Pretty happy with Nintendo announcement about the Switch in Brazil! They left the country after Wii U's disaster and has been slowly trying to come back. Hopefully we will see some good news about it. Importing the console and any other eletronic device in the country is really expensive. Imagine paying $500 dollars or even more in Ring Fit. Yeah...

Looking forward for that rumored direct as well. I still think Geno is FP7 due to the weird amount of talk he had some days before the incredible partner showcase aaaand the missing mii costume.

Chances are if the general direct/general direct mini happens next week, the last milestone we'll reach is 3200 pages before then
Let's aim for 3500 then.

Honestly, if this Direct is the supposed E3 Direct that got delayed, I think we should expect 7 and 8, alongside the Mario collection, Skyward Sword, and the Indie-developed Nintendo properties Fatmanonice Fatmanonice was talking about. The only way I can see us not getting 8 as well is if 8's actually Lloyd Irving, who'd make sense to reveal on the 25th anniversary of Tales.

Geno's coming though. This much I believe.

Already talked about it on Discord but something happened yesterday that really does make me think this is the calm before the storm. The Indie World presentation was about 22 minutes long... but showed off 24 games! That's pretty nuts if you think about it. Even without the sizzle reel, we still got 18 games in a little less than about the timespan of my lunch break. No fluff, just games and they managed to show off two dozen games in less than a half hour. Now, with a General Direct presumably on the horizon, that's a lot to consider. If they can do that much in 22 minutes, imagine half an hour. Imagine forty minutes. That's pretty exciting.

Because hindsight is always 20/20, I do kind of realize that doing the franchise revivals yesterday would have been a huge **** move on Nintendo's part. For all intents and purposes, Cadence of Hyrule is still basically Crypt of the Necrodancer but Zelda themed. Like @Serenade01 argued yesterday, the dead franchise revivals would be literal new installments being trusted to indie developers. An enormous deal, absolutely, but still Nintendo properties. Indies are meant to highlight indie and give them their own space from the big guys so Nintendo busting in Super Mario RPG 2 by Lab Zero Games would be an asshole move of the umpteenth degree. Something like Goose game could never compete with that and everything in that presentation except DK 64 2: Lanky's ****in' Pissed by Playtonic would be immediately forgotten. I want to be freed of this curse but I should have known better and, ironically, I'm pretty sure I made this argument after past Indie presentations too.

We all make mistakes in speculation, and that's something I've been guilty of too, especially when it came to Direct dates

That's a pretty big hint, right there. That's a... very big hint. Hoo boy.

I suppose, the DLC ride will continue, then, for the months to come.

How there isn't something relevant I will remind that my Birthday is today. I hope we could have news soon
I hope you have a lovely birthday, my dude! I also hope you get something you wished for!

I'm not Brazilian, but when I saw this news, it genuinely made me smile! I'm very happy for the Brazilians who can now properly own a Nintendo Switch!
NateDrake dropped this on ResetEra, seems to be implying that FP7 is Dante? Does this mean that insiders are getting info on the Direct and it’s closer than we thought? (And also where’s Geno in that case if he’s not 7? 🤔)
Um... well s***, this really seems like a hard hint at Dante. Fatmanonice Fatmanonice has been predicting him (and he already seemed like a likely character anyway)! Personally, I'd be pretty pumped to see Dante, even if I haven't played Devil May Cry because I know he's a big Capcom character (though I'd feel bad for Phoenix Wright fans since I feel like his chances would decrease significantly if Dante got in).

It'd be nice to see Geno next, but I've never tried to predict which character comes when exactly. Geno is definitely coming, but I never saw him as a lock for Fighter #7.

Edit: Uhh, lads? After being bombarded with Dante for Smash questions, Nate asked how to hide content and then said...

This isn't a stretch... Dante famously loves pizza. ...is Dante our character?

...Somehow, I have absolutely no memory of the track 'Let's Play Geno' turning into the Super Mario World theme. And I literally just replayed SMRPG this year. I immediately recognize the beginning of that song, yeah, but when the SMW part kicked in I just paused like "What?".

Is Every Copy Of SMRPG Personalized?

Even if Dante was 7 who cares? I don't really think it hurts Geno at all and I've been predicting a Dante/Geno E3 since atleast March. The only things that really hurt Geno in my eyes are
  • A different Square Character
  • A different Mario Character
  • If we get a new third-party company before a Square reveal happens

Almost as quickly as I felt an ember of hype, once again Nintendo speculation has been stomped out by the tsunami of reality.
Dante still has a lot in his favor to an obnoxious degree. People ask me a lot why I'm predicting certain characters that I am and this is from a recent conversation I had with someone about Dante:

On the topic of Dante, here are the main talking points:

-In December 2018, Kamiya ran a poll on Twitter about which of his characters people most wanted to see in Smash. Dante won by a considerable amount. Kamiya claimed to have erased the poll because of "trolls" but thankfully people caught results on the last day of the poll:

-February 2019, the director of the DMC series basically said if fans wanted Dante in Smash then they needed to demand Nintendo ports but also buy them:

-DMC was ported in June, DMC 2 in November, and a special edition of 3 in February 2020.

-The Monster Hunter costumes are still missing.

-Capcom is one of only three third parties so far to get special spirit events and it's assumed Monster Hunter and Resident Evil are out of the running.

-Dante has been in insider circles since last summer but recent Intel in July suggested that a Capcom character was actually the final character successfully negotiated for, Season 2 coincidentally in January. Coincidentally, this may also explain why Dante was heard so heavily in January to the point that some people were outright claiming that he had "started development."

Oh absolutely. I am curious what you mean by the highlighted point. As in we see something along the lines of "Bethesda Rep" would show that new Third parties are going to make up the pass? I am not sure I follow.

The implication is that, based on past precedent, characters from third parties who are already present in the game are easier to negotiate rights and start development on than characters from entirely new companies to Smash. We saw it both in the Smash 4 DLC with Ryu happening before Cloud (Bayonetta is a weird case whether it counts as a new company because Platinum is obviously involved but the character is still owned by Sega and she was also the ballot winner so she kinda had to come last.) and in Pass 1 with Joker and Hero happening before Banjo and Terry. If we do get a new company like Activision I feel like it heavily implies they didn't negotate for anymore third parties from already involved companies going forward from whenever a character like that might be.

In other news, this happened.

Could be revealed Ubisoft Forward next month, but man does it feel like stuff is really starting to leak out.

That makes sense. It could be implied that way, but I don't think that will be the case. Its mostly a gut feeling so I could be wrong.

Also, HOLY S***!! I loved Prince of Persia! Now watch Guatemala leak the whole Direct.

We definitely have to be near to something at this point; With the Skyward Sword leak from the other day, this Prince of Persia leak from today; Retailers are starting to leak like a sieve, and whenever that happens, there's usually something new on the horizon.

Maybe Best Buy will make another classic blunder...

Considering the Indie World was announced a day in advance, it's safe to say the Direct will be announced at the very least a day in advance as well, probably more, business as usual. In any case we might be less than a week away from the announcement of a proper Direct, after a year.

Watch Fighter 7 be someone really underwhelming 😂
FP7 is Rusty from Rusty's Real-Deal Baseball. His attacks are introspective conversations about life.

Please don't hate me for asking a question like this on this board, but are there any Square characters that you guys would accept if they made it in over Geno? Now, I really want Geno for all of you guys, and I really loved SMRPG, so I mean no ill will by asking.

For me, Neku Sakuraba from The World Ends with You ticks all the boxes for a Square character I want in Smash. History with Nintendo? Check. (Original game and the remastered Final Remix are both Nintendo exclusives.) Amazing soundtrack? Check. Unique aesthetics? Check. (Seriously, if you haven't seen the game or know anything about it, just Google the title and go to Images.) And it looks like they want to continue the series, at least in the form of the Final Remix sort of lead up as well as the anime they're releasing next year. (Though I think the anime is just a retelling of the first one.)

I personally and selfishly want Neku over Geno, but overall I hope Geno makes it in as it's been a long time coming and there are clearly some incredibly dedicated fans here and in the Smash community in general.

It's just a matter of time before the Direct, that's the one thing that can be agreed upon at this juncture.
Although a direct is likely, saying it's a matter of time isn't really the case unless Nintendo come out and say something so I wouldn't go that far just yet.

Terra Branford would mitigate a lot of my disappointment, I admit. Part of it is that she has one my favorite designs in Final Fantasy history (green hair or no buys), comes from my favorite FF game, and that if there is a character besides Geno that symbolizes the SNES era RPG to me, its her*. The biggest downside to her is that I'd imagine we might be dealing with another disappointing set of songs to come with her.

*Well her and Crono, but I prefer Terra.
