before I leave Smashboards, I just want to say thank you to all of the Geno supporters who were around to discuss the character's chances in-depth during Smash 4 DLC and Ultimate base game speculation.

EricTheGamerman EricTheGamerman , kiteinthesky kiteinthesky , PsychoIncarnate PsychoIncarnate , and Fatmanonice Fatmanonice gave me hope back then that Geno had a strong chance. It was a great time hanging out with you guys over the years.

Although my hope for Geno in Smash is bare now and my want for Geno has waned completely, I do hope Square Enix starts a new SMRPG sequel when their relationship with Nintendo grows stronger as ports of Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest games keep going.

It's still so depressing how Geno looked like he had everything going for him, and now his chances are ridiculously slim. Like, if there didn't seem to be much hope for him from jump, that would have been easier to swallow, but it really looked like it was his time. Ughhhh.

Hey, that said, see ya on the flip side, and best wishes wherever you go!

Smash Ultimate is most likely not the last game in the series.
With a character being this persistently popular, I think if not now, he will definitely get a very good chance in the next one. Him and Isaac are basically the only insanely popular characters in the Smash community that are left to enter.
Don't feel down, please

I agree. Banjo would be one of the biggest never-evers in the history of the Smash fandom and that's on top of the nearly half dozen that this game introduced.

It was irresponsible of someone to post this in the Banjo thread and irresponsible for me to post it here but whatever lol It’s 99% likely not a real leak but nice to see someone thinks our boy still sounds legit.

C'mon, people, don't throw in the towel just yet. We still have 4 more DLC to be confirmed, and even then, the smash gods just might smile down on us and bless us with yet even more DLC. Until the DLC is declared over and/or we see a Geno Mii costume get dropped, it's anyone's game. Now is the time to load up Star Hill with some mother freaking wishes!

It's sad that the state of the Geno is so bad that we're looking at obviously fake leaks as we scramble for a shred of hope.

Whenever I see some random guy "leaking" stuff online, I immediately disregard it, until someone credible backs them up or the leaker provides proof of leaking stuff in the past, which it seems like this guy has not done
Someone did mention that this leak did line up with CoH so that is something to keep in mind. I'm just keeping fingers crossed that this is the case. Doesn't seem too reasonable or obvious fake like 'MP4 will play like Uncharted'

I'd so desperately want to believe this... but Madden NFL 20 of all things destroys any hope of this being real. EA's a piece of **** company who is barely willing to support Fifa on Switch and basically will not invest any money into the platform. I'd be SHOCKED to see them do anything with their big sports franchises on Switch beyond the Fifa they specifically tailored for the platform. I'm also still wondering if Metroid Prime Trilogy HD even exists based upon the number of times we've supposedly heard about it in the past year and Nintendo hasn't done much with remakes outside of Zelda in recent memory. Unknown third party games also stands out as super suspicious, like why even mention them if you don't know anything? If you were a real leaker everything detailed in this post would speak for itself.

Also, I know people around here talk about how uninspired they found Dragon Quest sometimes, but Bravely Default definitely takes the cake as the most uninspired Square RPG in my book (also in large part due to the fact the game well overstays its welcome), with only the likes of I Am Setsuna and Lost Sphere being more uninspired. I know some people love it, but damn, that'd feel a little weird for the series getting that much attention still after it felt like Bravely Second didn't do so hot.

To be fair, we wouldn't be scraping this hard if Nintendo would throw us a freaking bone more often than every 2-3 months at a time. To this day, I still think it's beyond idiotic not to announce up front what is in the fighter's pass. I mean, I know it's more hype in the short run to get the individual reveal trailers, but from a consumer's stand point, it's absurd for someone to try and sell something without saying what's inside. "Here, buy this car under the tarp. I promise it looks cool and drives great...and you'll probably like the color that you had no choice in picking."

Honestly, I'd be just as hyped to know up front if Geno gets in, and then we get a showcase trailer just before release. I know some other people would disagree, but look at Joker as an example. They gave him a teaser trailer when the game released that was hype as hell, then after 3 months gave us the in-depth gameplay video etc. and I was just as hyped then as I was at his announcement. The whole "surprise" factor is well and good, and we could have still had that with an ensemble teaser at the beginning, but had Nintendo just been transparent with everything, then we could have simply cut our losses if need be and moved on instead of chasing our tails for the better part of a year.

I don't see any reason why Madden wouldn't come to Switch even if it is inferior. It seems newsworthy for Nintendo as well if they managed to get Madden to release on the same day as the other platforms. So far it isn't confirmed but would be a huge deal if that was the case.

Again, it’s the point of EA being one of the worst companies in existences and they have absolutely not supported Nintendo well in years. They haven’t seemed interested in the market of Nintendo owners for some time. And they do not like to spend money to even work on ports to the Switch, hence why we haven’t seen NHL or Madden on the system despite legacy editions existing for some time of the series. I mean, it’s not impossible, but after watching EA the past couple of years, I’d be completely shocked to see them decide to put anything resembling real effort into Switch ports.

Also, as an aside, **** American football and Madden, it’s so dreadfully boring and I’d much prefer we got NHL if we have to take another EA Sports game.

And god I miss the days of fun sports games like NBA Street and NBA Jam...
