That's a good question, I guess. I only have meta on Soup and (a little bit) Felipe in there, but I think I will be able to tell when they're town. I don't know how I would begin to explain my read though, which would be a problem.

@Ryker: I find Inferno Megaman & Inferno U'Trick to be vastly different. For one, Inferno in U'Trick had that whole AtE spiel at the end which I thought was townie as it seemed to be a genuine appeal. Inferno in Megaman was playing it dumb, although the two circumstances were different due to Inferno getting pressured far more in U'Trick than Megaman. It comes down to weighing sincerity when you pressure people. Sometimes you think you can read 'em, but who knows. I was also mafia in U'Trick so my take on it is tainted with bias. Would be interesting to hear a second take on U'Trick.

Turns head over to WashedLaundry

Also you can't say that Soupamario is as sparce of tells as felipe in a given game (sorry felipe). He does do his part when it's clutch time, although I haven't seen him as a scum role since I came back on and went back off. You can definitely hold Soupamario accountable to a certain level of play, with felipe you go into the game knowing that you might have to carry him on your back while being paranoid that he might stab you at any moment.

How do I make reading Rajam, Soup, Auspher, Inferno, Felipe, etc. not a crapshoot?

You can't hold them accountable because they'll ALWAYS be scummy, regardless of alignment.
/shrug

Give 'em some pressure. Nearly all of them play textbook newbtown games. The only ones that don't are the ones that have a good chunk of experience under their belt and the only one that's even close to dangerous to town is townSoup.

EDIT: I was shifting on my Inferno stance just before I vanished in UTrick'd2. I thought the sincerity of his outburst was obvious.

I'm not saying Soup isn't giving you information, I'm saying that reading him is a crapshoot.

Noob tells are still a crapshoot.

Like, for example, take Joey in Lost maf. I only had him scum in the event both J and Kat were scum. What made me think he was town was simply the fact he was putting in effort. What solidified it to me was the Gheb vote--there was individual effort, even if it was for the wrong reasons at the time, coupled with legitimate scumhunting.

>Hold Soup accountable to a level of play
His level of play is on par with these other players. Not because he can't do things--I think he just stops giving a **** after awhile--but because whenever he's town he gets this sudden motivation to pull a random-*** gambit for no reason. Pulp Fiction, UTrick'd 1, UTrick'd 2, TTGL, he did it in all of them. Generally when he's not doing this ****, he's barely doing anything of merit. If Soup would play like D1 Soup in Pulp Fiction, I'd be happy. He doesn't though.

You could easily be burned there. That's a meta read. The above listed players and others on that level can be DOING **** and be completely wrong and be town OR they can be inputting **** and be completely wrong and be scum. Look at Rajam in F&L.

I don't believe as much. Remember how I kept telling you Inferno was town when we were playing UPickemon? That wasn't something I was pulling out of my *** because I was scum, I saw it entirely while looking at newbtown plays.

I can easily be burned on meta reads. Considering they're practically giving me nothing else, I have to go off seeing them giving me **** to work from, looking for any small scrap of a town motive, and then praying that they're not fluking town intention.

EDIT: I get it wasn't the best thing, but work with me gotdammit >:v

Gotta look at standard things.

Are they putting in effort?
Are they sincere?

stuff like that.

It sounds wacky because I still haven't a clue how I read those players but I usually am pretty spot on (except on Werekill but I totally underestimated that guy haha)

I don't know if this goes here, but whatevs.

I think we need rules to prevent people from adjusting their title, avatar, name or location to anything mafia related. I can start with ways people can exploit this, but I think it's rather self-explanatory.

Not that.

More like Raziek, who crumbed his role in his User Title.
I could paste my whole role PM word by word in my user title if someone is around to check it. I could change my location to a link where my whole rolePM is pasted. I could change my avatar to the character. I could change my profile picture to a printscreen or whatever.

That'd be illegal in my games, since you're communicating with other players outside the game.

Silly trickery can easily be gotten around by going

"(name) has been modkilled for quoting his role PM"

I think assisting in voting for your own lynch is dumb unless there is a very clear pro to it. I'd rather let a NL happen then get lynched as town, thoughts?

Raziek did it. He changed his usertitle. Gova changed his avatar to one of the characters.

Besides, they can change it before you see it. What then?

I don't see why it matters. Besides Ovelia was a safe claim so I don't know why you're complaining.

I don't see a problem with crumbing info in your user information. Directly quoting info is an issue though.

He didn't crumb any information he couldn't post in the thread. Crumbing in that manner doesn't make it more or less true.

I guess. I just think it takes away from the experience. Might be talking out of place here though.

Not complaining about you at all. This isn't about you in the first place.

I think gord nailed the piont. If you force town to nl they will still be confused about u next day, scum will thank you and push for u harder, and town will just lynch you next day.

So a waste of time. Tell me how you forcin a nl can help town

So I have more time to push it to scum.

I really just refuse to bend over backwards and die anymore if I can.

~

Also Gova's avatar change isn't bad at all, if anything it ment him playing the game irl, which he was during the time of that game. He wasn't claiming anything.

It's like if I put Storm Eagle as my avatar during Megaman X mafia, it means nothing alone only if my actions in the game are trying to cheat using that info.

I feel like trying my hand at being a mafia host, but I don't want to end up making a game where both sides feel cheated because I didn't fully balance it.

Who wants to take the plunge with me and co-create/speculate before I submit a hilarious monstrosity to one of the Dgames mods? ;3

If you wanna make a set-up talk to Sold before you submit it and feel free to talk to me about it, I'll be glad to help.

That crumb was also bull**** and also completely non-related. I just picked that user title then made it work later on. I improvise a lot.

As a first time mod try something simple. It'll help you get the hang of modding and PLUS it'll be pure fun. : P

I'll try something medium. Simple is fine and all, but considering how much the signup thread fills with new setups I feel like I'd be waiting a long time just to run something people might find bland.

I think I'm going to do a simple-ish setup but with a flavor twist that will make it entertaining.

I want to do the same thing but I'd rather start off simple. Like it would be hard to know how to balance swingy roles your first time. Plus you gotta get used to vote counts, locking threads, Role PMs, etc etc.

Dh will help ya
