Not letting that sink in. That sink is wanted in several states, he is not welcome in my house. On the day of our Phase Two deadline, Geno has major Twitter poll victories over Shantae, Crash Bandicoot, Sora and MC with over 4,000 unique contributions pairing these characters against each other.
Let that sink in.

Now that's just being unnecessarily rude. C'mon.bad puns aside I'm stoked for how well these polls turned out. Guess it's about time for Eric to pop in and remind us that polls mean nothing and elections are a farce.
Hey, for the record, I think the polls are valid indicators of how much well over a thousand people want Geno. Now that's just being unnecessarily rude. C'mon.
I agree, but we really don't need to start throwing out pot shots at people for honestly giving their stances. The passive-aggression towards Eric was just uncalled for.Hey, for the record, I think the polls are valid indicators of how much well over a thousand people want Geno.
If Slenderman 2 isn't the next DLC character I'm gonna start a riotWhat's funny is I had a dream last night about some "realistic" poll concerning Geno's chances, and there were a few characters that were doing better than Geno which were ridiculous. One of them was Slenderman and I saw another one above Geno that said Slenderman 2. I was like, "Come on, REALLY!?"
So glad that's not the case with these polls lol.
I'm not taking a pot shot at him, I'm expecting him to "fill his niche" (as wynn put his own debbie downer attitude) by writing up a novella about polls in light of the "Smash bubble". His literature is the kind of academic level discourse I expect from a fandom as civilized as Geno for Smash. I wait with bated breath.I agree, but we really don't need to start throwing out pot shots at people for honestly giving their stances. The passive-aggression towards Eric was just uncalled for.
No lie, Slenderman 2 would be sick as a fighter. What's funny is I had a dream last night about some "realistic" poll concerning Geno's chances, and there were a few characters that were doing better than Geno which were ridiculous. That's not even remotely close to what I've said and you know it. Go read my posts again on this subject again and see what I'm actually saying. Not letting that sink in. That sink is wanted in several states, he is not welcome in my house.

But, since we're operating in the context of a Twitter poll, someone from another state is very likely to notice it and share it with their fellow ... statesmen? Even a New Yorker might share it with someone from out of state, maybe a former New Yorker who has moved and now finds their new state to be superior. I get why you believe that response bias potentially poisons the outcome, but I just think that the combined response bias for other characters is going to balance out and give organic results, especially when we base victory on simple majority and not something more complex. If there was a two thirds majority requirement or something similar, I'd be singing a different tune. That's not even remotely close to what I've said and you know it. Go read my posts again on this subject again and see what I'm actually saying.
And it goes without saying that a poll promoted by a user named "PapaGenos" who constantly promotes Geno as a character choice might be more prone to an over-representation of the character compared to the Smash population. In no way does that mean the data is worthless, it's just the realities of voluntary response bias influenced by the ways in which polls are conducted are present. If I make a poll of which US state is the best but base my poll in New York and promote my poll in New York, it's naturally going to favor New York (Nothing against New York as a state, it's just an example). That's the crux of what I've argued in the past.
We wouldn't scrap the whole letter just because of that, no worries. Is there a word you'd choose to replace it with, or could we just submit it with a replacement like 'awesome' or 'wicked cool' or 'super duper mcfreaking amazing KABOOM'? Okay, maybe not that last one...****, I just noticed the "no vulgarity" rule.
Would a single use of "badass" render my otherwise clean letter unusable? (I'm fine with it being replaced with some replacement word though). I'd resubmit myself, but I'm worried that deleting my original email would result in whoever's checking the emails missing it entierly
not to come off as trying to say what is and isn't acceptable in the end, hasn't Nintendo themselves allowed "badass" in their own family friendly programming? Some stuff gets through in Nintendo directs or Treehouse presentations that honestly surprises me.We wouldn't scrap the whole letter just because of that, no worries. Yeah, that'd be fine with me. I can't really think of anything in particular, so yeah, just choose whatever. We wouldn't scrap the whole letter just because of that, no worries. Melee: Square and Nintendo's relationship not greatIt really makes you wonder what is the final lock keeping Geno out, the last restraint that needs to give out for him to be playable. Even if the developers hated him, seeing so many fans want him would cause them to begrudgingly add him even if just for revenue purposes.
What else is needed to finally push the Smash team into making Geno playable? And why is Geno's path to the Smash goal that he must travel to be playable in the shape of a tall jagged mountain, while other characters have something simplier for their path (or in FE's case, a pathway that is a conveyor belt)?
Wait I thought the deadline was later tonight?Today's the deadline, so it has to be done ASAP today if you still want your letter to make it in. The email is smashultimatedlc@gmail.com. Everyone's assembled a lot of the letters and prepared plenty of stuff by now, though, so while I think we can still get your letter in, I unfortunately can't promise anything.

It's important to remember the sad reality that is Sakurai's whimsy. No matter how much people scream and beg, in the end, like it or not, the decision lies with him.We really shouldn’t be taking polls like this too seriously. Polls mean little to nothing these days. Remember, there was a poll a few months ago that had Sora with over 1,000 more votes compared to Geno.
It’s good to know Geno is still in demand; but let’s face it; he’s already made an impression on Sakurai. What matters now is how Sakurai acts on that impression, whether it be to give us a Mii Costume again or finally deliver on the hype.
Sorry, I don’t want to be a party pooper, I just see people getting hyped over poll results when they mean nothing at this point in time.
Geno beat Sora.Geno beat Chief.
Geno beat Chief.
They literally let the word "*******" be played in their Nintendo direct and Smashboards won't even allow that.not to come off as trying to say what is and isn't acceptable in the end, hasn't Nintendo themselves allowed "badass" in their own family friendly programming? Some stuff gets through in Nintendo directs or Treehouse presentations that honestly surprises me.

Nintendo's on some weird **** sometimes, gotta be honest. Not that I mind, of course, but boy, Ninty never fails to surprise me. Heck, Reggie's most famous quote is along the lines of, "We're about kicking ass, taking names, and today, we're making games."They literally let the word "*******" be played in their Nintendo direct and Smashboards won't even allow that.
I've submitted my letter for Operation Starfall. Do you all plan on giving confirmation emails or anything of the sort? I know you all are already a doing lot for us, but I do think that might helpful for everyone involved in you can find the time.
Just to make sure, to the guy who is doing this whole email thing (not to you, Eric and Heoj), I did send my letter, right?I sent mine as well, and yeh confirmation emails would be cool but I think it might take a while because they will have to sort everything out.
It's still insane that Lucas of all people is the only character whose game you cannot play in America. We're nearing 14 years since the release of Mother 3 and still nothing. Maybe someday, but probably not. Probably never.Nintendo did not localize Mother 3, and that is far worse than any vulgarity.
we got a fan translation, but earthbound fans want an official translation. It's still insane that Lucas of all people is the only character whose game you cannot play in America. We're nearing 14 years since the release of Mother 3 and still nothing. Maybe someday, but probably not. Probably never.
Either Nintendo would be the one to finally cave and do it, or they're the reason why Sakurai couldn't add Geno to begin with. After all, if Nintendo says no, Sakurai can't do much of anything. I honestly don't feel that SE would turn him down anymore. That being said, I think Nintendo sees merit in fan favorites, thanks to Ridley, Rool, and ESPECIALLY Banjo-Kazooie (who have been dead for years in terms of new games and larger-scale relevance). I could see Sakurai not having that much zest to add Geno anymore, but Nintendo picks up on the outcry and decides to get it done.So I’m curious, in the lineup of DLC where Spirit and AT lifting might be possible, who do you see picking Geno?
Nintendo or Sakurai? For me, it’s gotta be Ninty.
They’ve acknowledged SMRPG’s existence time to time with old tweets about it, Geno’s popularity, being present on the Wii U eShop and while it’s not on the SNES Switch lineup yet, it’s possible they’ll add it in the future.
A lot of people would say Sakurai since he himself wanted Geno since Brawl but then why hasn’t he added him since?
I know Square is infamously known for being greedy and stingy but I think that’s the best part for Nintendo to step in, Nintendo higher ups are ten times more powerful then Sakurai and I think just like Banjo, he negotiations while still steep can be slightly easier since SMRPG is technically their property too.
i have to be honest, the upgraded costume idea wouldn't really be Geno.
The last part is a joke; or, well, I'd be surprised if anyone wasn't joking about that. I think since it looks good and no one expected Undertale, most people are fine and happy with it, but there are some Sans fans that are disappointed.Speaking of which, I have to say that I'm a bit surprised that the Sans fans seem to be 100% on board with the Sans costume. I don't think I saw anyone disappointed over him not being original. Some actually seem to completely convince themselves that the actual Sans is in the roster.
Maybe what I said was a bit hyperbole, but the general reaction has been overwhelmingly positive. The last part is a joke; or, well, I'd be surprised if anyone wasn't joking about that. I just wanna mention how incredibly easy it would be to upgrade the Smash 4 costume to make a very convincing Geno skin. However, I completely understand why it would be disappointing to the fans. Though this can be a very real possibility, considering how San's popularity gave him this fate.
