Guys, I just had a thought: If all characters in FP2 are going to have unique playstyles or attributes, I can't see Geno working as one of those with unique characteristics or playstyles, even with timed hits. Still, I am sure Sakurai can find a way to make him unique. I, for one, have a little idea to make Geno a bit different aside from timed hits.

This involves stages. Just like how different stages may have different terrain that give Steve different materials when he mines on them, different stages would affect Geno's power (It can't be much harder to program than the terrain thing Steve has). With his Geno Boost move, Geno can draw power from the Star Road and become stronger. Now, in stages where the sun is out, Geno gets a good amount of power from the Star Road, with or without the Geno Boost, as the sun being out allows the Star Road to be able to give Geno power, either way; Geno just gets more power with the Geno Boost. In night or space stages, Geno gets even more power since, well, the stars are out. In cloudy stages, Geno is slightly stronger, below sun stage level, along with the power of his Geno Boost. In terms of underground stages and maybe indoor stages, Geno is slightly weaker, but can still gain strength from the Star Road and is not too weak, as he is still capable and close to as he were in cloudy levels. In changing levels like the Paper Mario stage, Geno's strength changes depending on which formation of the stage is actually present and in effect at the moment. Basically, Geno is strong or weak with weather conditions on the stage, and may get stronger with the Geno Boost depending on the stage, but nothing as complex as Steve. Battlefield and Final Destination have Geno at a reasonable, normal level, nothing special, just average level.

So, what do you all think of this?
I like where your head’s at with this, and it’s definitely an interesting concept, but I dunno if it’s a thing Geno would have. Like 7NATOR 7NATOR said, it’s almost like a weather dependent gimmick that would fit better on Mallow, even if that’s not what you intended for it to be.

But still, the concept you brought up is still really cool and unique, it might just need a bit of workshopping is all.

I see what you mean. In Geno's case, though, it is more of a sky thing than a weather thing as I said. The stars giving Geno power is not the same as weather giving Mallow power, as the stars are not the same kind of weather thing, if they are much of a weather thing at all.

But still, thanks!

I decided to look it up and Banjo, Terry, and Byleth being Fall 2021 is weirdly realistic.

Roy and Ryu were released almost 3 months after Smash 4 DLC ended and almost 11 months from their original release. Cloud, Corrin, and Bayo were almost a full year and a half from their releases. We know production for these is in waves and the last brand new Smash Amiibo wave was back in January, 10 months ago. This said, COVID probably made the situation even worse so an almost year gap between the new Amiibo waves is, coincidentally, actually less than it was between Royu and Clorrinetta in Smash 4.

By the way, I can give something similar to Mallow.

It's kinda different. This is tied to Mallow's emotions. Basically, he would have an emotion gauge with Happiness one one end, Anger on the other and Sadness in the middle. When Geno attacks, lands an attack, does great damage, is winning or is healed, among other things, his happiness goes up. If he is attacked, shielded, is losing, loses a life, his shield breaks or takes a hard hit, his anger increases. After some point in combat, Mallow the gauge will stop increasing or decreasing, and will land on either Happiness, Sadness or Anger, which then Geno can use his Neutral Special Move to activate an attack. If the gauge is on Happiness, it will snow, freezing aspects on the stage and increase his powers greatly. If the gauge is on Sadness, Mallow will cry, and it will rain, increasing his powers slightly, but heavy, big raindrops will come occasionally, hitting with the force of Meteor Smashes. If the gauge is on Anger, lightning occurs on the stage, damaging everyone on the stage except Mallow. His powers are increased at a greater level than when he is happy. The gauge is sensitive, and it is easy to fill up Happiness or Anger, so there is no telling which one you might get when it stops moving!

What do you all think of this?

I think people who are expecting big gaps like with Min Min and Steve are forgetting some things

1. Literally most of the the Steve presentation was Sakurai talking about how it was extremely difficult to implement the character, they had to redesign every single stage for the block placing move. Furthermore, Sakurai also commented on how they aren’t able to do testing at the team’s lunch break anymore and they only recently launched some private servers for character testing.

2. Characters are worked on in trios. We all know Joker, Hero, and Banjo were worked on all at the same time. This also should apply to Terry, Byleth, and Min Min. That means that Steve, FP8, and FP9 have all been worked on together.

I think this no FP8 until January thing is another quick jump to conclusions by the smash community.
If the next fighter is Geno, he'd much simpler than Steve and would be announced relatively soon.

But we shouldn't believe in Amiibo theory because there is no way we will wait until Fall 2021 for a character who was planned for E3 2020 right? RIGHT?

Whoa, what's this about the Banjo, Terry, and Byleth amiibos coming out supposedly in Fall 2021?

I'm pretty sure he was referring to this.

It doesn't explicitly say that Ninja Gaiden is one of his favorite NES games, but it does mean that he enjoyed it enough to download it on the Wii. Ys I & II is another notable game, imo.

Adol Christin energy intensifies

Oh baby, Adol Christing... actually might be a Dark Horse in all of this? :denzel: Hoooo boy let me temper my expectations here before I bust a stat boosting almond.

So... Uh... This could be big...

The Breath of the Wild Amiibo rereleases are November, Cat Mario and Cat Peach are February, and Monster Hunter is late March...

This heavily suggests we should be seeing 8 in a matter of weeks, maybe even by the end of the month. This is REALLY good.
Hehe. Time for the kicker.

Everyone, let's not forget; we could very well still be amidst the slew of premium "E3 2020" announcements of Nintendo. Thus far in all E3 Directs in which Super Smash Bros. was still ongoing, we've always had that "one more thing" surprise reveal near the end. Figuratively, as we get even closer to wrapping up 2020, we might be coming up on the last reveals of what would have been this year's E3 Direct. I guess CP 8 being announced before the year is over isn't such a farfetched possibility after all, following this train of thought. As it's been pointed out, November seems like a favorable month to reveal CP 8 not simply for the desire of knowing who else will join the roster, but also because we'll be coming up on Black Friday (near the end of November) and it'll be the time most people (parents) do their Holiday shopping (gotta get my kid that Super Bashing Fighter Cousins Kicker Pack, or I'll NEVER hear the end of it).

That's not what I'm saying. Ultimate's Amiibo waves have been very closely tied to Amiibo releases, even rereleases. The rerelease of Plant, K. Rool, and Isabelle was even delayed two months to line up with Min Min. We currently have Amiibo waves scheduled for November 2020, February 2021, and March 2021 according to Nintendo itself so there's a decent chance that new DLC characters will be released within those time-frames too, especially since Terry was a November release, Plant, Corrin, and Bayo were February releases (with Byleth being late January) and Mewtwo and Joker being April releases (with Min Min supposed to be an April release before her delay).

Just had to do this after the Bomberman costume reveal. It's pretty amateurish but I had fun working on it.

There was a problem fetching the tweet

EDIT: Twitter's compression really roughed up too :ultpacman:
Malo Mart Malo Mart just made this great Geno Bomberman: https://twitter.com/cacomallow/status/1313202464854863872?s=20
Edit: A got Ninja'd by Malo itself, who would say it?
Did y’all know that this CacoMallow guy did a cool bomberman if y’all didn’t know

i highly doubt a game awards reveal at this point

They revealed Steve, the biggest character in gaming not added to Smash Bros. yet, in their own presentation. Sure, it was close to Minecon, but then...why not just reveal Steve at Minecon?

I won't be surprised if from here on out, third party characters are revealed a few days before their presents video (a la Steve) and first parties are revealed in the presents video themselves, at least until things go back to normal in terms of nintendo directs, however far in the future that may be

(I still think a November/December reveal is absolutely in the cards, but it would have to be a longer gap between announcement and presents. Hopefully they'd be confident to do that again.)

So whats the hullabaloo over these deleted/unloadable tweets and their relation to Amiibo theory?
Nintendo released a tweet saying the next new Amiibo would drop in Fall 2021. People assumed it meant Amiibo Theory was dead since they wouldn't wait a year to reveal FP8.

Even if we can't use Amiibo theory for FP8, we still have other things to use to potentially point towards at bare minimum the reveal before 2020 ends. Namely, the roughly 3 month give or take a week gap for both Min Min and Steve's respective reveals and releases and how both were revealed after Smash tournaments prominently advertised on Nintendo's social media no longer than a week after.

Awww yeeeaaah new vid

Judging by the looks of the thumbnail Sora might be in a bad spot.
In the video, some dude name, MondoMega said Nintendo wanted Sora in Vol. 2 however, it’s too expensive. I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case honestly. This lines up with Imran Kahn saying, Nintendo approached Disney.

So maybe we should thank Disney if Geno gets in instead of Sora?

Well... Geno and Sora seem distinct. However, even though Sora is owned by Disney, chances are Nintendo could possibly see him as a Square rep. Square is known for KH and KH represents both Disney and Square. So maybe yes we might be safer.

In my opinion, they should have Geno as fighter 8 and save Waluigi for last. Why? Three reasons:

1) Space out the Mario characters
2) The last character will likely garner the most hate, so who better to end with than the ultimate troll character?
3) I can't wait any longer for Geno
No no no no.
That's not a fair deal

They're both Mario Characters, so why not release them together ?

And why should Waluigi be last, just to be used as a scapegoat by the toxic part of the Smash community to **** on him more than they already do ?

And finally, I also can't and don't want to wait in agony just to know that my most wanted is in the game.

After going over the official Nintendo VS Twitter and scrolling through most of its 2020 feed, I present to you all, the tournaments that have taken place within the year. I excluded the Pokémon tournaments since those are handled by TPC, and the Smash event tournaments.

FEBRUARY - MARCH
  • Super Smash Bros. Ultimate North American Online Open Spring 2020: began on February 29th, and ended on March 1st
APRIL
  • ARMS North American Online Open: began and ended on April 4th
MAY
  • Mario Kart North American Open: began on May 8th, and ended on May 10th
JUNE
  • Super Smash Bros. Ultimate North American Online Open May 2020: began on May 30th, and ended on June 21st (this was due to the postponement of one of the region sets early on in the tournament, pretty much moving the rest of the regions into June).
  • Splatoon 2 North American Open: began on June 14th, and ended on June 21st
  • Mario Kart North American Open June 2020: began on June 26th, and ended on June 28th
JULY
  • Splatoon 2 Turf War; began and ended on July 18th
  • Mario Tennis Aces North American Open July 2020; began and ended on July 25th
AUGUST
  • ARMS North American Open August 2020; began on August 8th, and ended on August 9th
  • Mario Kart North American Open August 2020; began on August 14th, and ended on August 16th
SEPTEMBER
  • Splatoon 2 North American Open September 2020; began on September 6th, and ended on September 13th
  • Mario Tennis Aces North American Open September 2020; began and ended on September 19th
  • Super Smash Bros. Ultimate VS Challenge Cup September 2020; began and ended on September 26th
OCTOBER
  • ARMS North American Open October 2020; began on October 3rd, and ended on October 4th
  • Mario Kart North American Open October 2020; begins on October 9th, and ends on October 11th
  • Splatoon 2 Turf War October 2020; begins and ends on October 17th
Out of all these tournaments, the dates in which the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate ones were held are the most interesting (for the context of character reveal speculation).
  • The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate North American Online Open Spring 2020 Tournament was held between February 29th, and March 1st. Do note that around this time was when strict lock-down measures were being implemented around many of the World's Nations due to the ongoing pandemic. It wasn't until March 26th that we got the news of Fighters Pass Vol. 2 in which it was revealed that a fighter from ARMS would be Challenger Pack 6.
  • The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate North American Online Open May 2020 Tournament that began almost at the end of May (May 30th specifically) lasted all the way up until June 21st. The next day we got the reveal of who that ARMS fighter would be; Min Min.
  • The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate VS Challenge Cup September 2020 Tournament is the latest Smash tournament that was held and lasted only one day (September 26th). About four/five days later we got the reveal of Steve being Challenger Pack 7.
Having said all this, I believe the next indicator that could tell us when we could be expecting the announcement of Challenger Pack 8 should be close to the next Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament (not event tournament) that's held sometime in the near future (whenever Nintendo feels like doing one). Given the time gap between Smash tournaments, I'd estimate the next one to be sometime around December 2020. Coincidentally, during the Super Mario Bros. 35th Anniversary, we got a heads-up of an upcoming Mario-themed Smash tournament that is expected to take place sometime between November and December 2020. Although, since this is a themed tournament (different from the ones mentioned prior), I'm not sure if this would count as the tournament to look out for in wait for CP 8's reveal. It would have to be another Online Open, or VS Challenge Cup styled tournament.

Additional data:
  • Days between Smash Spring tournament and announcement that an ARMS fighter would join Smash = 25 days.
  • Days between the ARMS April tournament and announcement that an ARMS fighter would join Smash = -9 days (tournament was after the announcement).
  • Days between the Smash May 2020 tournament and Min Min reveal = 1 day.
  • Days between the Smash VS Challenge Cup tournament and Steve's reveal = 5 days.

You basically beat me to what I was about to type out, but I do think that Mario tournament should be looked over. It's the only major Smash tournament that was announced this far in advance and no other tournament like it has done so

How is Amiibo theory in danger? A smash fighter is revealed within a ~2 week period of an Amiibo wave release or rerelease. Nothing specifies that the amiibo wave is Smash related. It's been accurate every time that a fighter is revealed/released around the time of an Amiibo wave. Am I missing something?
