The Mallow and Cocademon mii costume leak hasn’t been faked yet?
It still hasn't been shown to have been faked, yes. The closest people have come to remaking what's shown in the video are these recreation hats (Middle and Right, note the inside of the mouths):
CacodemonHatComparison.png

And a port of a Smash 4 Mallow Hat Mod made to show that it is possible to make Smash Ultimate Mii Hat Mods:

As an aside, why do you think it is that nobody has tried to accurately recreate the Mallow Hat? You'd figure it'd be much easier to do since it's pretty low on detail, but so far nothing.

Hey so umm I’ve been snooping on the geno thread for a while and decided to make an account and man, I really hope geno can finally be added so all of this speculation can finally be put to rest and just have someone cool to play as.
Hey, welcome! Always nice to see a new face! At this rate, I'm hoping we get something soon, because speculation has been kind of dead as of late. Either we're retreading the same ground regading the Mii Costume List and the CacoMallow Post, we're getting dragged into more unnecessary drama, or we're overdosing on memes.

Believe me, i would love to do meme videos but i lack the knowledge to do it, sorry :c
I could do it, but it'd be too much effort. I'm lazy, y'know.
I'm pretty good at editing, so I'll definitely be making something for when/if Geno gets revealed. It's gonna be in the style of BestGuyEver, and I already have a great song picked out for it. I'm open to suggestions for fun little visual gags or references if you've got any.

I know that you already have a song ready for this, but i was thinking that it would be pretty cool to have this one playing in the background in a little segment in wich the video shows lots of "it's never going to happen" comments

Oh man, if Geno gets in, I hope BestGuyEver returns to do his thing. When he ended his K. Room video, he teased Geno in the last few seconds of it.

So I do want to see his take on it.

However, I would also like to see yours as a sort of Geno community boosted version.

Like a sort of a Spirit Bomb type of thing.

...Include the spirit bomb, please.

Sakurai has made his official post number 74 on Instagram recently. I wonder if his post number 75 will be about character #75.

Geno still alive, more than ever. Pretty sure his reveal will be the big new of 2020. After 24 years, Geno is coming again to fight!

I don't think Sakurai is planning on turning his Instagram into the old Smash Dojo or Wii U website lol

Surprised he made that Instagram a multipost but I guess having a flood of Smash dev pics would probably draw too much attention >.>
In any case doesn't really mean much speculation wise (and Sakurai wouldn't want it to be so)

"Yes, I'm still alive." I'm going to try to be here only a little bit today to work on the essay. Pounding coffee and not getting locked in multihour arguments will hopefully help me get it done.

Ladies and gentlemen, I had an ephipany in the shower. Now, you all probably don't want to hear thoughts that I've had while nude but this is Fatman's last crazy theory of the decade. Okay, history is repeating itself in a big way. The bad news is that this probably means that we won't be getting Season 2 until the summer/E3... BUT there will be 2-3 characters in this gap! Eureka! Let me explain...

Remember how Smash 4 was originally only going to have one bonus character (Mewtwo) until they changed their minds? They did it again! The original plan of the Fighter's Pass wasn't just going to be 5 characters... It was going to be 5 characters and a bonus! Ladies and gentlemen of the court... Who is a character that we've heard about in abundance like Mewtwo? Who is a character that was heavily rumored to be #5? Who is a character that is exceedingly popular? I think you all know the answer and it solidifies my theory on why I think they are 6!

Now, stay with me... My theory, going against all my contacts and insider friends, is that Geno is 7; why? Cacomallow is part of that but there's definitely more! Again... History is repeating itself... What would Mewtwo and 6 have in common? Usable assets, tying to my "Ren with an axe" theory almost a month ago. What was the gist of it? Mewtwo, Lucas, and Roy were the first DLC of Smash 4. Why? Not only were they readily available because they belonged to Nintendo but because they were popular. If history is repeating itself, what does this suggest? We're getting Mewtwo, Lucas, and Roy again, so to speak...

So, why is Geno "Lucas?" Think about it... What was the first major Smash 4 DLC Mii costume "removed" from the game? Geno! Who was the only base roster character from Brawl that was cut from Smash 4 aside from the Ice Climbers? Lucas! This also suggests why Lucas was the first character after Mewtwo... Because Mewtwo was planned all along, just like 6 now! Like Lucas, Geno would be the first "new" DLC because it's heavily implied that Mewtwo/6 would have happened either way!

So, what about 8? Who is our Roy? Coincidentally, I think it's another anime swordsman. I think it's Lloyd! Popular character with usable assets! If the Power of Six theory is to be believed, the assets of characters like Geno and Lloyd would have already been negotiated for! If the plans for Mii costumes were scrapped, this would be the equivalent of an unbaked cake. Why let that go to waste if it's available?

Now, this theory potentially supports 8 being Heihachi instead but I don't believe this for a wide variety of reasons. For starters, Sakurai himself has already stated that he had major complications implementing Tekken characters into Smash. Second, Lloyd is significantly more wanted for Smash, hands down. Third, the Tales team has heavily been involved in Smash 4 and Ultimate. Four, trademark ****. Banjo Kazooie had a major trademark buff in the fall of 2018 and their big reveal in the summer of 2019. Tales had a major trademark buff, including a new ass symbol, in the fall of 2019 and, ladies and gentlemen, history may be repeating itself and suggests Lloyd will be an E3 reveal, one of two of course (my theory being Crash as 9 to kick off Season 2 but let's stay focused, shall we?) Five, Lloyd has been heard in insider circles since last fall. Surely that means something. I could go on but I won't.

So, not does this strengthened my belief that January will have a triple reveal but that Geno will be 7, Lloyd (or much less likely Heihachi) will be 8, and Crash will be 9. This is interesting because history repeats itself in multiple ways here. In Smash 4, Ryu was the first full DLC with music and a stage. He was also the first DLC character from a "new" company because, in Smash, he's licensed under Capcom USA. If Crash really was 9, he would be the first "new company" of Season 2, Activision. Furthermore, Banjo's negotiations were supposedly started around E3 2018, for him to get a E3 2019 reveal. Rumors about Crash first came up around E3 2019... Again, history may be repeating itself.

So, uh, food for thought. I'm going to try staying off here for the rest of the day to work on the essay but Happy New Year's and hopefully my crazy theories come true.

Add in: This is my own speculation. My contacts and insider friends are still arguing over who 5 and 6 are, nevermind 7 and beyond. This is entirely me.

One thing I don't get, why is Geno the "first costume removed"? Aren't the Monster Hunter and Megaman costumes also "removed"?

Edit: Also Heihachi.

Another thing I want to add, only one of my contacts agrees on my prediction for 5 now. Four of contacts agree it's a Western character, three think it's from Bethesda, and one thinks it's Microsoft. It was two who agreed with me but one of my contacts has cold feet now and has taken back their hard guess. They had a "feeling" and that was it. So, basically only one of my insider friends agree with me on 5 but it's in a "I guess..." sort of way. Same with 6, who is being argued about even harder. So, as much as people complain about me having insider friends, I'm going forward almost entirely alone on my predictions for 5-9. People are going to whine and claim I'm "cheating?" Okay then... I'll just go full on Super Saiyan Chad and go forward with my biggest theorycraft in a decade in a half. **** it. I'm predicting the next 5 characters because this past year has really chapped my ass and if that means Galaxy brained, big **** energy swinging like a ****in' wrecking ball to ring in the New Year and Geno's return, god horse slapping damnit, I'm doing it. **** it. **** it if I'm wrong. **** it if I come off as crazy. **** it, just full on pelvic shattering **** it. I'll see you glorious ******** tomorrow...

this is true, but I'd say that since there hasn't been a capcom DLC character in ultimate, they aren't as notably absent as Chocobo and Geno were when Hero was revealed without them. Also, Fatman is pretty sure Monster Hunter is coming with 5, if i recall correctly.

Heihachi is also mentioned tangentially in the big 2020 spec post because there's nothing really disqualifying him as being another mysteriously omitted mii costume but if we buy into "lazy theory," Lloyd takes a lot less time to develop than Heihachi, a character Sakurai has already admitted failed to make it past the design phase for smash 4.

It still feels really odd to claim that a Geno Mii costume constitutes much of a base to build a brand new character off of in a way that is at all comparable to choosing veterans for Smash 4 DLC. Like, that's just a little bit of texture work rigged on to a Mii Gunner compared to literally complete characters that just needed to be tweaked and adapted for the newest title. All of the "legwork" was already done on Mewtwo, Lucas, and Roy. Their movesets were 90% outlined from previous appearances in Smash, there was a feel for who they were and how they fit into Smash Bros., etc. A Mii costume is such minimal work compared to that since you basically still have to make an entirely new fighter from scratch in every other area of development besides some basic texture work for the costume...

Like, I don't think Geno and Lloyd would get the upgrades because they had existing assets, I think they would get the upgrades because they've managed to be popular characters that people are interested in and Sakurai recognizes that he can turn into fun playable options. I just don't see such minor assets really swaying things in any real direction. At best, those assets are a very minor convenience to a process that was chosen beyond said assets existing.

I also don't really see why a Lloyd wouldn't just be shifted to start a new season of DLC and would still be positioned as a bonus to be honest. Tales can easily hold up a challenger pack all on its own and kick off a season with a fun new character that people want. Not really an issue with anything, but just a comment on the theory (Also, to be honest, Heihachi bringing in Tekken mechanics and adapting another fighting game would be way more interesting than Lloyd IMO... but I'm probably the only one who will push for that). And this is all without even mentioning the fact that this really does imply a lot of DLC is coming, which makes sense given how well things have gone, but it still feels a little bit like putting the cart before the horse when we don't know anything about said additional DLC to say we have 3 individual DLC options and a full Season 2 on the way. I'm not trying to be pessimistic, I'm just trying to say we're getting really ahead of ourselves here it feels like haha.

The reusable asset point is massively in our favor. There are maybe 5 realizable characters who have some assets on hand that can be added, and it seems we’re likely to get at least 2-3 of them. Anyone paying attention can probably see that at least 1-2 of these contenders are being dog whistled from the rooftops of Nintendo HQ at this point.

I feel the storm brewing. The longer they wait to give us info, the more likely it is that when they do give us some they’ll be unleashing the floodgates. It makes perfect sense to give a massive info drop soon that will satisfy us until E3

By this train of logic it would be the first costume that should have come back to not come back.

I agree, it's a bit of a stretch, since it looks to the 2nd DLC, and Sega still had two Mii costumes that didn't come back with their rep, but the pattern works in hindsight better than it does looking forward. For the record, as it stands, #5 would have to come with 4 returning costumes to be able to clear out Capcom's remaining missing inventory, and 3 to do the same for Namco. Since returning costumes have been consistently locked at 2 per fighter, I'd say the most likely situation here is that 5 is coming with X and EXE, as moves on Namco costumes would likely give away DLC plans, or generate a lot of false hope. I operate under the assumption that Capcom decided that Rathalos was representation enough for Monster Hunter and worked with Nintendo to cut the costumes, possibly due to poor sales.

And while I'm here, Fatmanonice Fatmanonice I need to address an elephant in the room that I've noticed with your theorycrafting for a while now, and that's how you seem to cling to the website updates from back in October. I'll grant that this update did kind of foretell Terry's launch, but I'll quote myself on this so that we're clear that I'm not checking now, two months later, but checked then, and got my conclusion:

Ok, so this made me go check the code myself. First, this is only in the code for the page where you can buy the DLC. It lines up with the screenshots provided in the resetera thread, but here's some facts:

Before, every character was contained in a <div> tag that was given an ID of the character's name. Now, they have enclosed each character in an additional <div> tag given a class "challengerBlade". This is extremely unlikely to be a codename, and there are not extra slots added to the website unless I'm overlooking them. There are four challengerBlade class divs that contain the three available fighters, and one for Piranha Plant.

However, this is probably an upgrade to the code to make it easier to add and move DLC characters as they are added. They might be adding some kind of feature to hide certain "blades" of characters, like putting them into accordion boxes or something.

tl;dr this is actually a false alarm, there are no additional "slots" on the website just yet.
I'm not going to pretend I know for 100% certain what the plans are for these updates, and what I said about it being done to more easier add or move characters around is just speculation. However, I can say for 100% certain that no "slots" were added. The code changes were and still are absolutely not placeholders for three new characters.

Eric I think you're right to be skeptical that pre-existing assets like mii costumes could play such a big role, but we have seen that, in the cases of K Rool and Chrom, the pre-existing elements went a long way towards honing the look of those characters.

Everyone is talking about leaving when Geno gets in, but let’s be honest

Most of ya’ll will move on to next “most wanted” character

Especially if Geno gets in, because you definitely know how people are going to use him as a Greek horse for beg more upgrades

I'd more use him as a gut shot to anyone after that point that says a character isn't possible. And you're wrong. The character I'm moving onto after this (Viewtiful Joe) certainly isn't the next most wanted.

I mean, it helps get you in the head space of their looks at best, but I don't think they're really going to accomplish much beyond that. King K. Rool was a ballot choice from day one intended for Ultimate, so it's not really surprising that they started adapting him that far back and he was sort of always going to get in (I mean, yes, details from the costume were used, but that's so very little of the process of developing a character). Similarly, Chrom was A. A humanoid Fire Emblem character, B. An Echo fighter of Roy so they had to do even less work to get him up and running, and C. Had a full 3D model available thanks to his appearance in Robin's Final Smash that in of itself was further than Mii costume.

I'm not saying anything about this all affecting Geno's chances, but I am saying that I just don't think a Mii costume is going to be much sway in adapting a character because of "pre-existing assets" when that's so, so little of the character.

It feels like saying it's easier to make a meal because I have salt. Like, yes, I can absolutely use that salt in the meal preparation... but there's so very much more that I need to prepare the meal that it's not really going to sway my decision in which dish I actually end up making.

I watched the Desolation of Smaug recently and saw this scene and quote, and it made me think of Geno, so I made a little meme to share with everyone here. (Side note, see that Fatmanonice Fatmanonice is still theorycrafting, just wanted to give props for sticking with the Geno support and speculation scene for so long, that's dedication). Anyway, this is how I'm going to feel when Geno is finally announced.

Honestly I'm inclined to agree. They might use it as a basis for the design, but it certainly won't be a 1-1 translation. (And it'd be a major disservice to us if it were) the character itself is still going to be remodeled from scratch and retextured more than likely.

Fatman getting ready to unleash his full power
Basically. I feel like I've snapped. I'm tired of the Guess Who game. I'm tired of the inane videos. I'm tired of the insider drama. I'm tired of Twitter. I'm tired of how aggressively ****ty the Smash fanbase has become. I'm tired of my friends getting **** on. I'm so tired of it all and knowing people want MY PARENTS DEAD over ****in' video game rumors and cartoon slapstick has me vibrating with anger in no less than 5 different dimensions.

So, with my last theory, consider that a gift to the Geno fanbase. For not only all the bull**** that we've put up with in the past year but the past 20 on this site and elsewhere. If I'm right, it'll be the Dunk of the Decade™. There will be no survivors. I'm so amazingly fed up with everything and that I don't even care about logic or reason. I love the Geno fanbase but, holy ****, I'm genuinely mad now and have ascended to new Nirvana levels of ****s not given. So, that said, take this and let's slam this ************ down as hard as humanly possible if and when the time comes:

This is a fair point. I guess if I had to respond, following your analogy, I might say that the costumes could end up being closer to chicken stock than they are to salt, especially given that the dev team also uses existing characters as jumping off points for newcomers. Cloud + mii costume = Lloyd soup?

I may be stretching, but that won't compare to the sheer stretching of literal and metaphorical assholes if my inane ramblings are correct. Could this be the legendary chaos dunk? Is Charles Barkley confirmed for smash?

Yeah, but the existing character defense then becomes a justification for literally every other character choice in existence since they all use another one as the base and build off of it. At that point it's just not even really much a justification for any one character in particular.
