Geno (♥♪!?): Return of the Starsend Savior

It was weird and all I remember of this character reveal, but not as weird as what happened next. So the character goes over to Plushie Reggie and pulls out a piece of his essence and it looks like Reggie might die or something and then the new character get wrecked and flies off into a a tower of building blocks and then you see Reggie's essence float down and hover above a hand...A WOODEN HAND! Then you hear the sound of wood clinking as the essence is given back to Reggie, and when he accepts it back the wooden hand helps pull him up. The camera then swivels to reveal Reggie's hero and...IT'S MUTHAFOOKIN GENO BABY! As you can assume, both versions of myself in this dream lost their collective s*** but it was tainted a bit: Geno seemed a bit off from what we knew. His expressions were less of the enthusiastic but down-to-earth hero we knew and more fulled with some sort of conflict. His outfit was still mostly blue but it had black portions at the bottom of the cape and around the collar pieces and he was missing his right hand.

The me in the dream was just so excited that he didn't care, but the me watching the dream was like 'Aww no, the edge-i-fied him! Why, Nintendo, WHY?!' The other Mario character emerged from the rubble and glared angrily at Geno, and then from Geno's missing hand he formed A GIANT PURPLE AND BLUE SWORD and charged into battle.

Geno having a purple-blue laser sword could possibly be attributed to me playing through Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep before I fell out. I'm currently beating Aqua's story and I got her Bladecharge which, when triggered, makes a giant purple-ish light blade extend from her keyblade. I assume Geno being 'edge-i-fied' would attribute to me fear that if we do get him that he SOMEHOW won't be properly referenced to even though it's mf Sakurai and Crew working on this so he would, although he did look kinda badass. Also the FS cinematic has no reference I can think of other than Super Vegito, the rest is just my imagination going to town.

The fact that PP was already in play-testing for base makes me also wonder what else might have been in the project plan, only to be saved later for either the Fighter's Pass or completely different DLC altogether. It definitely lends to the many ID slots, some of which would surely be for alts, some of which could also be for fighters or echoes. Maybe there was more planned for base game than we know, but given nothing was removed from the project plan, they're being saved for later down the line. It definitely makes me wonder if Erdrick, Geno, or both were planned for base game, but because of Square being Square, they were pushed for later. Considering the evidence that Sakurai had Geno on his mind while Ultimate was being ironed out, I wouldn't be surprised if they were both being planned, and it would explain the sheer amount of snags that lasted months.

Of course, though, this is all massive reaching and theorycrafting. MASSIVE reaching and grasping for shreds of hope lmao. Please acknowledge that with my post here, y'all.

I actually believe it. We only got six unique newcomers in Smash Ultimate, and I definitely believe that there had to've been more unique newcomers planned for the game but had to be cut short. I think Sakurai wanted to release the game as soon as possible because we didn't get the stage builder, home-run contest or break the targets as mini-games. We also had a story mode with only a few cutscenes, not dozens like Subspace Emissary had. But what can I say? For two people that only worked on the movies, they did a fine-ass job at making it, but I just wish some of the cutscenes in World of Light were more extended. Now, if only they put the old Main Menu and Battlefield theme in the full game... ugh, it still makes me pissed that they scrapped those two amazing soundtracks; I loved the old Battlefield theme more than the finalized one in the full game.

Something gets me is I wonder if some of the newcomers that didn't make it in the game became assist trophies.
All I can think of is Skull Kid, Shadow, Krystal, and Black Knight:

1. As for Skull Kid, it's because the Legend of Zelda hasn't had a new rep since Brawl, but I believe one of these reasons behind him being made into an assist trophy is because Young Link came back, so Sakurai supposed there was no need for another LoZ rep. Skull Kid wasn't shown in the November Direct either, many didn't know until they checked the website to see if he was an assist trophy or not, but he was.

2. Shadow would've been the perfect echo fighter, but I'm very surprised he didn't make it as one, considering that his popularity just about spikes Sonic's. He was one of the two (him and Ken) I would've bet money on for being a future echo fighter. A reason for him not being an echo fighter is probably because of Joker, and I know a third-party having more than three reps is just a fan-made rule, but perhaps Sakurai said SEGA is already getting a third representative from Persona, so he must've scrapped him at the last minute. Think about it, because we already had Knuckles representing Sonic's franchise, and Shadow was nowhere to be found after Knuckles... until he was shown at the last minute. I definitely think Shadow had to've been a last-minute scrap.

3. Krystal was one of the last remaining popular characters in the old Brawl poll from 2006. I thought Krystal would make it in as a newcomer, but my guess it Sakurai rejected her again. Because all of the previous veterans are returning, he made Krystal as an assist trophy this time since Wolf was coming back, and Sakurai pretty much did the same thing back in Brawl with having Wolf replacing Krystal as a newcomer for Brawl. So my assumption is if Wolf never returned, we probably would've seen Krystal as a newcomer.

4. We know Sakurai has a bias for Fire Emblem, and ALWAYS expect a new FE character to come in a new Smash game. Because Black Knight was missing in the Castle Siege stage, I thought he would come as an echo fighter of a FE character; I thought his character would be as slow as Ganondorf and had similar moves like Ike, but he was made into an assist trophy... my guess for this is because he wasn't a fan service pick like Chrom was, plus even Sakurai said we have too many FE characters, so he probably turned down Black Knight and made him as an assist trophy instead.

Currently? Probably the Mother games. There's quite a few others I adore as well like some Pokemon generations, SSBB, and SMRPG. Probs a bunch more too.

I don't think Sega would think that. There are a lot of people who want Shadow and a decent amount of people who want Tails (and maybe Knuckles and Dr. Eggman). Basically, the DQ rumor was someone on 2ch (think Japanese 4Chan) said that ArcSystems was making a Granblue fighting game and the DQ guy was going to be in Smash. What I'm saying is that could have been thrown in "just 'cause". There have been a few rumors that have done this: having legit info and then adding "X will be in Smash". I beleive Dante was this way too. Steve was as well. You can't take one thing people get right as evidence that everything was right. Was people's mistake with Verge.
