Sabi only said the Mii costume leak being fake is just a possibility. We've to wait a little while longer before it's confirmed to be the case. The fact that Ryu and Crash aren't character #5 though...it definitely makes speculation more chaotic. Apart from Koei Tecmo, the only major Japanese gaming company left with noteworthy ties to Nintendo I can think of is Level 5, so Layton could be a possibility for all we know.

That said, are they making things chaotic on purpose? You know, to confuse us and stir things up, if you know what I mean?

Good to know the costume leak is still a factor. The fact that this next character is so big does have me curious who it could be and what they mean by big. It could either be big in a gaming icon sense or in a fan request sense.

I’m still pulling for Master Chief, especially after those “MCC and Ori are coming to Switch” rumors that have recently been proven half-right with Ori’s announcement. Geno absolutely feels like a perfect post-pass pick.

Kratos if they want to pick the crossover mascot, Kat for popularity, ratchet and clank for sales, Nathan Drake for recurring ps3 and onwards mascot, Sackboy for cartoony less recurring ps3 and onwards mascot or toro for Japanese mascot and Japanese appeal.

In interviews it seems quite clear that banjo was very easy to get so any theories about Microsoft saying Nintendo could use Banjo only if Master Chief was added and it doesn't seem like Nintendo would attempt to get a rep who was already recently represented

This next direct is certainly gonna be an interesting one.
The top contenders that we know of that havent been ruled out are probably Doom Slayer, Lloyd Irving, or Geno.

In a perfect world we get a direct soon with Fighter #5 (my perfect pick would be Lloyd) and Geno as the first post pass reveal, though im not banking on it.

Honestly I think our final character full stop is gonna be Chief. The pick seems crazy enough to happen. Banjo already got Microsoft’s foot in the door, and I don’t think theyre done just yet. The cash flow and publicity for Halo in Smash would be so massive for both companies I feel like it be foolish for them not to.

My best guess is very early november, like 1st-3rd to match up with the France tournament banning further DLC. If that unrelated I think it’ll still probably be the first week to keep the release windows rolling.

I'm thinking Doomslayer or Lloyd (or even Reimu) has the highest chances for FP5. I definitely think Geno has a chance but I have a feeling that they won't have two characters from the same third party in this pass so that could rule out Geno or another Microsoft rep like Steve or MC. We could also see a Capcom rep which would open the possibilities for Jill/Leon, Dante, or someone else.

I just really don't see what would make him any different from Bayonetta aside from being visually more appealing.

It would appear that maybe you've never actually played a DMC game. This list of weapons (with pictures) is just from one game: DMC3 (the best one imo)

As one can clearly see, Dante is way more than just guns. His arsenal and overall style would be very different from Bayonetta's. Sure, he'd obviously still have a bit of gunplay involved, but he's also much more than that.
Anyway, here's hoping we get Geno sooner rather than later. Smash speculation is so much more tolerable when you have nothing more to worry about.
I hear that's when it actually becomes fun lol

Guys... it just occurred to me.

Among the potential Capcom names that have circled around within the dlc speculation cycle (Dante, Phoenix Wright, Morrigan, Jill, Leon, etc.), what if... they were to go with X, as in Mega Man X (thus him simply being X in the roster). Sure, at first many might think "but he'd be Mega Man's echo", however X, despite having similar gameplay in his games to that of Mega Man, X has more mobility. Aside from having more mobility, unlike Mega Man, X can charge the weapons acquired from Mavericks (thanks to glove enhancements). His Up B would be completely different from Mega Man's since he doesn't have a pet sidekick like Rush. He would depend on one of the many Maverick weapons he's acquired throughout the games (and boy there's a LOT to choose from). Perhaps the charging of his X Buster would be similar to MegaMan's (Forward Smash), but considering X being a more advanced robot (a reploid), I believe it'd be best to assign his X Buster to Neutral B (so he may charge while running). I'd say let's add his name to the pool of Capcom characters that could make it through Ultimate's DLC.

If we were to get another Megaman character it would've been Zero. Plus people are fools if they think X would be an echo, X is like twice as tall as Megaman.

I think it generally comes down to three: Kratos, Ratchet, and Sackboy.

Kratos is arguably Sony’s largest “unique” character at the moment, as Nathan Drake, while being far more famous, is just... a guy, and Spider-Man is fourth-party. However, his games are incredibly violent, even moreso than Doom, so they might want to avoid him.

Ratchet, my personal pick, would have a ridiculously versatile moveset and a fun personality, sort of being Sony’s mirror to Banjo with Clank on his back and all.

Sackboy... well, I have no idea what kind of moveset he’d use, but he’s a fun, pretty well-known character that’s served as a mascot for Playstation as a whole multiple times.

I’d argue that Banjo isn’t really that much of a “Microsoft rep”, as he is a retro N64 rep caught up in rights issues. Chief more accurately represents Microsoft and Xbox as a whole.

Sounds like it's pretty definitive, though. Assuming at some point the DLC cycle was intended to end with the first Fighter's Pass, this character has to be a showstopper, right?

It’s actually not too unreasonable at all considering how often Capcom ports stuff to the Switch, especially from that era. However, the key word here is “digital-only”. If it was a retail release, then absolutely, the turnaround time would make no sense, but for Capcom’s veteran porting team on a port where most of the work was done the previous year, three months seems absolutely feasible.

It might not take that much time but they probably had to register it with Nintendo in advance. It's just hard to believe that it takes less than 3 months to get a game on Switch after hearing fan demand that was probably there for a long while.

It might be hard to believe, but this process has all been very much streamlined since previous generations. It’s certainly unlikely, but for a big developer with a noted history on the system like Capcom and a port that was already finished for three other systems a year prior, it’s nowhere near impossible.

Honestly, I'm not super familiar with the games, but people close to me have played them, and I understand how beloved the Tomba! series was to a lot of people.
