Yeah, the bandwagoners or "fans" are a reason why my opinion on Erdrick has soured greatly. I imagine there are good Erdrick fans out there, but at the same time, I don't want those jackasses to get away with harassment or shooting other people's character wants down.

Don't think of it that way. Those people don't give a **** about Erdrick or Steve or whomever. They'd bandwagon on to Geno if he was looking likely just as most have seemingly done for Banjo Kazooie in the last week. The only thing they "get away with" is being a smug asshole for a couple of days and slightly more grounds to shoot down other character picks. They win a personal satisfaction of being correct and ****ty and just move to the next fad or way to be an asshole in the community. They're the most hollow and shallow of people and they aren't worth any of our time in the least bit and if it makes you feel better, they probably aren't really all that happy either. You let them win by acknowledging them and getting frustrating with them. You can either ignore them or try to educate them on things, but anything else just isn't the worth the mental energy.

Erdrick getting in isn't some victory for them beyond some bull**** bragging rights they'll forget about in a week. It's a victory for the legitimate fans of Erdrick and Dragon Quest, and I'm not about to throw away those lovely real supporters and fans just because a contingent of idiots want to make everyone else's life miserable.

Okay, so I found out that this year's E3 Nintendo Direct will be on Tuesday at noon eastern time, and I work in the evening that day, so that means I get to watch it :D

So Verge is definitely backpedaling a bit. He went from he's in 100% to "currently have no reason to believe he isn't". Also the reason he "knows" it's Erdrick is because "info got out to others pinpointing it was Erdrick".



He can be right about E3 stuff and wrong about Erdrick though. They're very likely not coming from all of the same sources. And also note how horribly he screwed up Nintendo stuff during the Direct.

Well, this is the first time Verge has spoken about knowing it was Erdrick since he locked down more on Dragon Quest months ago, right? I thought he had spoken of having more concrete stuff pointing to Erdrick, but here it just sounds as vague as ever with Vergeben's usual posting BS of not being able/being unwilling to elaborate as to why he's making those decisions. Say what you will about Tansut and if he's believable, but he at least outlined what led him to backing Erdrick as opposed to this unhelpful bit of information. Verge has always been real bad about that.

That said, I'm not going to fault him too much on the order of things not being known and possibly messing that up. If he was fed Square Enix information early on and knew nothing else about DLC, I think it's pretty natural to assume that it would be first since it's the known information circulating around the "leaking" community.

But his comments do call Erdrick more into question than in a while of his commentary on Smash DLC. That said, "He's in" to "I currently have no reason to believe he isn't" aren't that different of statements, so he still sounds confident to me. Whether or not his information is actually correct remains to be seen and decides how seriously we're going to take him with DLC.

So Verge leaked some stuff that ended up being correct, as well as some stuff that we do not yet know (Perfect Dark, for instance). Looking better for Erdrick and worse for us.

At 1:00 I'll try to sit on the ****ter for my 15 minute break and catch up on as much as I can.

All I remember is that last year for my one o'clock break I went into the parking lot chanting "Ridley! Ridley!" to myself and we all know how that went; even though Sakurai disgraced his name thousands of times, I never lost hope.

And yeah, even if my experience with the DQ fandom is good... each fandom has some negative portions.

The ideal thing would be to have respect between each one of us, more so as someone who would be cool with anyone to get in.

We just need the Wario Land demand to become bigger and louder and maybe they'll notice.

Yeah, for real. I was really nervous and pessimistic as a knee jerk, but it means nothing about Shinobi's leaks. C'mon, Genobros and Genosisters! We're in the same league as Banjo and Kazooie, and we've gotta support them!

Yup.

Even if I liked some of the stuff shown (like the LEGO content, Battletoads, Tales, Phantasy Star Online 2 or Halo Infinite), I was dissapointed with the lack of a new Banjo game.

I think that the thread should get some love.

I think Master Chief is the biggest character left they could get... imagine an Elite being his alternate.

I'm literally in the same boat as you, but that would be a selection that could hypothetically please everyone - the young kids get Steve, the old-heads like us get Banjo, the Goku lovers get Erdrick, everyone else gets Master Chief and the internet explodes... win win.

He's still my #1 desire, but he's just looking so damn unlikely this day and age... I can easily be appeased with Banjo.

Geno is extremely unlikely and Shantae is dead so Crash is all I have left for any of my most wants to make it. Though I'd be satisfied with Banjo as I understand loads of people want him very much.

I'd feel like it would be a bit much in terms of Microsoft characters. Two of them? Sure, why not? It's a pretty historic deal to get Microsoft characters in Smash, after all. Three at once seems excessive, even if they'd all have justification for being included.

I think that, when it comes to the ideal pass, this would be the best set for me:

Joker, Banjo & Kazooie, Erdrick (c'mon, his fans have already been strung along this whole spec. cycle), Geno, and Doomguy. Hear me out here.

B&K (who also covers Microsoft) and Geno are the fan favorites of the pass, Erdrick covers JRPG fans, Joker covers Sony players, and Doomguy covers FPS (which would draw in the big FPS crowd Microsoft has, too). Banjo and especially Doomguy (given Banjo still has a hefty Eastern audience, contrary to Doomguy) cover the West, Erdrick covers the East, and Geno and Joker are loved worldwide. Joker has Arsene and a unique play style from that, B-K have a plethora of unique move possibilities, Geno is a mage-gunner, Erdrick is a jack of all trades, and Doomguy is FPS + explosives + brutal combat. It covers all sorts of move sets, niches, fan wants, promotional value, and balances everything out with no one rep feeling too samey to another.

Boom. That, imo, is the ideal Fighter's Pass.
