Who wants to play a mini-game?

What’s your DREAM MATCH in Smash? Your 2 favorite characters, from any company. What are their chances in Smash to be playable? Well, I start, and I’m going to witness the other half of my childhood dream, very soon. My 2 favorite Third Party characters. Also I can mix them with my favorite Nintendo hero: Link.

View attachment 292577View attachment 292578

I choose: ROCK & GENO

(please credit to Photo Creators).
Out of the characters that aren't in yet, I'd say Geno vs Doomguy.

If it was just anyone, I don't know if I could choose just two, so how about Geno, Banjo and Kazooie, Ridley, Shovel Knight, and Doomguy? Hell, throw Sans in there too because that'd be hilarious.

Unrelated, but since a few of you in here seem to be Maximilian Dood fans, I figured tell you that he's weighed in on this tournament canceling controversy.

I have two big dream matches. One of them is a match between Mario, Sonic and Crash because it would be absolutely N. Sane [badum-tsh] to have the big three 90's gaming platforming mascots in the same game duking it out with each other. As for my second dream match, I would love a match between Ridley, King K. Rool, Banjo & Kazooie, and Geno. The battle of the "never evers", and it would be so surreal to have all these four characters in the game after so much demand for all these years.
Why not all when 8 player Smash exists? A 7 man match would be epic to see between these never ever legends.

You know... Something that's been grossly understated about today... The World Ends With You is finally getting a true sequel after 13 years and Square's "development freeze" from the summer is further confirmed to be over. Makes me feel like if the SMRPG remake rumors are true, we'll know in a few months at most.

The worlds ends with you; but the world starts with Geno

So I saw MondoMega’s post I think it was done in just a joking way and nothing more.

Geno still has a very good chance and could still very well be in.

The guy was just having some fun that’s it let’s leave him be. Besides we all know Jonsey from Fortnite is 8.

Yes this is a joke do not take it seriously.

Another confession time: when I was younger I used to do fantasy booking with the Smash Bros Brawl roster. I kind of modified it to be like WWE brands. Each brand had champions (world champion, tag team champions, women’s champion (which is kind of sexist of me in hindsight), lightweight champion, and a Retro championship).

I used to log all of the matches I booked and would keep track of championship reigns (# of reigns, days held, win-loss records) in Excel.

i would try and book fantasy storylines based off rivalries (classic good guys vs bad guys), and would do fun stuff like having Mario and Link feud (both good guys).

Mallow (white Kirby) and Geno (blue G&W) were my tag team champions a few times. I think Geno also competed for the Retro championship but I don’t think I ever gave it to him...

....I’ll just show myself out

That's awesome. I've done that. That's what's so great about Smash, there's so many ways to have fun.

So did Fatmanonice Fatmanonice and this Mondo leaker dude DM each other, and if so what came of it? It was a whole thing when I offered my piece of wisdom a few days ago, and that was nothing compared to this.
I don't really know if I can explain it very well. What I can tell you is that nothing came of it and everyone was getting worked up over nothing.

Talked about some things but they wanted to keep the conversation private. Basically they were shooting the breeze and it blew up into this whole thing. Kind of highlights an ongoing problem but on a smaller scale: somebody says something, people on different sites blow it up and then "oh ****, suddenly I'm getting all this attention from total strangers and now I'm mildly worried about my safety..." In the grand scheme of things it was speculation and leave it at that. "BuT hE sOuNdEd So CoNfIdEnT." Hi; it's me, Fatmanonice. The guy some people unironically hate because of the confidence I hold in some of my speculation and theorycraft? Have we met? Same thing... He didn't mean any harm by it and I think people should let him be.

Remember how I said a few days ago that the Bethesda statement to Source Gaming indicates something bigger?

Well, their statement to IGN a day or two later was different. It was a lot more generic, and didn’t mention anything about this month.

So, if we’re judging it from a PR industry standpoint: if they “lessened” their statement days later to a different media organization (IGN vs Source Gaming), that means someone was told the first statement was bad for business in some way. Usually if companies are releasing generic statements rather than doing interviews, it’s a blanket statement across the board.

Summary: my expectations of a Doom mini-direct or Nintendo direct in November that COULD reveal a Doom Smash appearance and rabbit-hole us toward believing in Cacomallow have gone down slightly.

EDIT: GOOD LORD I apparently missed the last paragraph. The statement IS blanket across the board. Which means I still am expecting something similar to above. Talk about a bi-polar post. Sorry lol.

So, news in the next few days is still fairly likely if we're to take this statement to heart?

I don’t know if “likely” is the right word, because it’s all based on the assumption that their PR people are highly trained at their jobs. If they’re not, any pattern I’m noticing is obsolete.

But otherwise yeah, I still lean toward my original post that something is coming because they chose to put out a fire with a bigger expectation rather than an easy bandaid (like a Mom getting caught eating a kid’s cookie, and the kid getting upset and the Mom promising him that she only ate it because she’s baking him a cake instead. You don’t make that promise if you can’t follow through...unless you’re a bad Mom. You get it)

Hey QQS QQS , definitely no shade or anything but I just wanted to make a suggestion. When posting fanart, you should really include a link to the source or a username of the artist. I know you've done that with some of them. It's just kind of common courtesy to not repost peoples' art unless you're going to give credit or a link back. "Credit to the artist" doesn't really do much to get the artist any real exposure unless they have the piece signed, which a lot aren't... It's just sort of an art etiquette thing.

Forums are kind of a weird environment I'm not used to, but I know in 99% of places online, reposting art without credit is very much looked down upon. Plus, I think it would be nice for people to be able to follow the sources back. I would've been kind of weirded out to see my partner's art posted without any credit-- luckily they sign their work, but many people don't.

When I know who is the artist, I always say Credit to “and the name”. When I don’t know the artist, I say: “credit to the artist”. And also sometimes I add: “all photos I share aren’t mine cause I’m not an artist and thanks to the content creators”.

Thats fine and humble for me. If someone doesn’t like it, that’s not my problem anymore. I don’t see the bad on my acting cause I’m not pretending to steal any art. Just spreading some love and appreciation for the art. I get the point but if I don’t know the artist, I said what I said. I could put the link but rather than that I usually say: “seen on Twitter” or something.

Best wishes.

But my point is that "credit to the artist" doesn't actually give credit to anyone. I have a lot of artist friends who get really frustrated by this sort of thing, with their art being shared without their knowledge and with no linking back to them at all. I know the artists of several of the pieces you've shared. I'm not here to start a fight, it's just common internet courtesy to either link back, or if you don't know the artist, to not post it. I know we all like seeing nice art (hell you saw my folder of TWO THOUSAND pictures) and I'm not accusing you of "stealing" art, but I see things from the artist community perspective, which is that reposting art is universally considered disrespectful.

Again, it's an etiquette thing. I don't expect people to always know it from the beginning, but I think blowing it off and saying "that's not my problem" is kind of rude. Many Japanese artists in particular very much dislike when people repost their art. It's definitely a worse problem on places like twitter, and it's not usually done out of malice, but I think it's an important thing for people to consider, because artists work very hard on their pieces and deserve to be recognized for them. Especially since we all share a common thing we love.

For the record, here's sources for the images in the post above:
1st: TerminalMontage-- though his deviantart is deactivated now.
2nd: unknown unfortunately, I don't have this pic
3rd: Nozomu on Pixiv
4th: Mawile on tumblr
5th: appears to be Peet Cooper at Artstation
6th: Loopy-Lupe

Honestly I'm glad the arguments in this thread have devolved to when the next presentation actually is than anything else because good god the discussions I'm seeing about Nintendo and the Smash Community right now are just
death.gif

where people seemingly think a number of high-profile accusations at notable players that lead the entire community to quickly condemn and completely expel them for the rest of time.... suddenly means the entire scene is sexual pedophiles and that's why Nintendo has refused to support the scene for it's entire existence.

I get your point, so I can’t repost Art if I don’t know the artist, even when I always say it’s not my creation? Well in that way, I haven’t been blocked yet by the Admins. People always send photos on the internet on any social media, without telling anyone. At least I consider myself respectful and try to find the artist and always give credit, unless I don’t know who he/she is. In fact, I have never receive negative stuff about my behavior here about that. I know it’s hard work and given how I appreciate them, I share them. Based on my perspective, the artist should be happy because a guy from the other corner of the world shares the Art and eventually it will come to the artist name cause there are always someone who know the name. I think the problem is the people who post the art not saying anything, pretending to be their art. That’s far from my attitude.

Don’t know what else I can say. I love art and it’s never my own art. Guess I won’t share more if I don’t know the artist? Maybe an admin should decide, not us.

Honestly? Yeah, that's usually how it goes. And for the rest of your post... this definitely isn't anything you should get banned for, or get in trouble for. Because like I said, you're not stealing the art or claiming it's yours. As I said before, it's an etiquette/courtesy thing, not some kind of hard rule. I think especially on forums like this, it can be something that's hard to enforce. It was just something I wanted to let you know about-- a lot of people assume they're not doing harm because they're not meaning harm, but that's not always the case. And people who don't actively exist in artist circles, like I do, simply don't know how negatively it can be received. I've seen artists get maybe 100 likes on something they posted, but then someone reposts it to a place like Reddit and it gets thousands of views/upvotes/whatever, but it's not linked back to them so they see none of the positive outcome of it.

For the record, I think it would be totally fine to post an image for the purpose of trying to find the source of it-- but it might be a little out of place on this thread in particular? Not totally sure. Again, despite being on the internet for 17 straight years, I am bad at forums lol. But I do have thousands of Geno pics and probably 90% of the time could find a source for something. :)

It's a good rule of thumb to watch out for places like Pinterest and Zerochan (god, is that even still a website??), which are notorious for having reposted, unsourced fanart... usually in worse, compressed quality, too!

Well I understand. I didn’t want to be rude with anyone or the artists.

Of course not-- no ill will was intended at all, I know that! I totally understand your passion for wanting to share fanart. I'm not an artist either and I'm so envious of all the brilliant talents out there. Everyone has so much love for this game, it's so impressive to see everyone still going strong after all this time. Something I also love is having followed some artists for 10+ years, and watching them steadily improve. It's great.

I highly recommend checking out the Japanese fanart site Pixiv for awesome fanart, if you haven't already. Big SMRPG presence there! In the past few years it's become a lot more accessible to people who can't read/speak Japanese. Also, when you save the image with the original filename, it uses the ID number of the image on the site, so you can use that to find the image again for a source! ...Assuming the artist hasn't deleted the pic, LOL.

I'm sure it'd be okay as long as it's SMRPG-related. I don't imagine it'd derail the thread.

I will say, at the very least I'm glad that QQS QQS always specifies that he didn't make the fanart. Some people unfortunately don't do that and they take all the credit as if they made it. Its a really scummy thing, and I'm glad QQS isn't like that.

For the sake of contributing, here's a cute little pic of Geno that my friend Blake (Riftclaw on Tumblr) drew for me. He had no idea who Geno was before he met me but has now been sucked into thinking he's cool! Got another one.

Edit:
.....I am also guilty of lots of little doodles of him, for the past 12 years. Pretty much all of these are very old and I apologize for their quality. Again-- not an artist LOL. But here is a whole bunch of little Genos.
